I’ll get this collection just for 94 alone but it sucks that out of all the games 94 is the only one without an in game AST. 98um has an in game ast I know that.
that or unless I get rebout but the game is ridiculous expensive, aaaaargghhhrrrr!!!

I don’t mind the OST, my issue is loading time and sound delays. Playmore’s(ok I guess SNK’s, period) always had bad loading history, but recently they were getting worse. I thought they cleaned that stuff up with Fatal Fury BA 1 and 2 which btw are in fantastic condition, but I guess not.
I can’t imagine complaining about the AST not being accessible in game. Honestly? It’s 5 KOF games, two of which I have shitty ports for already for PS1 and DC. So there’s a little load time, and I have to use Neo soundtracks. Way cheaper than buying the carts or Neo CD or Saturn versions.
Though admittedly, I don’t know why everyone wants Rebout so bad. I played it. It’s shitty ass 94 with higher res sprites. Gameplay is still ass

^ Unfortunately it ran like that for every game minus 94 while i was playing (completed each game once)
it gets worse, sometime while your playing the game looses sound, then tries really hard to catch it back up (that might just be a side effect of playing with umd cache settings)

96 had the best music out of like any KOF, why would people bitch about not having the AST in game for it…
If we’re talkin’ original MVS/Neo-Geo releases, KOFs were released with just the OST…so it’s not a big deal. It’s with console and NEO-CD releases that we got arranged sound tracks. It’s not a huge deal breaker…
I think loading and sound issues are a bigger issue. I ordered this on PS2 yesterday via Amazon, so hopefully, I’ll have it on Monday to provide additional feedback for those sitting on the fences.
But looking at the price, you can’t go wrong.

It’s just that, like most of these SNK collections, each store gets like one because they don’t expect to even sell that.
Luckily I have 3 gamestops in my area. First one had already sold it’s copy, but the 2nd store I checked had a sealed one.
Apparently they had two actually. Which is lucky because the guy I bought it from also happened to be an SNK head and was saving a copy for himself. lol
So yeah, pretty sure Gamestop and stores like it(game devoted stores) are the only ones getting in store copies, and those are probably going to be pretty limited at that.
From now on I’m just gonna pre-order the things when I know they’re coming to save myself the hassle. Once UM shows up on the site I’m doing just that.
The load/sound issues are the biggest deal about this collection. I can’t believe this actually got released. The only thing good about the collection is the training mode it offers, because at least the combos and hitboxes are spot on (thank god). But with the god awful navigation of training mode and lack of options (think kof xi as an example of a good training mode).
I am truly disappointed. I hope SNKP usa doesn’t fuck up um and the OG 98 will be good on that one. Load times make this unbearable, the games are like 10-14 years old. How can you not have it arcade perfect? Especially for a system that can handle more than arcade perfect. I don’t know if this was a fuck up or true laziness from the company. I am probably going to go with a combination of both.

but I even find those loading times bearable(granted I just came off the PSP version, lol)

Everything else is fine so no complaints from me.
The load times are even on the ps2 version, its really not bearable especially after playing these on 2df. I bought this for 98 and training mode so I didn’t have another app. on when I could be using my ps2 instead. The collection is supposed to give you the games the way they were meant to be and this collection failed at that.
After playing XI (the US version is pretty much flawless), I was expecting so much better.
Let’s not exaggerate here. It didn’t “fail”. The gameplay itself is fine. The loading times aren’t that bad. It doesn’t load between rounds, only between matches. A few seconds. Were not talking Sega Saturn here. Also, 94 and 95 only really load before you start your VERY first fight…after that none.
Plus, there’s training mode, challenge mode, unlockable artwork and music, and KOF 94 and 98 which weren’t even supposed to be in this compilation at all. If I get all that in exchange for a little loading time, then I’m glad I signed up.
And, oh yeah, it’s 15 bucks.
You guys should be happy that you got the collection for the US with the training mode and the other modes that were really needed. I feel shortchanged after buying the japanese collection. I feel like buying the US version after hearing about the missing stuff that are present. Load times are not an issue for me, and I already own KOF 98 ultimate match with the original 98’ intact(arcade perfect). I am only buying this for the older KOF games and it’s dirt cheap too!
Man I dont know why people are defending the load times, but they are. You can honestly get every neo geo. KOF with training mode on mame on your pc if you are willing to look hard enough. And no loading. I also didnt get this collection fo4 94 and 95. Because 94 sucks and I never played 95. I got it for 97 and 98…also 96 is nice since its a free bonus
Load times should never exist in a fighting game. I’m not trying to come off as an elitist or a purist or anything of that nature but thats how it is. It’s like the modern day SNES alpha 2 (i know its not THAT horrible, its hyperbole). Challenge mode can go sleep with Lil Kim without a rubber, its just a time waster to unlock some art which is probably all over the internet and same thing with the music. Some of the challenges were fun and creative though, I’ll give them that.
Who cares if its 15 bucks if you get this in return? Just because its low priced doesn’t mean you should get imperfection of the desired product in return. That’s like saying worms should be in my apples because I payed 79 cents a pound instead of the standard 99 cents.
