yuh. i’m just making a statement. we shall see how lively they end up being, but i will be highly surprised if they end up significantly more lively than they currently are.
Huh, didn’t notice Kukri’s braid at first. So he is silver haired. Pretty sure his hair on top are brushed back. Also with his skin tone, I kinda imagine him Kain from Legay of Kain: Blood Omen.
I think this week’s reveal will be one character from Woman’s Team, South American Team, and China Team.
Every other team has at least 2 revealed characters from them so far except for Another World Team, but they just revealed Mui Mui so there may not be another character reveal from that team yet.
Meaning the next reveals should be
1.Mai or Alice
2.Latin Girl or Brazilian Ninja
3.Demon Boy or Pillow Child
Mai will probably be saved later on due to her hype, and Demon Boy is the new protagonist meaning he likely will be the last character revealed.
So I see Alice, Latin Girl/Brazilian Ninja, and Pillow Boy being revealed this week.
Considering that there is wind spiraling inward and this is paired with Kula, I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that her special neutralizes fireballs.
Before reading the posts, I was just finding weird how fast you can stack bars on this game and MAX mode looks like HD Mode with limited EX moves and high damage potential. Now after reading, I am just unsure of how the game will play.
Well, what about the Story Mode? Not the story of the game. I think JohnGrimm said on 4chan that the story mode will be like XIII with images and text like a VN between the fights. I have no problems with that. Better to spend the resources on the core aspect of the game and keep the other modes like Arcade and Story presentable enought.
However it wouldn’t be better if the mode actually teaches new players how to play the game? Not infodumping like Street Fighter and expecting the Internet to teach the rest. But like a fight with the opponent abusing attacking with hops and/or empty hops so the player have to learn how to proper counter the situation. A fight against Iori or the player is using him but the lesson is to teach that his sweep is really unsafe. How to choose your team and order. I’m not saying the guy must come out as a pro player but at least incorporate DandyJ’s tutorial in the game for the casual player that never played before or the guy that mashed his way for the past 20 years. I loved Skullgirls tutorials but I think it could take a step further. Leave the tutorial mode for more advanced things like matchups and frame data(it should be available in the game).
Oh, and keep the Arcade Mode just like it was on XIII. The pre-battle dialogue was great there. And while the Story Mode would be for basic learning and enjoying the story, the Arcade Mode would be for just beat the CPU while waiting for be matched against someone online like on USFIV/DOA5LR. Same thing in the training mode.
Look at Kula’s right foot. It seems to have been darkened by the shadow laying over it. Perhaps this is a sign the by time the game is released, it is to have a dynamic lighting system
You know, I just realized a few moments ago that if they continue to release one trailer a week, the 14th trailer will debut the week of the 25th. You think they will do an extra long trailer like the 6th and 8th which runs for 2-3 mins? They could show updates to the other stages and character models.
The more I think about it the more I realize that the damage output might not be so bad. Once combos are optimized to heir full extent along with punishes and what not I think the matches will have a nice flow to them. It seems like the damage output is roughly similar to KOF13 except you do the same amount of damage with less hits. It’s similar to the damage output in SF4 be SFV in that V just takes less hits to do the same amount of damage.
Yes. That’s my main concern about MAX mode. Is too cheap. One can really spamm MAX mode, as we already saw that.
KOF is more about mobility in general. Three different jumps, sometimes four, back and forward roll, back dash and run…
Not sure about your theory. SNKP doesn’t seem to have any problem to reveal full teams. K’ Team and Ikari Team are already fully revealed.
To me is very difficult to predict who’s going to be revealed. Is so random… I think that Mai is being saved for this month event in Tokyo, but I could be wrong…
I wouldn’t mind to see Mature, Ramon and Chinese masked woman this week, but I doubt they will show Official Invitation 3rd member. So… let’s say Mature, Ramon and Brazilian Ninja.
Not really. All female ninjas are kunoichis. Kasumi and Ayane from DOA, Ayame from Tenchu, Taki from SC, Mai Shiranui, Ibuki and many others are all kunoichis.
