Red is a tossup, it really is - 1/2 the time red is “Yellow” in disguise…the other 1/2 is unplayable.
Yellow is playable for the most part - combos, etc come out now.
Blue I have yet to play for myself, I heard that’s something you only get with same state/city connections (think Green Bar in SFIV) - In short from what I’ve heard Blue Bar is flawless.
I played for about 40 minutes and I feel the patch now is worse than it was before.
Thanks to this patch we know have input lag, which is something we did not have before, pre patch the game was laggy as heck but my combos came out and I could block cross ups and such.
Post patch on red and yellow connections I literally couldnt do a single combo, even simple combos just would not come out for me. I played about 7 different people and of those 7, 6 of them were completely unplayble(I believe 3 had red bars and 4 had yellow bars). One of those 7 was very good, but even before the patch I would find good connections here and there, in fact as a whole before the patch most yellow bar connections I found I considered “playable”, right now its utter trash.
I’ll give it another go before passing final judgment, but early impressions are beyond terrible. Very dissapointed that i waited 4 months for this garbage. At least I still have street fighter but I can’t help but be amazed at how these fighting game companies disregard online play as important, first this garbage and then tekken. Disgusting.
2nd go around was much better than the 1st, I played 3 different people, 2 of them one match each and one more for like 8 matches or so, all of them yellow bars and all of them silky smooth and lag free.
That makes me feel much better, I’ll play some more tommorow and see how that goes, definitely hope this last showing was more of an indicator of what the game is like post patch.
Isn’t there a posibility that people who got the patch may have been playing people who hasn’t? People who didn’t get the patch probably were already online before the patch was released, so it may be safe to take that into consideration.
Wait about a day to make your judgement. I don’t have the game yet after hearing about the shitty netcode. I wanna make sure the majority agrees with the netcode.
Well, I had the sets with Projectjustice, I noticed the bit of input lag in the beginning, but he is all the way in Texas and I don’t have the best internet ever. Anyway, it was certainly playable, and I did have fun! That’s important, I wasn’t hung up on anything, I was really pleased and wanted to play more sets but alas, having a girlfriend is a fulltime job. xD
Played the game all day today. Basically I discovered 2 things:
If you create a room with more than 2 people and 1 person enters with a red bar the entire room goes nuts, in fact I can honestly say every room I went in to with 3 or more people played worse than it did pre patch(dramatic input delay, lots of lagspikes etc)
if you create a room with exactly 2 people the game plays great, I still have yet to run into the elusive blue bar, but I played several people with both red and yellow bars today and had very good connections all throughout.
Bottom line: So far this patch is really good, but do not even bother making a room with more than 2 people. I’ll post more when I test more.
Me and another guy had yellow bars, things were cool, a red bar comes in and we refuse to start till he leaves, keep it going till all 4 of us in the room are Yellow Bar.
