This is a true statement, now that you mention it back in the 02 days I remember a lot of people doing the most random stuff with Vanessa to the point where it was annoying but I would still get hit by shit. Angel too is one of those characters that can be really annoying when people are doing random shit or just straight mashing, and let’s not get started with the “STRIKERS” games lol.
I think people are being defensive because with all the shit that we’ve put up with in the past, KOF XIII is not that bad. Also I see the type of shit that some other games have like MvC3 and they make KOF XIII look like heaven.
Also I won’t be able to attend the NorCal ranbat, I’ll be in France at the WGC during that day.

that’s depressing for me. bought the game right before exam season last year, wouldn’t work with my stick, which now does after the patch. should’ve just bought it now since i wasn’t able to play it the whole time. sigh, hindsight will be the death of me.
any thoughts on whether or not the wiki is up to date and overall a solid resource for learning characters? or are the character threads noticeably better in terms of recency? sorry, i’m laughably behind in this game. i tried figuring out some basics on pad a few months ago but couldn’t bear much of it.
Wiki is pretty damn complete, character threads are decent to meh depending on if they even exist. Any info not in the wiki you can probably find in the dreamcancel wiki or forums.
I need to get this dp into fireball move/motion down, for some reason, I can do it with K’ in HD mode kinda easy, but outside I don’t get it, any advice/wiki link to help me out?
Oh, there’s a number of ways to do that.
You can do it cleanly. For example, you have to do f,d,df without hitting forward twice. Then, without going forward, go d, df, f for the fireball. Turn your inputs on and see if you can do a dp clean in three inputs with your stick. If you feel this is a bit too hard (It wasn’t easy the first time around), you can do short/longcuts to make it easier.
We’re going to name some shortcuts for how to do dp.
DP Short/Longcuts
f,d,f
f, db, f
hcb,f
Notice that the each one doesn’t do df twice. If you do df twice in an input chain, it makes you do a super. So if you turn on your inputs, do these short/longcuts, watch out for hitting df twice outside of your fireball motion.
I have the most success with HCBF input with K’ when drive cancelling a DP into C Ein trigger. Experiment with them all, naturally.
A peculiar thing I’ve noticed when in HD with him is that it becomes entirely unnecessary to do any shortcut, 623A6C works like a charm in place. I was trying to wrap my head around that- insights?
This new online patch is a huge improvement. Even yellow bars are good now. Who would have thought?
I’m getting really salty that no one is playing KOFXIII in my local scene. In fact, the only game that has multiple people playing seriously is UMvC3. How am I supposed to get practice with this game? :sad:

Only time I get offline comp is when I have time to goto UVP arcade. They got a XIII Cab with a Neo-Geo Setup which im still getting use too.
It’s actually like that on purpose. That chain is balls easy in HD mode.

As for the KOF patch for xbox, I assume I have it yet I didn’t download anything?? I been getting all 3 and 4 bars, only one 4 bar was laggy but I assume it was him downloading/family using the net while online, he stopped, then resumed like 6 seconds later.

In my community is actually the contrary, we play KOF XIII instead of Marvel now and we are still playing AE 2012 and SCV recently.
Getting Philly casuals in has been a bit of an issue, I’m not getting nearly as much play time as I’d like to right now. 2/3 of my team can’t be picked at UP plus I’m feeling too lazy to relearn SNK button format just to play there. If anyone knows any place in this area where people are playing let me know. I’m about a week away from trekking to Jersey to find comp.
Yup, dat button layout is a trip; but im sure I’ll adapt to it in like a hour or a half when I have the time. I also had problems with the :snkc: on the 1st players side. It would go on & off on me.
I stopped by there late last night while getting off of work for a few minutes just to see wats up; watching this dude play the cpu and him hitting :snkc: and it not coming out occasionally & just ignored it lol.
