KOF XII - Ash Crimson thread

chris crocker is ash crimson

Well, I hear that Ash is very popular in Japan unlike America and some other Western countries. Personally Ash is my favorite character. I think SNKP was trying to develop someone that you’ll love to hate or hate to love. Reason being is that some flamboyant 16yr old that comes outta nowhere is making a mockery of the series’ main characters(Kyo, Iori, Chizuru). I think that people should stop saying that he’d be better as a girl. Seems like SNKP has sure gotten a rise outta you and many others. Ash IS the Protaganist right now. You’re gonna have to deal with it. Ash is awesome.

Ash became my new favorite for two reasons: 1) I can turtle and win. 2) GOD HE’S SO DREAMY.

He’s my favorite. I hate Kyo, he’s a doosh. I like how Ash uses his people for his own goals and how he mocks ppl as well. He’s… well… he’s an ass, and I love that lol.

Question: What is the best thing to go for after a throw? He has a good throw, leaves the opponent close and they can’t fallbreak it.

Time a charged CD attack for a guard crush and cancel it into a super.

Didn’t think of that. Thanks

I suppose one could go for a combo off of a cr. B
or throw out a flame on top of them.

One possible use is to kiss behind your opponent, jump over them, then it hits crossup. I think it’s theoretical if perfectly spaced. Kiss, generaXII combo (low B, low A, whatever you can get off it)

All I’ve gotten off a kiss so far is a sweep, but I’m sure I spaced it wrong, and it’s not a core staple of his play, just shenanigans.

Yeah the kiss doesn’t add very much. The start-up is bad overall, small hit-box and with the delay it doesn’t stay out long. More of an annoyance if anything.

I only use the kiss when someone is jumping toward me. They will land in it and get knocked down 95% of the time.

I only use the closest kiss for **that one **situation by the way.

I must admit, I feel the exact same regarding Ash (I’ll still use Kyo). Ash is one of those characters (like Iori) that I just find really cool. He fights like he is not even trying, so I would love to see if they ever had a version of him where her went “all-out” (no gay pun intended).

Anyway:

I am having a hard time figuring out whether to use Sans-Culotte or the flash kick super at the end of a CC. Does anyone think SC is better because you can follow up after it? Just wondering.

I didn’t know you could follow-up. But not knowing that and not being able to perform it still I may come off as a hypocrite when I say “the flash kick” super. Does more damage and it’s guaranteed, unlike a failed follow up attempt to the SC, if ya know what I mean.

As for doing the Sans-Culotte:

I use a HRAP3, with this set-up:
(a)©
(b)(d)

I tried to slide my index and middle fingers down the buttons, but that seldom worked (for whatever reason…my guess is that it was too fast) so I have to tap each button really fast. When I do it, it reminds me of typing on a keyboard, because there is almost no discernable time between presses.

Now, I could be crazy, but I could have sworn that last night I was in practice and I was landing a CC something like:

Activate, insert string of punches and kicks, Sans-Culotte (Hold down during super), Sans-Culotte finishes, up+b for flash kick.

Not sure about damage on that one, but I am pretty damn sure that is how it went.

care to share these combos? eventhough they are supposidly rare, i’d still like to know them.

Ash is a beast in this game. He’s one of my favs and a main.

Nero7154, I use the flash kick super at the end of the cc.

C.C. combo, probably max dmg in corner…

CC, 2D, 4~6Cx2, Flash Kick Super

If you want to be fancy, but not care for dmg, ABC*D super into flash kick can replace the flash kick super

I’m intrigued as well, like KOFXI combos? If so seems we woulda seen these already on youtube or combovids or something, lol.

Here is a Midscreen CC with good damage for Ash imo:

[CC] c.C, c.D, b+B, b~f+A, Dash in , c.C/s.C(both works) [CCends] s.CD xx qcfx2+k 12 hits 448dmg.

Hardest part for this combos is the s.CD that needs to be hit almost OTG to get the desired 12hits and the desired 448dmg.

well it’s definitely not the most damage he can get in the corner. For one thing the ABC*D super actually does more damage because it allows for another rep of 4~6C into a D flash kick. That raises the damage of your combo from 466 to 493 right there.

EDIT:

OK so here’s what I have come up with for ash’s corner CC:

CC, b+B, b+D, b+B, short hop immediate j.D (CC ends) falling j.C, c.A, 4~6A, link st.C, C+D, 4~6A, flash kick super

The whole thing does 602 DMG! If you want to push them into the corner somewhat you can just substitute b+B for the b+D. To push them into the corner a lot you could always just dash cancel a bunch of normals while holding forward too. Anyways, let me know what you guys think of this combo. It’s a little tricky at first, but once you get some of the timings down you’ll get it.

Also a shout out to an earlier post in this thread by Lycanthropy, explaining Ash’s ability to link off his A fireball. That technique made reaching 600dmg possible!

I found a few CC’s using Ash today:

  1. (Corner) (s.C xx b~f.C, s.C xx b~f.A), s.C xx b~f.A, s.C xx CD xx b~f.C, qcfx2.K
    590 damage (about 70%)
    18 hits

  2. (Corner) (s.C xx b~f.C, s.C xx b~f.A), [s.C xx b~f.A]x2, qcfx2.K
    580 damage
    16 hits

  3. (b~f.C, b~f.A, f.C) d.C xx qcfx2.K
    493 damage (about 50%)
    12 hits

Note: The combos inbetween the parenthesis is during the CC animation.

The first two just have slightly different enders. The first one does more damage, but I personally think the second one is easier to do since you just need to do 4 reps of Ventse links. They’re no 600, but they’re close enough.

The third one is just a midscreen CC that I use. I used the f.C to reach my opponent so that Ash can move closer to successfully finish the combo.

Although CC’s are situational, it would be nice if we come up with better ones just in case the occasion arises. We need to maximize our damage.

Not wanting to sound rude but could you put the notations instead of the names of the special moves in the future? Unless I’m alone, I don’t think many spend the time learning the names of the moves or remember them haha.
