I’m almost certain even in 94 those were still the Ikari Warriors and Art of Fighting teams, those countries were just their stages which is not the same thing. Also, everyone in Japan Team is from Japan, everyone in Mexico Team is from Mexico, everyone in South America Team is from South America, everyone in China Team ???
Well, it’s all relative really. Cause 3rd Strike was slower and the damage was way toned down from Second Impact (and also toned down from New Generation). Most normals were worse across the board (except for Chun-li, LOL) too. But players adapted and the game, overall, is seen in higher regard than its predecessor (they’re wrong though, cause most of the characters in 2I were more interesting as well ;).
I’ll give you ST. But as an OG HF player who can still find competition in HF in my country to this day, I always found ST to be absurdly fast on Speed 3 and the damage unnecessarily high compared to HF. Still played it a lot though, and I will concede that it’s arguably the more “fun” between the best Sf2 games, but I would have preferred ST if it had HF damage and speed (and had HF Gief/Blanka LOL).
re: old characters
I think the end boss being able to warp to anywhere in time and space and thus making it possible for anyone and, possibly, everyone to come back at some point, is a cover to support the game for years via DLC teams until KoFXV on the next console generation. Could be wrong though.
Joe Linguini Vs Joe Higashi I like the Italian name better lol…not.
Truthfully though, the Ikari team had no country to even claim so that makes sense (I wonder if they ever crashed in Brazil in the Ikari games)
AOF could of been japan or italy (or the usa thanks to Garcia home supposedly being in Southtown usa.)
Fatal fury Italy was probably used cause Andy’s level in Special.
But who cares, these teams are mixes of all ethnicities so team wise who cares, I just want to make sure the characters play well. Fingers crossed for Fall of 2016.
Ultima: I know SFV is very early so I don’t want to pass judgment too soon. All I know is that for myself personally it has the same issues SF4 did with bad normals and slow walkspeeds. The damage output isn’t impressive either so currently the game is unappealing to me even though I do play it. I’m sure in time it will develop into something good or at least decent. 3s took a long time to fully develop so I’m willing to give SFV the benefit of the doubt.
As for the game’s characters, well if the boss can warp reality and bring in anyone he wants does this mean the potential for cross-overs is there. I mean what if capcom allowed SNK to have a SF team for instance.
I remember in one of the first interviews directed at Oda what he would think about doing another crossover series. I think he said he wanted to bring something to the table first then see what will follow from that. They have started from scratch now basically 3D wise so they need to pickup this part as experience i guess.
I wonder what the KOF Anime is basing itself on. I would love to see the characters in action…
Terry vs Geese… Kyo vs Iori… K’ vs Kyo… Ryo vs Terry… So many things I hope SNKP/SNK Entertainment explore.
