Nope. They’ve been developing for over two decades. Their decisions and priorities are what ultimately lead to this situation, so it’s on them whether this succeeds or fails. If it looks like something I want (good gameplay, netcode, etc.), then I’ll buy it. If not… fuck 'em. I’m not in a “supporting for the sake of support” mood.
I don’t think a game that’s acceptable at best and mediocre at worst, could stay alive as long as it has, especially when there are other great games that are newer and better looking that don’t stay alive nearly as long. Case and point MKX’s ESL vs SF4’s Capcom cup
Sorry, but I’m not willing to let things that I love die so easily.
If a company puts effort into continuing a niche franchise that I love, then I’m going to support that company.
SNK =/= NRS. They don’t have dat Warner Brothers cash, so I’m not going in expecting MKX levels of content and polish.
But, losing KOF would mean more to me than losing MK, so you better believe I’ll be supporting this with at LEAST as much vigor as I supported MKX (a game I bought, but don’t even play anymore).
The fighting game genre is not a genre that I can afford to turn my back on, because it is my absolute favorite…in no small part because of SNK.
Quality products fail all the time. Selling poorly is not always an indicator of quality. I can’t believe someone would try to imply otherwise in a KING OF FIGHTERS thread, of all places.
At some point, there was a chance for the KOF franchise to be at the forefront of FGs again. As things stand currently, this game (assuming it fails) is going to be the reason CvS3 will never become a reality. And that’s the real tragedy.
I have a feeling that SNK going to surprise us all in this weekend at PSX so before assuming the quality of the game lets see what they going to show us.
not true, I despise both Marvel 3 and SxT with a passion. And though I don’t think it’s bad by any means I’m not exactly SF4’s biggest fan. Didn’t like the alpha games, never played Super turbo, Ex was garbage(but had amazing music), think mega man is a poor man’s Metroid, Streets of rage>Final Fight any day, but I must admit that I love CvS2 and 3S
Sorry for getting of topic but I gotta defend us “gringos” Kappa
That’s bullshit and you know it. Nothing would stop CvS3 from getting made other than Capcom, a flop would change nothing. Hell, CvS2 came out a mere couple of months before SNK had to file for bankruptcy. Yall need to stop giving Capcom these scapegoats for why they don’t make the shit you want. You don’t need to be on the volunteer marketing team.
sometimes i feel like some people here hate snk becouse they just make better games then capcom.
snk is one of the pillers of fighting games regardless of what you guys say and anyone who plays/ed thiere games dosent want them to go down.
the street fighter frenchise wouldnt be today as we know it without snk and thats a fact!.and what bad games snk made as opposed to other companies? what kof12? well sfxt was just as bad and it had more content so dose that means capcom should go down?.
Where’s your reading compensation at? I specifically said if the game’s quality is bad and failed because it was bad then it deserves to crash and burn.
Mega Man is nothing like Metroid. Comparison makes no damn sense.
I never understood this ridiculous, support the company thought process. Why don’t you support something that actually matters like alzheimer research, or saving the rainforest, or some other worthy cause you believe in. Giving money for a bad game so a company can eventually produce a good one is so stupid it makes my head hurt.
You run and you shoot on a 2d plain, defeat an opponent to get a weapon to beat another opponent. Only difference is mega man is hella linier, doesn’t control as well, and Metroid focused more on exploration while Mega man focuses more on platforming. I could understand saying that they aren’t the same game, or that Metroid is more akin to Castlevania, but they’re nothing alike? I don’t know about that. BTW: we are getting a bit away from the topic
You don’t gain anything by defeating most bosses in Metroid. You need to find the weapons more often than not. Mega Man is not linear. Being able to select which levels you want and the order you do them in is not linear progression.
They share common elements but not enough where a comparison is feasible.
Do you guys remember the Jin twins from Real Bout Fatal Fury? Do ya think they may be in the China team with Tung F Rue?
After the end of their stories in those games, one of them began getting trained by him while the other began getting trained by Kim in order to differentiate their fighting styles.
They seem pretty boring in the games they were in, but I can’t see them being in the China Team tbh.
Anyway, SNK has made good games. If they can’t make a good game anymore, they don’t have a place in the market. Buying a bad game from them is just keeping the company on life support in hopes that they might recover.
