KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

This makes me wonder that the game could have rival battles just like SFIV.

It’s just 2002. I hear BALA isn’t that strong in KOF98. Since it’s the more fundamentally sound game, I only really respect how well someone plays 98. For some reason, although Emil is pretty solid as a player (although he’s pretty rusty now), he likes 2002 more and thinks it’s less busted than 98 (at least based on an old conversation I had with him a few years ago.) Such a mysterious person.

I have no idea why you throw away games doing random D Hienshippukyaku with Ryo. I just don’t understand what’s going on in that head of yours when you make that decision.

You must be that Ultros…honestly I couldn’t understand what you were trying to do in that match. Was the strategy to make me fall asleep?

I say this because there was no offense from your end and I thought maybe you were suffering from some execution problems…So, I just rushed in and tried to get the matches over with.

Edit: And yes I’m pretty rusty…actually there is something wrong with fightcade for me, it frameskips way more than ggpo did and I find times when players are warping all over the screen and I can’t move. Very frustrating and I’m thinking of quitting fightcade because of it.

This could work but it’s more likely that all canon fights will happen in the story mode and the arcade mode will have no rival fights

Anyway I’ll be playing more tonight, so stick around fightcade in the next couple of hours, I should be on

The devs for Fightcade are working on their program so they’re going to use a later/better version of Final Burn Alpha that doesn’t run games like old GGPO’s FBA booty. We just don’t know when the ETA for that is. I think that’ll cure some of the problems you’re having.

I was thinking it had something to do with spectators entering. A lag spike would occur, usually with the sound stuttering. Following that, there would be about 5 seconds of severe frame skipping where I can’t help but run away until it dissipates…but while I’m waiting for it to go away, opponents rush me down, as if they don’t experience it on their end. I don’t understand.

fightcade works amazingly for me. reogeosrk, do you use a fightstick? if not is that why youre having execution problems?

A poor carpenter blames his tools. No controller will ever stop you from having good execution.

Yes, and talking about story mode, I hope that now this mode is not as disappointing as the KOF XIII one. It had a big potential but left a badly told story.

?

Even if you use keyboard?

that is bullshit. straight up certain controllers you will not be able to compete at a high level with. It is just common sense. Give a professional fighting gamer a third party n64 controller and they won’t be able to compete. I never advocate against complaining…I was born with 1 hand and use a pad (a high quality hori hc4) and I’m tearing it up on Garou and other fighters. But sometimes a carpenter just needs new tools…

Ha, joke’s on you, I use the RE4 Chainsaw Controller!

Okay well obviously ruling out fucking horrible nonsense like a Guitar Hero guitar or random obvious poor quality 3rd party controllers that don’t work, it doesn’t matter if you play on pad, keyboard, or stick, none of those TYPES of controllers are outright hindered for competitive play.

some people just can’t perform well on certain controllers… well of course there is the human potential, but if it feels wrong and clunky, then the player will never play as well as they should on it.

Reogeosrk, maybe you do need a new controller that you are comfortable with. if you think your controller is fine then it is just about practice and having confidence in yourself. don’t count out the importance of confidence…you need it in spades to be good in this genre anway, since you must overcome your opponent in mind and body (performance)

Doesn’t John use a Hitbox which is pretty close to a keyboard?
