I bought SSF4AE when GameStop had it on sale for $20 for Black Friday, in anticipation of the 2012 update.
But, alas, I cannot manage to get this KOF disc out of my PS3. I mean, there’s nothing physically preventing me from doing it, but everytime I consider hitting that eject button, I just end up playing more KOF.
I am not too excited for NESTS Kyo after watching the video. I feel that the current version has a lot more useful tools. Things like cancelable df D, easy upkick juggles, ex command grab, fireball far outweigh the benefits of armored rekkas. Am I missing anything?
After the seeing the comparison video between both Kyo’s, I too suspect that XIII Kyo will emerge the superior version in the end. Things like being able to do a standing C after a corner Orochinagi isn’t some really serious. EX RED Kick punishing FBs is great an all I dunno. Too early to really call though. Need to see how well he can beast first.
imo he won’t be as useful as Normal Kyo. If only he had all his tools from the NEST series then I would pick him up. He seems so bland without it… cmon give me his command grab super and half circle back b/d moves. You gave ex Iori so many moves from the NEST series but this Kyo seems depressing to watch.
All that comparison video did was show us what Original Kyo can do that EX Kyo can’t. We still haven’t seen what EX Kyo can do that Original Kyo can’t.
If EX Kyo doesn’t end up being the king of corner combos and/or HD combos, I’ll eat my shorts.
I do feel EX Kyo got pretty shorthanded considering he’s supposed to be based off his “nests saga” Kyo. But he’s really looking like 98 Kyo with RED Kick so far from the video.
I just hope the EX characters do well enough that we see more of them.
I want an EX Terry (Garou Outfit + Various left-out moves like Power Dunk, Power Charge and Power Stream for his NeoMax), EX Robert (AOF3/NGBC Outfit + Charge Moves) and EX Kensou (KOFXI Outfit + Classic moveset). I wouldn’t even play as EX Robert or EX Kensou much, but I’d get them just because I know people in my group who would.
It seems people are slowly realizing that “NESTS Style Kyo” is not actually NESTS Kyo. It’s actually '98 Kyo, but he stole NESTS Kyo’s shirt. He forgot how to do his qcb+P attack, learned the Oniyaki ender for the Dokugami series (from 2001), and learned another DM from 2000 as his Neo Max, but everything else is '98 Kyo.
Incidentally, XIII’s “normal” Kyo is actually '95 Kyo, but he stole 2003 Kyo’s outfit.
I’d assume they’re saving new characters for a new game. Besides, if they just stick to giving new moves sets to old characters, it’ll be less work for them and it’ll keep the character select screen from getting cluttered - all while still adding to variety in terms of playstyles.
Yeah, “NESTS” Kyo is a mishmash of rekka Kyo. I guess since they gave Orochi and Ash Saga outfits to one Kyo, they had to use the NESTS. Still wanting his MI outfit though. It’s boss.
Problem there is making 1 new model in this style of art for SNKP in their current situation takes about a year total. Which is why it took XII so long to come out (and pretty sure why Elizabeth was in the early KOFXII poster art for the arcade version but nowhere to be seen afterwards) and why we’re getting palette swaps for DLC. (along with Hwa/Joe and Mature/Vice. Even though they’re different enough in playstyle.)
I’ll still play 98 Kyo though. I was never a big fan of fireball/95 Kyo. Even if 98 Kyo doesn’t have his fucking hcb+P move.
That’s why I’d rather them keep things as is, give people time to figure the game out for now. As much as I would like to see some old favorites return, it’s not practical.
Dunno. There was Shion/Adelheid/Heidern place holders in the Hex code, and Shion is heavily implicated for a return at the end of Story Mode’s Epilogue. So I’m wanting to guess Shion. But whether they do it or not is based on their development schedule and that’s where it really lies in. They want to add in characters, it all depends on if they’re going to do an Arcade patch release with more characters, simultaneously update Arcade and Console, work on a new KOF, or scrap the whole thing. Who knows
