Robert is not a Blonde, Caucasian, American male.
Maybe they’d pick Robert as a “Tier-hugger” situation (if he proves to be good), but your casual player who picks on looks and ease of relating to the character, will only pick Robert because he “Looks Pimp!”
But you hear from a LOT of people who think Terry is too retro / outclassed by someone like Ryo, so it’d really be interesting to see who casual people pick. Maybe Shen Woo or Andy?
Thats pretty much what I meant in my original comment, people picking him was based off looks and popularity, not ease of use or anything like that, since I got neg repped for my comment. Though Terry may look retro, he is still one of if not the most recognized SNK character in the U.S.
I compared him to Ken because Ken, though easy to use, you could also pick Akuma and Ryu and still get down the move set. The thing is, Ken is a blonde, caucasian american which I think contributes to casual people wanting to pick him.
^I still highly doubt that. Both Ryu and Ken were made for ease of use. The fact that you can’t spam POWA WAVUH, BURN KNUCKA, and CRACK SHOE because they’re can easily be punished. He doesn’t even have a reversal (since I don’t think Rising Tackle has reversal properties and even then it’s a charge move) for easy reliance. I still think that they’ll jump on Ryo, Robert, Joe and Andy instead, because of familiarity and simplicity’s sake.
That’ll probably happen after they discover the fact of “simplicity’s sake”
Casuals compare this to SF and think they play the same so based on the fact of what they’ve seen without actually playing
and the fact Ryu and Ken haven’t really evolved that much throughout the years I have to believe they were made for ease of use
This is a moot point, but Robert is Italian, and that makes him Caucasian.
I dunno, as iconic as Terry is hes not exactly easy to use for a beginner. His moves act nothing like what a typical Ken player would want. Who knows though.
Going back to Terry, can he combo his CD attack after his F+A. Or is that only in CC mode.

I think a lot of people at first will pick Terry for the reason that some people pick Ken, based on looks and maybe “coolness?”. I also think that a lot of casuals will get an idea that Terry is easy to use and try to spam his burn knuckle and power wave until they realize how easily they can be punished, then they will jump on the Ryo, Robert, and Andy
Yeah, I get the impression that Terry’s moves arent very safe and abusable as they used to be. If it was Real Bout Terry, dragon punch motion rising taco and all. Hed probably keep the msot scrubs and new people
I think abusable is more of the better term for terry.

Terry’s specials haven’t been safe nor very abusable in (non-3D) KOF in a LONG time.
On the other hand, Ken’s DPs aren’t really safe in SF4 but that doesn’t stop the online scrubs there, does it?
