KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

K this is going off topic

Since when did we ever say to support crappy games & since when did SNK ever made crappy games ? (other than KOF XII & KOF2k1 ) Before labeling KOF XIV to anything we just want you guys to look at the game properly then reasonably decide.

It because they have earned it through more than 20 years of their works & why it is wrong to give them a support in their difficult times ? People can waste millions of money in tournaments like DOTA, LOL but when in come to support a company who actually made good quality games people can give lot of reasons not be supportive. Your post really made my day lol but anyway let’s not keep up this since it going off topic.

The company that currently carries the SNK name has little to do with the games we love, I fear. I don’t see the point in supporting it just because it happens to hold the rights to King of Fighters. If the game is terrible I’m going to ignore it and hope that the property is picked up by a more competent company.

I do think the game is going to be decently bad, though. They seem to be copying from previous games, so it’ll be an actual KoF, except it’ll be ugly and bland. Could be worse.

Except the current SNK, even if it’s in name only, were the ones behind 98UM/98UMFE and 02UM, which are almost undeniably the best games in the series. They then went on to make XIII, which is also one of the best games in the series. I think it’s funny that because of the VISUALS of XIV, a game we know essentially nothing about, people are ready and willing to say that SNK needs to be scrapped immediately. You people are ridiculous.

If this current SNK isn’t competent enough to make a new KoF game then no one is.

Pst, you forgot XI.

No I didn’t.

Lot of valuable people who had left SNK previously have returned & working now in there so don’t worry about it.

By the way found this comments in Oda’s & N. Kuroki’s Facebook pages :

snk has been a huge part of my childhhood and its my own right to support them, and no kof is bad besides kof12,your just bashing a game you or anyone has yet to play becouse of artstyle that hasnt even done to 100%. if this game turns out to suck then ill be the first to admit it,however while its still on development i want to get excited for a while as a kof fan so just…SHUSH

12 is a much better game than 03 or 96 are.

KOF is only bad because is an incomplete game, not only because the cast but also for the lack of modes and terrible netcode, but mechanically is a really solid game.
I actually liked it for what it was.

The best king of fighters game was actually CVS2 trololrrolol

I like how saying “I’m not going to support something just for the sake of support” somehow translates to a claim like “Because this good doesn’t look graphically stunning, I won’t be supporting it”.

It should be interpreted more along the lines of “IF the finished product doesn’t seem to be a worthwhile game/is a lazy job, THEN I won’t be throwing any money or support behind it. If that causes them to go under because too many people felt the same way… oh well”.
That has very little to do with how it looks at this stage with barely any footage or details.

It translates that way because that’s literally all we have to judge the game based on and people are making these statements. No one looked at any other fighting game coming out and said “I’m not going to support this game just to support it, if it’s a bad game I’m not buying it” because that is a generally understood statement that doesn’t need to be said. The only reason you would make a statement like that is if you expect the game to be bad, and being that all we have to judge the game on is the visuals, you have to be coming to that conclusion based on the visuals.

Even if you didn’t intend for that to be the case, that is the implication. There’s a psychology to these sorts of responses and people can pick up on them even subconsciously.

Most of the people saying that, is directly in response to someone saying they’ll “buy it to support the company” though… even though they have nothing to go on about this game besides what’s already been shown either. Essentially saying “I don’t subscribe to that idea” is not something I interpret as pulling out early due to the graphics because I HAVE seen other people express the sentiment when people say it about other games (SFxT, SF4, SFV, KOFXIII steam because they didn’t really deliver on the netcode), even non-fighting games and for various different reasons. Main point is the name of company or title of the game doesn’t mean people will or should automatically support it if it doesn’t deliver.

Sure, but it makes sense to say that you will support something regardless because that is NOT a fairly typical statement to be made. Your average person would never buy something intentionally that was known to be a bad product. Going to the contrary is uncommon. If you don’t subscribe to the idea of supporting a company based on the lineage alone that’s fine, but that is also the default position to hold.

We have enough to debate about without bringing semantics into it guys.

Only 5 more days until it ends

I really liked XIII. A lot. It’s hands down on of my favorite KoFs. That netcode was a letdown. I had quit training and I had quit this series. I bought all 3 DLC characters. I learned my lesson. Never again. I don’t like how XIV looks. And I don’t like how everyone looks like some odd cosplayer. However, I will wait this time. Until months after the game comes out. If the netcode is trash yet again, I won’t bother.

*side note: I don’t even want to see what K’ will look like.

I get what you mean, but I don’t feel either sentiment is all that uncommon these days. With stuff like kickstarters popping up and basically being all about support or companies holding the future of some of their franchises hostage unless “enough people” show support by re-buying an old title they decided to release as a digital game cough capcom cough, you constantly have fans arguing either side. My stance just comes from acknowledging that anyone who has been around for the past 2-3 decades, has their fair share of both gems and duds, so I’ll be focusing on what’s appealing about their current project. I won’t worry too much about their potential future because their job is to put out a great product through what they’re developing now.

Anyway, we’ll have more concrete stuff to talk about in a few days. I don’t want anyone to think I have some sort of fixation on the graphics (just poking fun with some of the other people), and it’s not the reason I’m not going along with the rally for support. They just haven’t proven they’ll give me what I want out of a new KOF yet (besides Leona).

What are the chances capcom leases out its netcode to SnK under Sonys push to be the definitive home of fighters. No chance? Naw I don’t think so either.

Dude, what?
