btw i went to AI last night. i got raped b/c i couldn’t adjust to the jap sticks. i think i’m leaning strongly toward getting a jap stick for console so that i can compete in the major US arcades whenever i get back.

hey sam, I had the same problems with the sticks at AI. I did alot better at Denjin arcade, but I went there after playing at AI twice so i was probably more used to the stick by then.
hey jeff, i just watched the vids you put up. nice work, good camera angle and very clear. do you have my matches on camera as well? i’m curious to see how i look on film when i’m not playing even tho i got owned by laugh.

Sorry to invade on the thread, just wanted to come in here and say thanks for the videos to harry pencil, and good shit to laugh and tao and all who competed in the most recent tourny.
Yo Tao, I just wanted to say though you didn’t win the set, it’s pretty tight that a player who’s played so little even was able to fend him off like you did. I’m very impressed with your skill as a player, and see that unlike Dan, you play unsystematically like myself…someone who puts more importance on reading the player instead of knowing the in’s and outs and the analytics of the game…
I don’t mean to start any heat, but I’ve played Dan and I’ve only SEEN you play, however in my opinion, you ARE better then Dan as a player. Currently, yes he has more skill in execution as well as more understanding of the game then you do…however what he lacks is the mindset to read people and the mindset to feel un’limited. I think we both know that execution and analytics are easily obtained after playing the game for awhile…the thought process however of learning a players habits…doesn’t always come with just playing the game.
No offense to that Sim player but I’ll tell you for sure that he’s DEFINITELY not on a Cole stand point at all.
All in all, thanks guys for the videos, and I hope you beast on all that need to be beasted on!
haha thanks mickey’D. that’s pretty much the situation here. i definitely think jason cole has probably a better sim. the sim player seemed maybe a little nervous too though. but i’ve tried him out too myself and know what to watch out for. bison has a REALLY strong jump game. when i played the sim with gief, i got absolutely destroyed and he looked WAY better than he did against me. scissor kicks is a MONSTER against sim

silentness: these are the directions posted a few pages back… i found them via google but now i forgot my search terms.
just go on line two. the green line. the station is seoul national university. it is like 2 stops from shimlim and sadang stations. i transfer from line 4 to line 2 at sadang. then head towards the middle of seoul for 2 stations and you should get seoul national university station.
go out exit number 3 and there should be like 2 bus stops DIRECTLY outside the exit. hop on bus 5515 A or B and then take the bus for like 10-15 minutes. there is a big counter clockwise roundabout turn for the bus to stop at seoul national university. it’ll do a 360 around this roundabout and then continue onwards. after about 2-4 minutes, it will go into a left turn only lane and make a left turn into a crowded street. there’s a family mart on the corner right as you turn. you should get off at the first stop after the left turn and if you get off here, you should be in front of a glasses store and a paris baguette on the other side of the street. follow the route of the bus for a few minutes. there’s i think a beautyplex on your left hand side as you walk up. pass it and look for a green “bestore” on a corner. when you find it, turn RIGHT. after about 1-3 minutes of walking, you pass a tomato store, a chicken store, and dongbang arcade on your left hand side
this is all from memory but i think that’s about it. i hope i got the bus number correct.
it’s kinda out of the way since you can’t walk from the subway to the arcade though… isu arcade is by far the easiest one for me to get to… but i’ve been unlucky with challengers EVERY time i’ve been there
today, at dongbang i played for the first 40 minutes alone. haha i beat the game twice with akuma only to get 2nd place in the high score. WTF the ENTIRE roster is of AKUMA… like the top 15 is akuma hahaha well i got second place! then i picked bison and people started challenging. i played this REALLY good zangief guy. i hope it’s the guy that eoneo talked about being the best zangief guy who just beats everyone.
anyway, it took me three tries to beat him haha he’s like kinda old. maybe 30? has the old school M haircut that’s parted down the middle sorta… medium build… i dunno haha
and then he picks rufus who i beat the first time only to lose 3 more times… FUCK
and then i beat him with sagat and i beat a few more people and he plays again with blanka. i win the first one again and he beats my sagat and bison and then when i beat him with bison again he leaves for like 30 minutes. then he comes back and i have the same game with around 8 wins or so… he plays around 2 more times and loses with gief i think and then he just goes home… then some random dudes show up with a good level of skill but nowhere close to the gief guy and they pick like… balrog, ryu, akuma, sagat
prolly around 4 different guys showed up almost at different times
i don’t lose anymore and get 20 wins before a guy who works at the arcade but sucks big time plays like 5 times and then he leaves and i beat the game. so yay! 20 wins haha but only cuz the awesome gief guy left. i wanted to play him more cuz i’ve never played a good gief. he beat me doing TWO things… jumping fierce (not the splash) and it beats my Anti airs cuz i suck… and then when i’m doing the stompy kick things he holds down and then lariats… like WTF. hahaha i have NEVER played a gief that does that. i guess vancouver was just in it’s infant stage of sf4 when i left haha ultra was hella gay!
anyway, his rufus was really good, blanka was pretty good, and gief was really good. his gief was the most dangerous but i think his rufus was really tricky and maybe more skillful but zangief is just too powerful
most number of different challengers i’ve played against in korea that’s for sure… maybe i’ll head out there on a saturday next time haha
