Kneel Before SRK - The Man of Steel Movie Thread

part1

part2

Nigga, SupaMan can turn back time and save everyone (that isn’t a minority dying from starvation) so what is the big deal?

 Okay I can understand that superman lost his shit when his mommy was in danger and made a lapse of judgement when he tackled Zod into the town, but there was no reason for him to actually STAY in town. They were after him so he could have tried leading them away and taking the fight to one of the millions of corn fields in Kansas.

Zod was in control the entire time, just like the other two Kryptonians where in control the entire time. Did you fail to see that the 2 times Kal El tried escaping he was denied and tossed like a little bitch.

Kal El bearly survived the first fight when he managed to damage the hot chicks mask and the big dude said lets get out, and Zod was in control the entire time in the other fight. He won because he managed to stay on top just before they hit the floor after space.

To expect him to save everybody out by taking them out, and dealing with superior foes who where always in control is just dumb. And its not like humans can escape, to a safe proximity. that’s just fucking dumb when you consider that one punch sends these people flying 50 miles up.

And don’t quote those terrible movies from the 70’s. Those things are so fucking embarrassing. Nigga tossed a defensless Zod down a long shaft like it was nothing killing the dude, and then smiling about it.

Best SUPERMAN MOVIE EVER!

Ummm…the 70’s movies are no more embarrassing then most modern comic films. The film had a lot of camp and silly things about it but removing all that, it offered a lot in terms of characterization in ways that has helped defined the supes mythos for years. Man of steel isn’t leagues better then what we saw back then…everyone in man of steel had the character development of a Michael bay character and the CGI fight fest at the end doesn’t excuse the poorly forced relationship with lois or pointless side characters.

Im not saying they aren’t anymore cheesy. But even bringing those up is to justify your points is nonsense, and you know it.

and seriously dude, the movie is called Man of Steel. The title tells you that the character development is focused primarly on Kal El. I don’t know why some of you guys insist that there needs to be character development with the other characters, when the focus of the movie is to introduce superman and explain why he is the way he is. AS IF WE NEED TO KNOW HOW LOIS LANE FELL IN LOVE WITH SUPERMAN. Do you really want that? Do you? Because I wouldn’t, I want a movie about Superman, and want to know more about him than fat Morphous.

I would have preferred someone else as Lois Lane like Johansson. :coffee:

I doubt Superman was trying to escape (as in flee somewhere miles away), he was the one that put them in the middle of Smallville.

Re. Classic Superman movies - The fights are too funny, they are cheesy, but Superman giving a shit about human life isn’t. I can see we’re never gonna agree on this so I’m just gonna leave it at this. I would have liked at least a scene similar to Dark Knight where the city mourned for Harvey, fast forward a year or two with Superman leading a remembrance day ceremony with the city clearly under reconstruction, then go to the scene where he destroys the drone.

Movie gets a B from me.

The army causing the majority of the collateral damage makes sense. IRL if Government had to deal with an immediate alien threat I’d imagine the exact same thing happening, the town is going to get turned into a giant crater.

I’d like to know what government would ever OK military weapons being fired in highly populated areas to stop potential threats. Clark should have surrendered or at the very least try to be careful…it’s not in his character to be irresponsible.

Zod threatened the entire planet, this is what they would call an unprecedented situation.

Goku’s villians are not polite. He always goes out of his way to LURE them away from crowded locations.

Puleeze. They always found loopholes around that logic, one of them being the OTHER magic alien dragon on Namek.

Unlike Superman, Goku had the knowledge that there was an afterlife where the dearly departed become happy fluffy clouds or retain their full bodies (for some reason) and frolic and play in paradise.

Despite knowing that the dead literally went to a better place and having access to the magic dragon hax, Goku still went out of his way to save people when it was possible and lamented when he couldn’t.

That’s like the equivalent of insisting to build a house by yourself from scratch when there’s a whole construction crew willing to do it for you for free.
Most of us would opt for the easier option, but none of us are true heroes like Goku… not even the Man of steel.

tearful passionate salute

There was only one Superman movie released in the 1970s and no superhero movie has topped it since… though many (especially Batman Begins) have patterned themselves closely upon it.

The ones from the 1980s are pretty bad, once the producers seized creative control of the franchise.

The previous ones all had Superman in the title. So what?

The quality of Superman stories is almost always related to the strength of how the supporting characters are portrayed, particularly the strength of his longest-running romantic foil. If the 1978 film is noteworthy for portraying Superman as a grown-up who can relate to women as more than a prop or a sex object, then this one is noteworthy for dragging Superman down into the mire of token love interests that every other superhero movie has wallowed in.

The cardboard-thin portrayals of the supporting cast in this movie robbed it of a lot of the humanity that it should have had. Many people have pointed out that the movie has a strangely cold vibe, and this is a big reason for that.

shrug Our glorious Christian nation has plenty of firefighters, police officers, soldiers, doctors, and EMTs whose purpose in life is to keep us out of the kingdom of Heaven for as long as possible.

My homie at my second job said he didn’t like it because it wasn’t campy like the old movies. But when I told him that some guy on the net said that they should have had less action and make it about Superman saving the world through the power of recycling, he laughed and said that sounds like some soft ass, I-wear-a-beanie-and-hoodie in hot weather to show girls I am open to taking it in that butt, white boy type shit.

Why should anyone here care what your gay lover* thinks?

*“My homie at my second job.” Like that’s fooling anybody.

This movie is WIN. And this is coming from a guy who’s not big on Superman. I’m definitely waiting on the next movie
EDIT: Although the fuckton of collateral damage Superman did does have me scratching my head a bit, seems out of character

And I did not expect that ending, atleast not so soon in this reboot series. Gonna be interesting to see where they go with Clark’s character from there

Oooh yeah, I wonder about the whole Clark thing too. Unless everyone is this universe is a full retard, it wouldn’t take much to figure out that Clark and Supes are the same person. Hell, Superman himself confesses he’s from friggin’ Kansas for crying out loud! It just felt really tacked on.

That’s probably my major gripe about this movie. Plus it’s going to be downright laughable seeing this male model pretty boy pull off the bumbling nerd routine. Christopher Reeve did a perfect job making Superman and Clark two entirely different entities, I guess we’ll see if the latest Superman has that kind of talent, but from his performance in MOS besides looking good, his acting was fairly forgettable.

I’m pretty sure reversing the earth’s rotation would ABSOLUTELY destroy everything in Earth. Clearly Christopher Reeve’ Superman doesn’t care about humans as much.

Except that the movie shows the immediate consequences and thoroughly confirms that it did not, indeed, destroy everything on Earth. This one fell a little short on that.
