KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

Among the Asian “illuminati” (aka the TOs from this region), talk is not to plan for any KOFXIV tournaments yet since it’s supposed to come into play late in the year. Not sure how accurate our info is, though we do have some industry contacts.

I agree. We need great netcode as well & to polish the game along with the characters a bit more.

No need to rush it out. The last thing we need is another SF V debacle.

Well, KOFXIII had a Special preorder Edition with a 4-disc OST and Europe had one with a Mai poster, reversible cover and digital artbook. I actually have both of these versions.

And I also have no hurry for the game as long they tweak the netcode. Seriously, they NEED to get it right this time. Party mode with XII’s netcode would be a nightmare.

Hey I always wondered about something, why does geese have bodyguards. I mean he doesn’t really need them he’s one of the most powerful SNK characters ever. Isn’t it a bit pointless for him to need protection, like exactly who is going to challenge him.

He’s a busy weeaboo man. He doesn’t want to bother with a random nobody. If someone pass through his bodyguards, then maybe it’ll be worth his time.

wasn’t this explained already?

Ryo and Ryu are only similar names if you’re transliterating them into languages that aren’t Japanese. The Japanese generally write their names with Chinese characters, or kanji, and the two are unmistakable for those who can read them.

亮 - Ryo. Means “bright”

隆 - Ryuu. Means “noble, prosperity, high.” Can also be read as “Takashi.”

Who’s publishing this game in North America? Any news on that?

Well their last console game, which is KOF13, was published in the US by Atlus. The same publisher that took the job if distributing Demon’s Souls in that region. If anything I’d assume SNK would want to work with them once more, since Atlus did a great job of spreading informative media on YouTube, in form of different tutorials, in making of which James Chen himself took part

The only problem I have here is that Maxima LOST. But he’ll get back up and VAPUH KAHNNUN, so it’s all OK!

Like that “Everking” branding Nelson has on his shorts, ha.

That Nelson screenshot must be the end of his Climax, I think.

LOL at those Everking shorts: combining Everlast and King of Fighters = Everking.

well who knows. it would be insane if they are still doing business with the company that did KOFXII and XIII’s netcode. even M2 is better at netcode, though they are not expert when it comes to multiplayer lobbies and spectating, since their games online stick to 2 players only lobbies. KOF95 and KOF96 on ps3 have noticable improvements compared to KOF94 netcode.

but yea, it can be based on the company they choose to design the netcode and stuff, and if they really have experience in solid international netcode. a lot of JPN companies only care about JPN region netcode quality, but that isn’t gonna profit KOFXIV in the long run since most consumers and online gamers are in EU and NA.

The fact that they have already announced 6 player mode pretty much confirms lobbies and spectating which is more than what we’ve seen from SNK previously, which leads me to believe they are working with a new company for the netcode. Maybe Code Mystics?! Either way they have made it known that they are aware how important online is and how different it is for countries bigger than Japan so at the very least we can say they looked into it more than not at all. I have high hopes for the online of XIV but we’re probably gonna be in the dark about how good it is until the game comes out.

I wanna say I want rollback coz MKXL’s and Skullgirls’ are so fuckin good, but then you have 3SOE and SFV which are hella inconsistent so idk…
Maybe once the cast is revealed they’ll us a trailer or an interview showing stuff like that, all the modes in the game, what netcode they’ll use etc etc

Code Mystics did the netcode for steam ports of 98UM and 2002UM. If it’s them again I hope they do a better job. Netcode for those sucked.

Yea code mistics is ok, nothing spectacular

They should just go GGPO. SNK has a bad rep as far as netcode goes, obviously hardcore fans won’t care…but casual players will 100% care and will likely pass. If they hear…GGPO, godlike netcode, then anyone interested in the game itself can jump onboard and not fear that the game will be virtually unplayable online.
