King on anchor with Julia on point. Both heavy hitters to start off with, I use Julia to build the meter and tag in King for major damage. Plus with King’s knee combo into SC, I’m able to fully utilize the ground bounce on Julia’s f+H on airborne opponents. I’m really liking this combination so far.
Imo you don’t need to worry about using meter for Juri’s EX moves. They are pretty worthless outside of the rare EX pinwheel on wakeup. Just save the meter for tag cancels
I was toying around with Juri/King as well just because I was curious as to to see how easy it was to bring in King off of her Alpha Counter. Still, your 522 damage for three bars is actually quite shabby for the meter. Juri has some stupidly strong non meter using combos that for a bar you can bring King in and probably deal 500 without any more meter. King alone can do 510 with a single bar. Juri is just an all around great character, so I don’t think you could go wrong with this team. King however just seems to have a low compatibility when it comes to partner combos unless he’s the one being brought in.
That in itself is a pretty big reason to never have him on point. King is a meter whore, gets zoned moderately easy compared to some (although definitely not as bad as others) and is too specialized to be ready for everything at the start. The optimal partner should be someone that at least lets him get 3x knees + fierce off during a cancel combo. Being able to get the jump in off as well is even better.
It’s took me awhile but…Poison/King~ I’ll Quote myself(now this is with using Poison in mind but still a decent read.)
This is the team I have been running. For Juri into King tag cancels, just end everything with a Hk fuhajin, same damage as a Mk pinwheel and it is the pefect height for knees. For King into Juri, yea it’s alot harder. I am new to king, but it seems his knees are the only way to go for tag cancels. So that means you land a jump in, or a wall bounce off a shoulder charge into knees, or corner them and land anything. Like I said I am new to King, so anything I am missing as far as tag cancels I would like to know. That said his raw launcher is enough to give Juri her Cr Hp into Jc Hp shenanigans. Thats what is so great about these two. They do so much damage in tag cancels and raw tags.
I still don’t like King’s options for tagging in someone else–using meter–for a few reasons. The majority of the characters that I enjoy playing simply do not add enough damage to make the meter useage worthwhile. The knees do not work on a crouching opponent without first using the EX Konvict (using a c. Fierce first to make them stand). So while you might get some use out of tags off of standing opponents, I don’t really rely on that since crouching is how most people block. So if you’re already using meter to make them stand, you may as well just finish off the combo with King alone (the damage is stellar anyway) since you more than likely will not really be able to eek out enough from a tag to make the meter worthwhile.
The only reason I could ever see using meter to tag someone in off of King is if he’s really needing to heal and you want to make absolutely sure that your partner will be safe. Pretty much all of your meter should be used for King; at least that’s how I feel about this character anyway since he’s only so so without it, and pretty amazing with it. I’m also not sure there’s a better partner for King right now than Ken either. The more I play this team, the more it feels like all of the bases are covered. I don’t really believe Juri/King complement each other as much (Ken’s ability to give King an entire jump in combo so easily is just ridiculous, especially as a punish), but as a whole they are probably about as strong, if not superior simply because of how good Juri is. I think she might be a bit stronger than Ken, but I feel Ken/King just work better as a team.
Anyone try Cammy/King yet? I’m interested in it in a big way, and right now Steve is a great partner but he’s just not working out for me.
I’m not gonna be using any of those combos.
but I will take that song and that King custom color set.
Anyone try Balrog/King with Rog on point? I could see headbutt tag cancels leading into knees pretty easily, was just wondering if anyone had any experience with using those two together?
I’m more curious to know if anyone plays Rog seriously in sfxt… I’ve faced a grand total of 3 online in the games lifespan so far

Well I’m one of those rog mainers haha. Gotten up to 3500bp using a mish mash of hwoarang and rolento teamed with him. But enough talk about the rogster. I will try king out with him tonight and see how it goes!

I’ve been using this team since the beginning it’s pretty good in my opinion. Good switch cancel damage off of cannon spike/knees. The only problems I’m having right now is trying to get King out safely when being pressured. People who run is also challenging to fight… Fucking Dhalsim grahh!!!
Haha, spent the last three days grinding the team out on PSN. Really do like it alot, but it’s true, Cammy does so much leg work for some really nice damage. King just has more bad match-ups in general but my initial problem was playing him like he was Steve. I find against Sim that I just need to look out for teleports and then Cammy can just snatch those floaty jumps all day. The only thing that took me by surprise was how safe his slide is in this game.
I’m using Ken/King any suggestions ? I put ken first cause I’m better with him and king does goods thing for me when kens health is getting low
I run Ken/King, the name of the game is getting a grounded Tatsu off. If you have meter, that’s your choice of cancels.
Really though, in finding a partner for King, just make sure they have something easily comboable into that cancels into a Knee Juggle and that said partner has solid footsies/ability to ignore footsies while building meter.
How do you guys feel about Nina/King, Heihachi/King, Ibuki/King?
Nina/King will be a great pair i’m pretty sure u can get close to 490 with a tag cancel combo.
But ALOT of rush down may be a little problem,