Kunoichi means 9+1, literally. That’s because men’s body have 9 wholes. Women’s have 10. So they used a word to say that women ninja are like male ninja but just with one more whole. Of course many kunoichis were trained to assassin their targets while they pretended to be prostitutes. Using sex for assassination was a powerful weapon that most of times only female ninjas could use for obvious reasons. Also, with kanjis that forms “kunoichi” you can create a kanji that means “woman” (onna). And that’s exactly the kanji that appears after Mai in her XIII’s NeoMAX.
Sure, they seem to do long trailers to close out the month, basically. A compilation of everything that has happened over the past 4 weeks.
This newest build will be the most up-to-date of everything we’ve publically seen, so hopefully, it comes with the best stuff rolled into it. I wonder if it’ll have characters from release order, or maybe some that’ll be premiering on the weeks going forward from now? Will be interesting either way.
I agree. I think anything that emphasizes movement should basically be the focal point for the series. In a sense, even multi-part combos emphasize moment-to-moment action and swift motion, so I can see why they’d want to downplay tanky single hits as a design objective. Though there should, of course, exist on certain characters (bruisers, people with supernatural burst-damage skills, etc.)
the only consistency I really see is that they reveal characters that are pretty differnet from each other, generally. MuiMui is as different as you can get from Kukri, Ryo is a beacon of good natured heroics compared to GEESE, etc. Even within the old guy trailer, they had very different walks of life and playstyles, though they were more united by a theme.
Ha, never heard that part before. Kunoichi is full of subtly, eh.
There are no perfect characters for that. Even the most Shoto-like characters have enough differences to throw you off.
The game is different. Instead of trying to get people coming from SF to try to play it like SF I’d encourage them to just open up and try completely different characters and avenues. It’s a lot easier to grow accustomed to new games when you play different types of characters. Learn to play KOF as KOF rather than learning to play KOF as sort of SF until you get used to KOF.
Yeah I know it’s not impossible for one of the character reveals this week being a 3rd member, but I think it’s likely they’ll show ones with only one team member revealed.
I’m definitely sure a Woman’s Team character is next, Kings been revealed ages ago. Also I want Alice ASAP
Some of the characters that I’ve seen people from SF use:
Robert, King, Kyo, Benimaru, Ryo, Andy, Yuri, Kula, Terry, Kensou, Athena, Clark, Ash (rip)
All of those above are pretty straight forward and have a few similar moves to some SF character(s).
While they are similar to some SF characters’ styles, there’s enough that’s different to give you a new experience. tbh even if it’s the exact same style as a SF character, the engine differences (4 jump angles, run, no mediums, rolls, multiple supers) will make it a totally foreign territory.
You can find a style that you like and go from there, but if you try to play the game like it’s SF coz your character has a fireball and a DP (which I’m assuming is how ReoGeo approaches the game, with an SF mentality) then you’re gonna struggle a lot more than you need to. Plus it’s a 3v3 game, you’re gonna play 3 characters that are shoto-like and try to play them like shotos just to stay in your SF comfort zone?
You gotta come at it with an open mind and that it’s a completely new beast, similar in a few ways but still very different. Anti-airing is different, poking is different, comboing is different, pressure and footsies, throws, button uses and speed (KoF close heavies are usually your quickest button, if not one of the quickest), mobility with hops and run… and the list goes on.
But isn’t it better to start off with a character that would play similar to what you experienced earlier in another fighting game to ease out the learning curve a little? And then as you progress in the skill level - proceed to switching to the rest of the cast until you find a perfect fit?
When I compare KOF characters to SF ones, for people who are more used to one game than the other, I do it by tools. “This character St.C might remind you of that chara’s FP”, “He has a DP, but it’s not invul. For that, you might like X, as theirs has a similar angle.”, and so on.
This seems to work out as a better way to compare, than just trying to say “Maxima is like T.Hawk!”. Considering 3 KoF characters basically make 1 SF character (as far as the tools you have within a set of rounds), I think it helps to show people that you’re basically making a custom character set of moves, in a way.
