As mentioned in my big PSX post, the other SNKP dev present there was, as I have been told, a person who worked on Last Blade 2. So I expressed that I wanted Last Blade 3. He told me he was working on convincing the higher ups about it. I dunno if that’s code for actually making Last Blade 3 a tangible reality, but PS4 Last Blade 2 is very telling.

Sorry, I know this post is old, barely saw this thread, but YES, WHERE IS SHINGO!?
I really want this game to do well, even with PS2 graphics, it would make me cry to see it fail. Q.Q I guess KoF 98 never left my head as a child watching older Mexicans play it at the local donut shop that had it.
I want Orochi Team to return, Shermie, Chris and Yashiro <3 and make them high tier again!
Hey I just decided to register here after having seen the Laban post on Reddit and FB. I was curious about something that I hadn’t seen questioned before or brought up. How is the block stun and blockstrings in this game compared to previous KOFs. Given KOF XIV is being worked on by the same battle director as SF4 I was wondering if there was any similar between how they work in this game and SF4.
Best bet is to release arcade version Summer 2k16.
So they can work on balance, graphics, and fun factor. No way they could they release this in 2k16 on console when SF5(Feb 2k16) would cram its fist up Kofs 14 ass and Tekken 7(2k16 possible)shove their boot down Kofs 14 throat.
Enter early Evo 2k17 announcement saying Kof 14 will be a main game and whoever enters gets a free Mai body pillow. Everybody enters but nobody shows up for pools, hype ass grand finals with Singapore vs Africa. 2 weeks later game falls off the face of the earth after evo hype died down. Wait another 5 years for the next kof(which will still be running on the kof 98 engine and ps2 hardware yet dumb niggas wanna wonder why nobody plays this boring shit. Bring back tagging!).
I’m not exactly sure why you would assume KOF XIV would fall of the face of the earth if it fails at evo. The KOF scene has always thrived internationally and never relied on NA competitions to get it business. It’s more to SNK’s benefit if KOF XIV succeeds in Asia since that’s always been its main source of income.
Speaking on the visuals, I came across a Reddit post that was comparing the visuals of KOF XIV so far to SF4. It seems that at worse, KOF XIV right now is early 360 era and at least comparable to DOA4. It’s possible that when the game is done it might be as good as SF4 graphically.
@ReoGeoSRK Uh, when I played KOFXIV, block stun felt like any of the other KOF games. Well, I play KOF98, KOF98umFE, KOF97, KOF2000, KOF2002, KOF2002UM, KOFXI, and KOFXIII and KOFXIV feels the same as it usually does.
In person, I’d say I like KOFXIV’s more polished models over SFV’s. SFV’s graphical advantage, in my opinion of course, over KOFXIV is details in the background and lighting. In regards to SFV’s character models, they’re still weirdly proportioned in feet and hands like SFIV, and the textures on hair and certain pieces of clothes look off. I like the detail of the women in SFV more than KOFXIV thus far (such as Cammy’s thighs/calves, Mika’s proportions, and etc.) but it’s not that much over KOFXIV.
I feel as long as XIV gets to polish everything and add more finer details to their stages, it may end up looking overall better than SFV. Kyo and Iori were relatively well polished in the KOFXIV playable build and I liked how they looked better than Ryu and Ken in SFV (and I have played all the beta phases and during EVO.) It’s just I think KOFXIV needs more dynamic lighting, better finish of the models, and to reiterate, more detail in the stages.
I think another thing that could help the stages for KOFXIV in a more subject stance is adding your teammates into the background like in KOF titles 98 and previous to it.
EDIT: also, I didn’t know my post reached Reddit, because I don’t post on Reddit. That’s cool that people spread the word
too many people are judging the graphics from low quality video (yes, even the official ones from SnkPlaymore) and the Andy pic (which for all we know it could be the equivalent of this Kyo)
yes, still graphically early (obvious, it is far from release) but far from what is portrayed by many
Awesome that’s really good to know. It might just be me but I actually prefer the graphical direction KOF XIV is going in over SFV since it feels like they are attempting to provide the same realistically proportioned models we got with the 2D KOF sprites. I mean obviously SFV has a better graphics engine at this point in its development but if KOF XIV continues to improve and address its visual shortcomings by release I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it looks better. I did wonder though and I’m not sure if you know this but I heard the 70% completed build was in reference to the gameplay and not graphics. Moreover why is there such a gap between the quality of the kyo,Iori,Chang and Leona models and Andy model.
Also this is the thread I referred to that discussed KOF XIV’s visuals up to this point.
Graphically I think the game will turn out quite well.
I agree his new look is questionable. He went from looking like a badass shonen hero to a obnoxious J-pop pretty boy. I suppose I can’t be too surprised, wasn’t ash like crazy popular or something. I remember reading years ago about his popularity in Asia which could explain the design philosophy SNK has with certain characters now.
