I’ve never played KOF…only Fatal Fury and Art of War…
After reading the hype, I decided to go pick one up. Will pop it in when I get home from work. Hopefully you guys have not failed me.

Why all the negativity? People who anticipated this game already understood that arcade mode was time trial, they have all seen the menu’s previously, they knew the character roster, and the changes to the roster. Crappy online play on before actual release date? Expected. I’ve never purchased a game and found a good online experience for at least a few days, I even anticipate weeks.
But I will reserve judgement till I get it. I’ve played this game in the arcade, and if it’s anything like the arcade on the console, then I have no complaints.
I just got back from Gamestop because I went to return something and the game’s already out… I didn’t buy it though. Still Iffy… I think I can expect bad online play before the actual release date though, but how’s everything else? I’ve never been a big SNK player scept for some of the classic FFs and KOF98/2001 but I’ll definitley pick this up if it’s worth it.
If the online is good or u got people to play with. the game itself is a lot of fun, just doesn’t really offer much outside of actually playing with other people.
got mine today at a lamestop. I like the characters Iori is pretty cool as far as the progression of his fighting style. I feel that the tiers of the characters will formulate extremely fast. I love the dynamics of the screen movement and the new fighting features. However this game is very short, has the bare minimum possible as far as extras go and zero unlockables. Just feels like snkp was lazy.
And I know by saying this Im gonna get attacked for saying this but no console characters, no unbroken bosses, no story. Just nothing extra for the customer that spends $60 plus tax of their hard earned money. Lets hope they have a shitload of downloads coming in the future. please god some stages maybe 1 more character anything!!!
I dont see why bare bones is such a problem, not much added from arcade is iffy, but really does it matter? Who in SF4 played arcade mode other than to unlock characters, which is annoying to do.
If online is fixed…then it’s solid. That’s all it needs. If you want to play against cpu, you can just blitz through a few rounds like there are now.
No offense to anyone on this board or gamers in general, but does nobody have friends anymore? When did gaming become so anti-social? I never gave a damn about online, and still don’t. I mean online is a nice luxury (when it works) to play other competition, But ultimately where is the disconnect here?
Consoles didn’t just kill arcades they killed a great network of friendly ties. Some of my best friends through life have started with conversations about games we love, in arcades that we love.
People bailing on a great company cause online sucks, is disheartening. What’s worse is they are unapologetic about it.
I play with my friends online, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about? It’s also much harder to get together to play games these days since most people have jobs, gfs, wives, etc.
In terms of online, it’s 2009 and people expect games to come out with features comparable to other games in the same category? HDR, SF4, and BB all have playable netcode, yet SNK continues to disappoint.
We understand that there have been some concerns raised about performance during online play. A patch for the both platforms is being worked on which should help with those gamers experiencing issues. While I don’t have an exact date for the Xbox 360 version, the PS3 patch should be available by the street date July 28, 2009
from their facebook
idk what the fuss is aboutt online was unplayable the first few days for BlazBlue.
Can’t comment on the loading times… however; the ps3 version does have an install option (which actually only takes about 3 minutes). Load screens don’t seem to long to me.
I’m enjoying the game. It feels… good. I love the backgrounds, and I’ve switched to soft filter 1. If the backgrounds weren’t so pretty I might have to complain about the pixelation. As it is; I really like it thus far.
The good…
-Gameplay. Old school KOF gameplay. Love it. Translates well from Arcade.
-Console characters were fun during my quick playthroughs.
The bad…
-On large tvs the graphics look all pixelated.
-Netcode is awful. Needs a patch big time.
-Doesn’t really offer much besides gameplay.
I love the game because I love the gameplay, but a warning the online sucks becuase of horrible netcode and the great graphics don’t look so great on most tvs.
sigh There was no street date on the game so whenever it came into the store, it was sold. Which was today. Also, don’t ever complain about pre-orders. If you care that much about the game, go reserve it. It doesn’t cost you anything extra and you can take your time getting to the store.
That said, I like the game thus far. Quite fun with local multi though I have to readjust from playing so much SF4.
Quite simple, its SNK we are talking about on SRK…
haha…had to.
Yeah, I just got a copy from a local Gamestop. They said they only had one (for the 360).
There was no hassle concerning a street date or release date or anything of that nature. I just asked for it and they opened the shipping crate and gave it to me. Something tells me that niche titles are generally exempt from any sort of street date related exclusivity.
Now to test this broken online function…
I have to change my mind on the looks once i put a filter on my HD it looked alot better.
You’ll get attacked especially because there are 2 console characters : Mature and Elisabeth
^^
SNK has no clue what’s it’s doing with online play. KOF 98 and Mark of the Wolves both have terrible netcode. KOF XII has the same. They ddin’t learn from their mistakes. That’s three strikes.
BlazBlue sucked for a few days and patched it up. There weren’t previous games to learn from. That’s the difference.
…you are aware they already acknowledged the problem and will be patching it by tuesday (the actual release date)
Just a fyi
Yeah he’s right, there’s gonna be an official patch on the “Official release date”.
Hope this fixes the lag, because KOFXII really has potential to be a great Fighting game (online)
