KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

Oh right I completely forgot that was a command throw in FFSP. Now I’m kinda tempted to re-visit Tung in that game, I never bothered playing with him. Really the only game I bothered to play Tung in was RB2, and he wasn’t very good in that game either. At least this time around that move might actually be good seeing KOF allows comboing into command throws, but if they keep the old command for it… ffff. I remember early on in KOFXIII’s location testing King’s Surprise Rose had the original AOF2 command before it changed to qcfx2 lol. Some of the old school commands really need to disappear, especially if Geese keeps his classic Raging Storm command.

I hope the whirlwind super is actually useful now, it’s always been pretty shitty imo, only game where i see it used was 95 and that’s only because of the retarded chip damage everything did, outside of that i never see it

Considering we already know what the roster is, this kind of wishful thinking is kinda silly.

They aren’t on the leaked roster list, it has been very accurate so far.

There seems to be a nice update to the graphics in parts of this trailer. Notice how there seems to be more self-shading falling on characters (such as seeing Tung’s arms cast shadows on himself in his first pose, or how Choi’s claws and hand cast a shadow on his own body). The shading on Tung’s massive other self is also highly exaggerated, which is a look apart from anything we’ve seen in this game.

Also, Chin and Tung have a lot of 2D-like cloth and hair physics going on. Tung has loose Sleeves and a bottom to his shirt. These all react with his poses. Chin’s Shirt and hair follow the strength is his qcb+p punches rather well, selling the snapping impact much like the hand-drawn animation in KoF XIII. The loose parts of Choi’s prison outfit, wrapped around his waist, also flow pretty well. (And notice how his Freddy-Kreuger style top is actually a bodysuit / thermal underwear? You can tell by how the pattern continues down like socks on his lower legs.)

When revealing characters, there’s more to it than “I want to see who I like next!”. Having elements of the graphics together is also significant. Shared motion effects, physics, collision details, similar hit sparks, special systems that might need to be implemented, all of this can influence a reveal order. So let’s be patient! I’m sure ladies like Mai or Mature (especially if she has a proper dress back now) would benefit from the cloth flowing properly to highlight their elegant motions, y’know?

Damn I always hated choi and his annoying playstyle. The trailer looks great though and I really want to play this game now.

In some cases, you can get away with hcbx2 df+P for Raging Storm instead.
(This works on CVS2 and apparently KOF98UMFE).

It was pretty hard to use, so no surprise, haha. I really liked playing him in FFSP over the past… decade… on occasion, I played more Jubei and Cheng Shinzan in original FF2 back in arcades.

I never heard of him being bad in RB series. We had a RB setup at a local anime con a few years back, and I was dominating with him so much, I thought he’d be OP. Surprising since I’m not nearly as well-versed in RB series (especialy then) as in many other games.

I don’t think there’s anyway possible they keep the old motion. Has to be one of the most non-intuitive things ever created, ha. Raiging Storm can keep the pretzels, but no Break Spiral motions from Duck, or Bloody Flash from Laurence Blood, please. Original FFSP Senpuugoken with Tung wasn’t the worse, but I’m glad it’s generally changed to fireball motions in modern times.

In Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 Raging Storm became f, hcf (Haohshokouken motion), I’d be down for that. I liked the “EZ Storm” command in that game.

Even with the shortcuts you can do with Raging Storm in some games, it’s still a pain in the ass to use, especially in combo’s. In 98UM with Regular Geese, it’s possible to combo into Raging Storm off lights… but why would you ever bother when you can just do Deadly Rave instead which is a million times easier?

Geese should been in the trailer. He’s the only old guy that would get me hype.

For the type of move it is, it would make sense if they made it a HCBx2+AC i guess. I was never able to use it efficiently combowise as well xD I get the point now.

*I actually prefer Mature in the badass modern power suit. In general I liked what they did with Mature in 13 in comparison to her older iterations. I’d like her to keep her pressure playstyle instead of reverting to the space control style she used to have.

The powe suits went against all the intentions of mature and vice since they’re suppose to be rugal’s secretaries. Also when it comes to ryo, I wonder if he will have his long range fireball or the short range one. I’d like to see his parry move return and also his air fireball.
