Arcana Heart’s cast (the majority of it anyway) are simply more modern takes on characters like Athena, Sakura, and Xiaoyu with stronger fantasy elements. It’s hardly a massive reach.
If you believe the leaked roster (it certainly does look credible at this point), then I’d say their chances aren’t looking so good. Oda hasn’t ruled out DLC plans however, according to his answer when he was asked a few interviews back.

Arcana Girl has bigger boobs, softer clothes and a “rape me” face (no mysoginistic) and hairsyle.
AH3 has blander design (is not that May Lee’s design is not bland), saturday morning anime face and generic personality. Bottomline the only similar thing between those characters is the scarf. BTW, May Lee’s not SNK it’s Eolith, and I always thought she’s not “KOF” enough.
Mildred is overdesigned and her costume looks clunky and ridiculous, bad color scheme and everything, while Liz is class as fuck.
I agree AH3 uses similar concepts to KOF but the execution is like KOF designs gone wrong, they’re never that level of class…
KOF goes hard on the anime look with its characters, but it depends on the Era that they were created. Look at Chris, Yashiro and Shermie, they’re anime as fuck, but they’re considered retro by our standards today.
However, the older you get with the character creation date, the more they get influenced by american comics. Terry, Ryo, Ralf, they were born back in the day when japan looked more towards the west for inspiration. (Also shinkiro’s old style was definitely inspired by american comics.)
