KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

I played on actual keyboard for years before Hit Box existed even.

I’m a SF player first and foremost.

I main ST and 3s so KOF is not in my element. The execution barrier in KOF98 prevents me from having a confident offence because I can’t reliably hyper hop, not confirm and combo. Therefore I play defensively because I don’t have the option to move forward that well. Plus I have good fundamentals because of my SF experience so that’s all I’m relying on.

If you fight me in ST and 3s you’ll see what I mean, so yeah i wasn’t trying to put you asleep it’s just I’m not good at KOF games.

I recommend picking Ralf then…and maybe Daimon. Benimaru (which you already use) is a good choice. All these characters have really strong pokes and don’t require amazing execution (except maybe with Daimon).

Your offense was better here…however there are still some random punishable moves that you do out of nowhere…like not on wakeup but in neutral, so I’m not sure what you’re trying there.

I also wouldn’t really use fireball supers with any characters…most experienced players will punish them some way or another, Ryo’s especially.

I know I suck fucking balls at this game but the stubborn asshole in me just had to try to get a game at least. I guess when it’s all said and done street fighter is just in my DNA. KOF is foreign to me and might as well be alien. Me playing KOF is like the anime adaptation of TMMT, a fucking abomination that shouldn’t exist or happen. I guess it’s back to SF for me, losing 10-0 by you picking ransoms is enough to let me know I have no business playing KOF games.

I’ll probably uninstall KOF98 but if you’re up for it, I’ll play SVC, KOF98 and SFV anytime.

Also for the hyper hops, couldn’t you just do a fast “db,uf” and immediately press down? It’s even useful with some of the air command normals. I think the window to confirm something is pretty big on KOF.
And you keep complaining about execution but have you ever tried 98UMFE on Steam? They made some stuff pretty easy there.

Loving the weekly trailers but they gotta slow down on the reveals unless the game is coming out in like 2-3 months.

That may be the case tho. I don’t think they game will come out any later then September.

Plus if they reveal the cast within the next month, they can use the rest of the time showing new modes and features. And give a closer look to story.

Besides the weekly reveals give the game more hype, I’d rather they do that then go MIA for months like some other games.

As @Monkey66 said, they can always concentrate on other things after the characters are revealed. Team Spotlight, background stories, special move showcase, DM difference showcase, weekly promotional artworks, letting us here themes, interviews with the voice actors… there’s really no shortage of things they can use to hype the game after the reveals are complete.

Especially once we have a 24 character build that they can let people play around with. Could you image how many weeks of exhibition matches even that build could fuel?

Would be nice to have a demo like 13 did.

just watched some 3rd strike play from ultros. you need some training :stuck_out_tongue: I see you getting outplayed due to lack of confidence (weak offense and risk taking and predictable play), seeming lack of matchups or how to beat out x with y with your character, a general lack of character knowledge, and execution issues such as hardly ever dashing in, even on a knockdown.

have you ever watched yourself play and then compare it to a pro sean side by side? could be very helpful to you. Anyway keep at it, you of course have potential to be great :slight_smile:

Remember thought, that XIII’s (and XII’s, I believe) demo came out AFTER the full game released…

It’d be great to have some kinda Beta testing for online / LET ME PLAY ALREADY purposes.

Who would everyone like to see in the 24 character build(keep in mind that there will be at least 4 more characters revealed by then)?
I’m obviously hoping to see Vice and KoD. Especially Vice, because I fear she will mostly share her XIII move set(No lightning legs, chain command grab, or bull ravenger dm) and I want to get all of the disappointment out of the way.

I wanna see Leona’s EX Grand Saber and Robert’s EX Ranbu. I’m actually hoping to see some overall improvements / Shifts too. We haven’t seen much that suggest they’re CHANGING anything on already in characters between builds yet, so I’d like to see something that suggest that improvements / changes might still be happening.

Really hoping to see Maxima in action. Will he have any returning moves (Maxima Scramble, MONGOLIAN, MAXIMA REVENGA?) I definitely wanna see Master Tung in action.

Ralf has been so under-shown since his introduction, looking forward to him. Vice also ranks high for me, not because I expect disappointment, but I really hope there’s some nice tricks in there, even if only on her EXs. Blackend command throw with Startup invul totally needs to come back, too. Or a version of Gorefest with such properties.

Geese is an obvious pick, the others I want to see are Ralf, Tung and Kukri. I can wait for K’.

At least 2 newbies (mainly Luong and whoever else). Really want to see what exactly is Sylvie’s fighting style since all that was shown from her were lightning attacks.

Yeah, I’d like to see Ralf too. I hope he gets both Ralf kick and The tackle like in 02. I’d prefer the argentine backbreaker over the burning hammer. But I definitely wouldn’t mind him keeping gomu gomu no Jet gattleing as his Climax dm. Also I hope Maxima gets his belly to belly suplex as well as his bunker buster dm back.
