Man it’s like the 1up forums in here, how many 12 year old babies out there? Say word!
The only baby I see is the guy with the sean avatar.
Oh shi-
At my local arcade I see people walk right past the ever unplayed KOF12 machine and queue up for 98 and 2002 (interestingly 98UM isnt played much either.)
Although even they arent as popular as Tekken 6 or SF4. I am sad.
Wow thats no good. With the online as it is it excludes new players from giving it much of a shot… and on the other hand its a dulled-down, less offensive game… which annoys some of the old guard.
Um this is the second time you have brought this up that I have noticed.
Why don’t you jump on the KOF machines then! I’m pretty sure someone will come play you.
its a good topic dude how can MVC 2 a 10 year old game get it right and this new KOF get it so wrong personally as a SNK guy im embarrassed I like the gamplay better in kof12 but since i move like i am swiming cause of lag i have been playing MVC 2 more its sad
I’m having more fun online MVC2 and about equal fun from both on offline.
I’m having more fun with it too and I don’t even own Mvc2 on my xbox!
Cant’ really have your cake and it eat too, unless that cake tastes like Tekken 6 in October
Some people love comparing apples and oranges.
Good luck with that.
wow, i’m flattered you remembered when even i didnt
I tried, but sadly i suck so much I cant afford to singlehandedly keep 12 popular. Heck, i was even occasionally losing on the first match against the AI! I should be ashamed to mention it >_>
My skills have fallen quite far from the days of being barely competent in '97.
You cant compare apples and oranges, but peaches will always be superior
hahahaha…
terry kyo iori kensou = relentless offense gg
Good sir I believe you are mistaken this is the King Of Fighters thread, not the let’s throw baseless flame baits… March on elsewhere…
We should all make a complaint thread. Idea of the century!
You could fill a canteen with the tears in here =/
it’s so salty i want to drink up your tears so many people are crying wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Right.
KOF pretty much only appeals to hardcore fighting fans, and MVC appeals to everyone who has played SF before, likes Marvel heroes (everyone loves Spiderman and Xmen) and likes incredibly flashy shit.
Even if MvC2 was a shit port with horrid netcode it would outsell KOf at least 5 to 1.
Topic is useless but he’s right…MVC2 practically put the nail in the coffin for this game in the US. Decent online play is critical for a fighting game’s success in the US and it sucks considering the options for online play in the game are pretty cool. Once the word gets around casuals and some hardcores even will just not bother to pick up the game and save their money for Marvel.
It’s a really nice looking and playing game, but I can’t see myself investing a lot of time in it when I know a majority of the competitive players in my area won’t be either. Especially with zero incentive to play the game online.
Plus it doesn’t help that the thread for this game is kinda shooed away in the strategy thread. So people that want to talk about the game are off topic unless they find the strategy thread here that the masses aren’t really going to be looking at like they do with IV.
Either way I think it’s a great game and will probably play it at least a little bit. I always say this is basically the closest we’ll get to 3rd Strike HD Remix so might as well give it some play time.
Yeah but if all the game media or “journalists” forced fed "play KOF XII wow KOF XII we love KOF wow wow wow yay yay yay " like they did with SF IV or any other faggot ass mainstream game then there would be more players/exposure.
People are just slaves to what others will tell them to think/do.
I know right, WTH…, the one KOF XII thread that managed to stay in the FG section was shoved away also…
FUCK YEAH AMERICAAAAAAAA
Then again, the OP is Canadian so I don’t even know what to make of it
MVC2 has it’s fair share of bugs and glitches in its latest iteration though. And these are things that can actually be measured and verified since people have been playing the game literally for 10 years. I don’t think it’s merely just the internet, there’s more to it than that.
Let me propose then that people are unwilling to learn a new game or are uncomfortable doing so because they’ve spent so much time on another. Yes, KOF12 has its problems. Yes, it’s next to impossible to play online. But for those who keep saying “Oh mvc2 is the best”, and are willing to overlook the obviously glaring issues the game has, really makes me wonder how much kof they were playing back then when mvc2 was new, for example.
Like most things, people like familiarity, which seems to be no different with their games. I’m willing to say that if they feel like a game plays weird, or if they aren’t used to how the mechanics work (which kof games have always had different mechanics from the typical sf or versus series of games), it’s easy to understand how quickly they’ll discredit a new game just because they aren’t willing to give it an honest chance.
