KOF Maximum Impact

Has anyone got this game already?

I have it and so far its pretty good. The gameplay feels much smoother than the Street Fighter EX series.

basically it sorta is like street fighter EX but has chain combos and a sidestep move.

It’s out in Japan. It’s not out in U.S. until September 15. I can’t wait to play it.

Edit. I just checked ebgames and it’s been delayed to fucking October 11. WTF!!!

Playing it, not really digging it. If you’re expecting it to play like a KOF game but in 3D, you’ll have to look elsewhere. It’s not comparable to SFEX in any way. SFEX plays like Street Fighter, just with some sillier combos and ugly character models. KOF:MI has some nice looking character models, but it plays nothing like KOF at all. Yes, they share some elements (low jump CD, forward and backward rolls), but KOF:MI is pretty much completely centered around up close fighting and its numerous chain combos. If anything, I would say it plays most closely to the Bloody Roar series.

A formal review will probably be on video-opera soon.

That’s cool with me. It’ll be nice to see KOF in a different light for me at least.

The game is good man its different thats why is good isn’t nice to have something different once in a while. Even oldschool characters feel new, but it still has that KOF feel to it

BTW my very reliable resources tell me it should be out next month.

The game just lost like 50 points. There’s a freakin COMBO LIMIT. This is the laziest way to prevent infinites ever, akin to MK4’s MAXIMUM DAMAGE thing. This game’s combo limit caps out at a measly 10 hits, which is pretty pathetic. If the 10th hit is a multi-hit move/chain, then you’re allowed to get all of the hits before the character flies away.

Oh well, my Clark semi-infinite still does about 50% off of any random hit with no meter.

THE ANSWER, have you played this game at all yet? I’m not really feeling anything KOF at all about it. Of course, my experience may differ from yours.

Damn Buk, don’t make me feel like I’ll be wasting my Yen when I go to Geo tonight to pick it up…=/

well, its still sorta fun… I guess
yeah, Im glad I wasnt the only one to notice the bloody roar feel of the game…
and that 10 hit combo thing… that works for standing attacks only? cause theres a mission mode thing which you need to do a 30 hit combo… I noticed the 10 hit limit on OTG hits though…

It doesnt have too much of a kof feel… the characters I play with, I still play with them the same way, and it works… terry just links everything into burn knuckle or do a lot of low kicks into power dunk… seth is all about his crazy uppercut damage and high/low options…
mai still has her ass attack

overall theyre way different from their true kof incarnations, mostly visual cues are the only thing linking them…
mai doing RH RH RH RH RH FP is like… high kick into cartweel into another kick into her fan into flame spin thing…
ehh, its not quite the same, but it works…
its 3d so instead of doing the standard 2-3 hits into a special, they have those long chains of attacks, which end in a special, or a super cancel…

Even though it’s in 3D I’m still curious to give it a try.
Speaking of which I wish they would have released Capcom Fighting All-Stars, it probably wouldn’t have been as good as any current Capcom fighter but I really wanted to play Haggar dammit.

So im guessing from all the previous post, KOFMI gameplays isnt similiar to VF4, T5, and SC2? well that would suck then:mad:

I loved bloodyroar 1 altho broken as hell
as long as it isn’t exactly like sf ex I thought it was rather poor a pale imitation on any sf game

whats wrong with a combo limit, I hate infinites I prefer hand to hand battle and mind games makes you work for your dough

It doesn’t sound bad I definately must get a hold of it can’t be any worse than mkda

And I’d hardly expect it to be better or on par with vf4emo ,sc or tekken 4
It’s only it’s first go

i got it about 4 days ago but haven’t even opened it cuz of work and other crap. i’ll let u guys know today in detail of how it is.

What…a shitty game -__-

Combo limits, abusable sidesteps (for now) and well, not feeling like kof… bleh! Can’t believe I even bothered lol:bluu:

Yeah I played it last night for an hour or so…wasn’t impressed. I was going to give it another try today, but after reading this thread I think I’ll just forget about it.

There is some pretty scrubby stuff in this game…all of the long chain combos are super cancelable, so they’re all like the easiest hit confirms ever. Iori gets a free maiden masher off his run and grab thing…there’s a lot of stuff like that. It’s pretty funny if you don’t get up immediately, like everything hits grounded. Kyo does lvl 3 2141236+HP it lifts you up off the ground lol.

There are 30-hit combos.

He said if it ends with a multi-hitting move it still combos.

As far as I know there are no 10+ hit supers… 10 hit combos are stuck with OTG stuff, afaik.

this is the company that made crap like svc and kof2k3, you suddenly expect them to switch to 3d and make a decent game?

I saw this coming and didn’t bother buying this shit, sounds like it was a good decision

There seem to be some strange exceptions to the rule. Some moves/chain seem to count as a different number of hits than what they actually do. A generic example would be Ryo’s Zanretsuken. Doing like 5 hits, Zanretsuken (15 hits), then Ryuukoranbu (15 hits) does 35 hits. I’m not really sure why, but certain 3 hit chains only count as 2 hits also. Kinda random.

Plays like Bloody Roar? Well then I gotta get this game, I’m like one of 10 people in the US who actually likes BR type games…
