KOF 2002 UM: To Ban or not to Ban Vote Now!

Shit…just ban the unlockable characters and everything will be resolved. Seriously it isn’t that complicated, most of them are broken anyways so it’s like hitting multiple birds with one stone.

indeed. Its too early to jump to conclusions. We still got playtesting to do, and i assume japan kof communities are also doing their own thing. If only we can collaborate on this.

edit: Evo, its like shooting up a building cause u got beef with 4 people . Its a stupid, lazy solution.

But see I’m actually playing the game and see I’ve posted up stuff to support my findings…now though its still early…the people I’ve banned I feel I have good reason to support this…

(I.E. Igniz, Krizalid etc)

From what I have seen, Geese is playable. Who doesn’t have a combo that really hurts?

Most of them are broken anyway? Prove it. How is O.Rugal broken? What about Geese? And don’t say because he has a 70/90% combo with 5 stocks and has to be in the red. Because if you bring that up I can show you a couple 100% combos with Nameless and several other characters.

No its more like"this bag of chips has some deadly insects in it…should we just throw the bag away and be done with it or eat around the bugs".

DG: In the long run my suggestion is the more easiar and practical thing in the end, it will resolve conflict and bring some closure.

People who are saying banning all unlockables is stupid/lazy:

How many of you have ever actually run a tournament?

Why is SRK getting ban happy with fighting games? Did you guys lose your balls or something? Is figuring out a matchup that hard these days? Do some of you even PLAY fighting games at a high level?

For starters, they are all boss characters with extremly high priority, damage output and massive combo potential. I think the question to ask is"what isn’t broken about them". If we have a large roster that is fairly balanced, why risk the integrity of the competitive scene for only a small handfull of overpowered characters?

Oh for fuck sake! This is the Gouken and Seth thread all over again.

Play the game and then decide. If it’s not immediately obvious that a character is way overpowered then they stay in.

Okay so seriously, O. Rugal Igniz Krizalid Zero Goenitz all look like they should be banned. Clone Zero idk, he looks fine I guess. Geese looks fine. EX characters are fine of course (ex kensou robert and takuma right?).

Goenitz looks like he should be banned? How? Also yes EX characters are Kensou, Robert, Takuma, and Nightmare Geese (Hes a palette Swap of Geese)

When you play enough high level competition you have a feel for what’s acceptable and what isn’t. In my case because I’m coming from a position of playing in tournaments and fighting agaisnt high level oponnents, I already have a feel for when something is overwhealming and broken. A lot of the posters here are still fairly new and cannot tell the difference yet, so it’s understandable from there perspective but sometimes you just gotta go with the flow and accept things the way they are. Truth be told, a lot of the unlockable characters present a unfair advantage and are overwhealming to surpass. I’d rather have a competitve atmoshpere that rewards the ability of the player and not the strengths of the character.

Fair enough, but I assume this game will be available for people to play on consoles before it is in a tournament?

It doesn’t take very long to find blatantly overpowered characters.

Igniz and Krizalid get my vote for blatantly overpowered right now…

Krizalid just needs to put an S on his shirt and get a cape and he’s good to go!

Now from what I hear NM Geese has all his tools, but damage is toned down like the rest of the bosses…but from what I hear he takes the #1 spot right now as the most broken playable character in the game…

One good thing about banning all unlockables would be that it stops being a question of interpretation. Banning “broken” characters might create argument about where to draw the line.

On the other hand, allowing all characters allow you to main Igniz

I’d say follow SF4 and TVC lead and allow everyone; if particular bosses become that much more powerful than others, ban em down the road. No reason everything has to be decided the first week.

The irony is that I have two sides of people on the Igniz issue…(since I have posted a video on the first page showing that his 2001 infinite remains)

-Those that say ban him without question
-Those that say ban the infinite and cap the # of loops

That didn’t solve anything, some peeps still think Saga is alright along with seth lol.

Since it was brought up, would u allow superman in the UFC lol.
