While this is true, it wasn’t only gamestop. A few sites had the 23rd up, and now all of a sudden they have the 27th. Although you can argue they got their dates from gamestop.

If they hold back on their promise it’s coming this Friday, Gamestop are freaking jackasses for fooling their customers like this. This close to release, they should definitely know when they are receiving it.

If this is some strategy to get more pre-orders in before getting the game shipped to them, it’s a wasted effort on their part.

I think Best Buy and other stores heard about the early shipments and complained enough to Ignition to halt those shipments from reaching those stores before the 28th.

the only sites that had it up besides gamestop were kotaku(which was odd seeing as they made a short article telling that the 28th was the release date) gamefaqs/gamespot(it still does say 7/23 but it’ll probably change soon) and finally the wiki entry for KOF XII

Lil’ bit of an overstatement there, duder, it’s literally a difference of four days. Just be glad you’re not in Europe, pretty sure they’re getting it the end of August.

I think it’s a sales struggle between Gamestop and other stores that sell games.
The others stores must of caught on to what GS was doing, so they had Ignition pull the brakes on the early parade, after threats of not investing in their games.

I called all the Gamestops within a 20 mile radius of me and they all still say it’s coming in tomorrow. We’ll see. I also called a Gamecrazy just to check and they said they are getting it next week on the 28th, but they confirmed it’s not street dated.

Something is definitely interfering. It’s as if, Ignition didn’t care when stores get it and sell it, but now they are putting GS’s plans on hold.

That’s some really fast chain of events though, I wonder if they just make a phone call to the warehouses or wherever the supplies of games are stored and just change the day they are allowed to start shipping them?

Friday will definitely give us a clear answer what’s going on. but if it does come this Friday, then maybe it was a false alarm?

While probable, highly unlikely. Pretty sure if the 23rd/24th release date was legitimate, all the other stores could sell it the same day so there would be no reason that companies would call Ignition and cry about it. This is King of Fighters, not Halo or GTA. Big companies probably wouldn’t lose much money on it.
