So is the game out in the US?
Dang why do they always make kyo, iori or k overpowered as heck…
what the heck is wrong with the programers…
Do they enjoy riding off the nuts off these characters…
Somebody figured out how to do the Athena glitch I mentioned where she gets the crystal DM stuck on her fist (plus he made a 100% damage combo that involves running into your opponent and jumping XD ).
During the second half of the crystal loops you do the crystal shoot motion with a turbo pad. The the crystal gets stuck on Athena’s hand and can do 7 hits. Actually I figured out an easy way to do it on a regular pad; just mash the punch buttons first and then wiggle the directional pad while still mashing the punches.
And you can do more than one!??Altho it doesn’t seem to increase the hit count…
Yay, somebody who isn’t blinkered and knows that the game feels like. I was beginning to think I was the only one…
Whoah- what am I seeing? Somebody on srk willing to give a 3D game a fair crack of the whip? I’d come to expect that nobody would give polygons a fair go and would automatically shun them… Props.
Yay, another convert… Maybe their is hope for us yet…
Nice one all you guys- you’ve gone some way to reassuring me that there is a market for deep fighting games with nice graphics after all. Put it this way: if we don’t but these games and we leave them to plebs, then the sequel will be dumbed down to accomodate the market. Since there won’t be many more 2D KOF games, surely it’s in our interest that this game is a commercial success?
Umm, last time I checked, SNKP is still committed to 2D games, especially 2D KOFs. Hell, there’s still the shame of a game in NeoWave that Sammy released for them, the KOF’94 port/remake for PS2 and it’s said that KOF2k4 will also be in 2D. Besides they only abandoned the MVS anyway due to the fact that the MVS is an easy target for pirates. If the MVS never had that issue, then I doubt SNK/SNKP would abandon it ever. So I doubt this is their idea of a new flagship series, more like attention calling really.
“There won’t be many more 2D KOF games?” This year alone, we got/are getting KOF Neowave, KOF 10th Anniversary, and KOF 2004 as far as sprite-based KOF games go. That isn’t enough for you?
i really wanted this game to be good, but by the sounds of things it is really crap and only a die hard no snk game can be crap sort of person will still be playing this a month after US release.
who in the hell tests these games for snk? they are obviously crap at their job, surely svc should have taught them that. i fail to believe that if this company was american that these people would still have their jobs.
hopelfully they’ll try to iron out at least some of the crao before the other releases 'cos otherwise i might not even bother getting it.
please somebody tell me that this game is not gonna go down as a complete broken piece of crap like svc.
I usually give all fighting games a fair chance with me because I truly love to play fighters. I don’t shit on games before they come out or the first time I play them. I invest time into them and make decisions. Hell I still wanna play neo wave even with “recycled sprites” and all that stuff. That’s just how I am.
I dont think I can agree with u , games are made deep by the ppl who play them. Look at smash bros, i know ppl who treat that like a serious game. Its suprised the hell out of me with stuff like wave dashing, crouch cancel and etc… There are vids on the internet for goodness sake!!! It all depends on how u take this game. I personally will give it a chance but i dont know if it will be in any touraments.
P.S.- Why dont i see KOF games in tournaments? Cant wait for Isuka to come out!
Attached is a file containing all the combos I’ve found so far. Wall combos didn’t get messed with too much, but there’s a few good ones in there (peep the Terry and Mignon wall combos!).
A fighter is a fighter. Fighting game fanatics are an uncommon breed methinks. I don’t care about the brokenness at this point, I just want to play it. Lord knows I gave SvC a chance for a few weeks or so. =p

Gotta agree with this one, given SNK’s previous record of 3d fighters as well (sup FF:WA). MI’s a PS2-only title, and for me this spells ‘experiment’ for me. So far, so good. Here’s hoping future releases will be great as well. <3 SNKP.
Buk- neat. =)
Well, I didn’t mean literally right now… I just meant in the medium term future they will be phased out. Since the diehard fighting game community isn’t getting any bigger (ie older players retire, and younger people aren’t interested and are intimidated out), then it stands to reason that as the market shrinks more and more, there will eventually be a point where the profit is too small. No software company is that secure that they can plan more than about two years ahead.
I think it’s a bit of both. You can design games to be “serious”, but it can also happen by accident. Teris can be incredibly deep, and yet a really complex modern game can be entirely shallow. I guess the latter type is what appeals to most people, and occasionally, a game can be both…
WOW. I just got KOFMI for PS2 and it kix azz.
Tekkenish in nature with supers…teh shizz. Gotta learn this one.
Kudos to SNK/Playmore.
for those who imported (the VERY few) hows the DVD that came with it???
again, I’m getting a RBFF1 vibe out of this game from everything I’ve seen. I’m renting it first if I can, damn Sumter, but this and SFAC are the only 2d games I’d have any interest in for the forseeable future. Kof2k2 < 98 (barely, but it is) Kof2k3 and Isuka lack depth. Kof 2k2+3 2-pack for $20 might get me. tekken 5 looks interesting, rather see VF4ft, but doubt I will.
I think you can find vids of people doing anything on the internet. Sometime filming combo vids in Time Killers doesn’t really mean shit.
Anywho, this game sounds like a lot of fun to play. At home.
I see the extra disc in there, but havent watched it yet.
Its interesting how the game is packaged. Its in sorta a book sleeve. The DVD type box slides out, and also there is a pretty thick paperback book that slides out with the moves and profiles…pretty cool.
what are the tiers, who’s top and low
Kyo, Iori and Maxima (thanks to his infinite) seem to run the tiers at the moment. <-----I really hate these new smile faces
I think K’ is #1 right now imo.
His OTG sweep combo does 75%, and 99-100% if it’s a counter hit. The only catch is that you need 2 bars to do it (well actually only about 1 bar, since you gain a whole bar doing the combo before the super). I don’t think Maxima is top just because of the infinite. It takes a really long time to even get 50% off it, and you actually have to land the command grab in the first place. Even without bar, the combo does 50% on normal hit without the super on the end.
BTW, the combo is this one mentioned earlier:
d+HK, qcf+P~b+K, (d+HPxxqcf+P~b+K)x2, qcf,hcb+HP
