Thats my impression. I wasnt buying into the hype, plus I hate EA, but I am loyal to Mass Effect/Bioware so I d/l’d this demo for the Mass Effect 3 items, but when I played I was very suprised, there’s elements from 3 games I like all in one. I dont think it will be as epic as Skyrim, but it could be as good as or better than DA2 (not DAO), and better than Fable in combat, which I use as the standard for WRPG swordplay, (love using lv1 time to teleport with florishes, ect in Fable 2).
Plus character creation, despite how limited (the chick looks like they copy/pasta female Hawke body from DA2) I was able to make a character I thought was good. Combat was fun as hell, even with the little I had unlocked. As a former fighting game player, I defintely like some of the things you can juggle with, and the end of the demo vid, where the guy is juggling with arrows like a UMVC3 Hawkeye OTG combo is just amazing. I cant wait to have everything unlocked, my combos are going to be more retarded than a cancel happy Dante with an OTG assist.
I’m buying this, unexpectantly. I think this is the first time I was won over by a pre-release demo for a game I didnt care about initially.
I still hate EA. Gotta give them bitches money for this and Mass Effect 3 within a month? Whats next? A Need for Speed that doesn’t suck?
Demo first 30 minutes of handholding sucked, then game opened up some. I have it pre-ordered from Newegg on PS3 for $45. Looking forward to delving into the full game.
I loved ME1 and ME2 was ok.
But if ME3 is as linear as ME2, then fuck it. (Ya it’s linear. Collect team members -> Go beat the game)
Amalur should be a million times better, but ME3 will sell more due to name recognition.
EA is just the publisher. I won’t hold that against them. Hopefully I’ll get it this week if Newegg ships it in a timely manner.
I’ll give my opinion for what it’s worth after a several hours of gameplay. I’m not expecting that 9/10 that Colin Moriarty of IGN gave, but that bodes well for me since I like Action/RPGs. We all know #'d scores are subjective. I liked Lord Of The Rings:War in the North a lot, and it had plenty of problems, but I still enjoyed the game.
Amalur looks to be more polished, but worse art design.
I wish I could preload this game that way I could start playing it at midnight. No, matter, I’ll start the download at midnight if im allowed and just play it in the morning for a bit till the kids wake up. Hopefully they dont wake up super early.
I enjoyed the demo, them putting a 45 min timer on it was some bullshit tho. Wanna see what people have to say once they have a good session with it.
I’m not gna get into the Skyrim vs. Koa debate that some people are having but I did like the combat and the multiweapon combos u can pull off. One to keep an eye on, definitely! Eager to see people’s impressions for sure.
