KOF XI Thread :: Ver 2.0

looks more like mid level unless i’m watching the wrong matches

Sooo I have been messing with ex kyo alot lately, and he is just too damn good! Nice juggle combos, easy switch starters, godly normals. He’s not as good as (L) gato or anything but he definitely can hang with the other top tiers. And in the corner for 1 stock can do almost 80%, and there are a few variations on the combo… Though I’ve found the easiest/most damage is,

st.b~f+b, qcf+c into the chian into the explosion, then do the hcb+d, dp+a x3… also if you hae no meter you can just do the chain into dp+a x 3 pretty sick.

His dp is an always juggle as well so on some air to air hits you may be able to land first and DP them ngbc style. I don’t think he’s bannable but he’s definetly good.

i think ex kyo is pretty broken

why? I’m really just trying to foster discussion here because no one talks anymore!

Anyone have any good quick switch starters with Momoko outside of her super? I can’t find anything.

What about best follow ups to the grab super? Is anyone able to get ass, ass, Command grab super very consistently?
I wish more people would play.

NGBC Kyo + KOF = Disaster

kyo and many of the other ngbc characters in the game are overpowered compared to the rest of the characters however it is cool that they included them, i don’t really play them in that game, and just in NGBC

is there any reason to play Kyo as he is in XI when ex version exists? I think that’s why those characters are not used competitively… in Japan and US anyway.

but that aside ex kyo is really fun, and though I don’t play him really in XI because i haven’t spent a lot of time with the game to begin with, I do enjoy using him in NGBC

Well, I’ve messed with all the NGBC characters that are in KOF XI, and I’d say that none of them save maybe Kyo are really any better than alot of the cast. Mai and Mr. Big for instance just really aren’t that great. Tung also can have a hard time. As far as EX Kyo over regular Kyo, it’s really just prefrence, they both do around the same amount of damage, have similar combos and have similar switch tactics. Regular Kyo even gets the fireball which is something that would be very useful for ex kyo to have. I’d say hte difference between the two is pretty minimal… It all comes down to what you want, the extra help of the fireball plus higher stun rekka chains or better single damage and a slightly easier combo that costs a little meter.

i find Shion to be insanely fun to use.

whose shion? The boss? She is a little broken, mostly because she has a few really simple infinites and thats the real problem… Also the meteor move is crazy and (unblockable?) and does way too much damage for something that takes no meter and can be setup over and over again. I wouldn’t say she should be considered a playable character, similar to magaki.

There is a reason to play Regular Kyo over EX Kyo- BECAUSE EX KYO AINT TOURNEY LEGAL…

Serious though Ex Kyo aint legal so you can learn him but you wont be playing him i a tournament…

WORD. PS2 only characters, aren’t tournament legal.

Stupid question, but why? (haven’t played yet)

They arent tournament legal because they aint in the arcade…thats been the rules since the beginning of time…

Sam ewith Goodman in NGBC…reason he aint legal is because hes not playable in the Acade…

But Young Geese in NeoWave is different…not only is he TONED DOWN but hes also playable in the arcade version as playable character.

well thats why I started this discussion, because I was trying to talk to people about why they shouldn’t be tourney legal. Its not like america’s snk scene is all big in the arcade, for the most part we all only play snk games on console, and since the console only characters, excluding the bosses aren’t broken I don’t understand why they shouldn’t be allowed. At first I was one the bandwagon about them not being in the arcade so we shouldn’t use them, but really if there is no reason beyond that, why not allow them? I would allow them… In japan there was a kanto versus kansai tournament that was played in arrange mode. And seeing as this game is basically dead in japan arcades, we might as well switch to console rules just to keep this game interesting. The guys at ryuuko seems to be able to do it okay and things turn out fine. Oh well it’s not like I’ll really play this game in tourney anytime soon…

I’m personally fine with it believe me…because then I would have a crazy team of Kula-Gaot-Geese or Kula-Geese, Duolon (Leader)

I just unfortunately run into this alot hence as a tournament director have to go by it…hence I have to have a separate tournament for "Console characters only"and stuff like that…

I understand what you are saying. However, I truly believe emulating the arcade rosters/movesets/modes, is better overall. There is no new shifts in balance, and everything can be easily learnt from existing resources.

Also in the case of XI, I like the idea of fucking around with EX characters and such.
Thing is, It also brings this question forth:
“Why not play NGBC characters in NGBC?”.

I have to admit, it would be interesting to see DG using, Geese (L), Mr.Big and Gato (Thats pretty fucking broken).
But it also produces

i know nothing about this game in arrange mode, but it might be interesting to play

and yes I know where to get the information on the changes I just haven’t bothered

if the PS2 characters were tourny legal, then the game change from being KoFXI to Shion/EX-Kyo/Gato(L)XI.

Arrange mode KOFXI makes the game tighter as far as inputs.and people dont like that because they dont like the feel of the older KOFs like 2k2 etc…

It also balances out a lot of things.

So you have the OG Arcade is right Argument vs. the new school arugment…I am somewhere in between actually…

But I have to be the standard as a SNK tournament director…thats where I have to make the choice…

so all this talk about tournament play etc. etc. well there be any tourny play for this game ? and i know this is wishful thinking well evo be down to host this game and ngbc??
