The entire roster is graphically WIP. King of Dinosaurs looks great, Chang looks great, etc., other people need more work. When everyone is finalized it will be better.
It would have helped if SNKP just initially announced their new title KOFXIV and then showcasing the game at the PS event post-announcement. Upon announcing the title and that a demo is playable at the PS event from last year it probably would net some much better results and a lot less backlash from how it looked in the first place.
Then they would showcase more in the following year (as of 2016).
I think the issue is that SNKP announced the game when itâs rawest form in development (although, as it turns out, it wasnât anywhere near as bad, though the graphics from the time it was announced is almost meme-worthy).
And, you gotta admit, KOFXIV is definitely showing a lot of improvement, not just in terms of graphics but its general presentation and game play as well. I would like to remain optimistic.
Maybe Iâm just a stupid biased fanboy so my opinion isnât worth anything, but to me, KoFXIV is a game that gets better every time I see it and I have a pretty deep intense craving to play it. SFV on the other hand, ever since the E3 build got worse every time I saw it, and I actually got to play the beta for that game but it just kept getting less and less fun to the point where I didnât even play the final beta because I didnât care. For all the shit people talk about the graphics, SNK is doing straight magic with the gameplay. Mechanically, it looks like the best KoF game, and as long as they can even halfway manage the balance, it might just end up being the best KoF game.
Man 50 characters is going to be hard to balance, I trust snk to do a good job but with this many characters I donât want another repeat of 2k2um where u have characters like K and Kasumi and on the very far end BAEnessa, may Lee etc etc.
One of the reasons I got hyped about this game is because from what I could tell about the gameplay vids and teasers, it appears to faithfully recreate the 2D KOF games. Capcom has always struggled making the 3D SF games feel and play like SF games IMO. Not to bash on them but SF4 never felt like a real SF game to me and V while V is a improvement it still doesnât have that SF feel I love. I might suck at 98 but I love the mobility and freedom the engine provides. If KOFXIV can recreate even half of that experience it will be a amazing game.
By the way, I just donât understand Kulaâs new design.
That white piece looks off as hell and doesnât fit the overall color scheme. They should have used red instead of white. I donât even know what that piece is supposed to do. Itâs like not an easy access panel or something. Honestly, I would have been totally fine with just a 3D version of old Kula, just like what Kâ got, although I wouldnât mind if Kâ lowers his jacketâs zipper a little bit for some manservice.
If kula and chang are anything to go by it will look like the plastic look wonât be a problem by be time release comes out. It might not be SFV pretty it will still be a very attractive game. Also why canât we get betas like SFV I wanna play the game already.
I hate SFVâs art style. They did drastically improve it visually from day one, but I still donât like how it looks. That being said I remember when the first announcement trailer came out and everyone was hype, I thought the game graphically looked like shit, but everyone disagreed.
Hopefully someone records matches from the new build, there wasnât really any recorder at TGS other than the ones on the stage demo and like 2 others
