KOF XI Thread :: Ver 2.0

Well I was always under the impression that he is 2 be played defensively. Slow movinf projectile and plenty of anti-airs. Though he has some real nasty combos in XI

maybe cause kensou hasnt been really good since 95,96,97,98 and they got used to using him as keep away i guess.:wonder:

oops that was suppose to be hate … its VERY annoying but I over came it by lots of counter moves. I might start playing as him just to annoy the other guys =D and show them how the game is TRUELY played. (by not turtling)

What do you mean?

I thought he was supposed to be damn-near broken in 99.

Nice big fireball with variable speeds, cancellable from cr.D + guard strings + command throw mixup = straight up lockdown. =P

His keepaway is good, but with the damage I could do when I’m in their face (and setting up for Vanessa infinite from midscreen), I don’t see a point to playing keepaway with him, aside from meter building and judgement wins.

Return of Shiki: He had a really dumb infinite in 99, so yeah, you are correct.

OK guys I would like to have a serious opinion on an issue I having with my team members. As I mentioned on the past I thought I had an infinite with OSWALD, so I had my friends try it out to see if it was legit. It basically is a combo that RESETS your opponent to a position where you can apply the Unblockable on the wake up. This is confirmed, if on the wake up your opponent tries to block you will hit him or if he tries to do a wake up move or super you will beat it. The only thing that I didn’t pay attention to was that you can simply roll out of it before it hits you, meaning that is no longer an infinite maybe just a reset.

Now the debate is, should this move be banned. Since your opponent can actually get out of this “RESET” by simply rolling. I do believe in banning the UB when a character is coming in but this is different your opponent can do something about it and even punish you. I woul like to hear some of you guys opinions since this will determine if it will be banned at EVO 2006. As of now only VANESSAS infinite and OSWALDS unblockable when a character is coming in are banned.

If theres a way out of it, then it shouldnt be banned

Vanessa’s infinite is banned? Lol why?

Answer, if you can throw somebody before they get out of the roll animation, then yes, it should be banned. Because then the person would be on the ground again, facing the exact same problem.

But if you can roll out of it safely, then no. This is way too similar to waking up to a Clark player: Feels like you can’t do anything about it, but it IS possible to get out of it.

But then again, can’t you Saving Shift?

You cant do Saving Shift, but you can roll out of it and punish him.

While banning the unblockable on a coming-in opponent is still pretty easy to enforce, if you start allowing it in certain situations and not in others, you end up with a consistency problem. This is something that would require a lot more playtesting and so it should probably be banned for Evo, but afterwards the issue can be looked into further.

Nah, it shouldn’t be banned. If you can punish him, all it takes is some common sense to know how to get out of it.

just roll

Can I get an answer as to why the Vanessa infinite is banned? :frowning:

About Oswalds shit, I don’t think you should ban it, although as a result, waking up next to him is now a 50/50; get hit by ub or get thrown/comboed out of roll.

I understand that the “reset” version of the unblockable is escapable. It’s just that like I said above, if you start allowing the same glitch in certain situations, then it’s not consistent. The move is still a glitch, but it’s okay in this situation? That would be like saying Roll Cancel is okay as long as nobody tried to hit you out of a move.

I should note that I’d like to actually see this infinite/reset in action.

in SBO it specifically ban the use of 10 only against incoming opponents…im have not seen the footage yet but i guess its okay to use it after overhead clover / throw, etc.

now i want to know what can i do to punish if i whiff 10 early and bait a roll going either direction

1.Because is an INFINITE:confused:

2.True, or until somebody can figure out a setup where you have to block on the wake up (wich I already am looking for :wgrin: )

You have a very good point. Thats why Im trying to get everybody’s opinion. I can’t really remember right now but I believe that in some other games there are some glitches allowed depending in the situation, can anybody help me with this?

Well in Tenka pounce throw is allowed, as long as you don’t go for the pounce throw infinites. If pounce throw wasn’t allowed iruka wouldn’t be as much of a beast.

Thank you

Thank you, if SBO allows it than I guess is ok for the rest of us. I’m 99% convinced that we should allow this move at EVO 2006 anybody wants to finish me up.

If you were to ban the Oswald thing, then we should’ve banned Duolon as a character back in 2k3.

As for the Vanessa one, it’s not simply because of the infinite, but the fact that from that point on if you kill one char from jump the judgement pendulum is FAR in her favor.
