Surprisingly it doesn’t look like shit like every MMO out there, it looks like a decent brawler so far. But being an MMO it could very well go downhill from here.
Should send the link over to Igntion. all the Crazy Mai fanboys will claim the MMO to be the defacto KOF sequel.
Anyway, it has the potental to be fun in an old school kind of way. Using 3 characters for an arcade style beat em up? Sounds better than the first KOF Online where it was just one character and was pretty poorly executed as far as direction and stuff.
I don’t know about the character swapping deal. It would draw more attention if it was more focused on one character per player instead of each player owning more than 1 character, otherwise there is less reason to play this online with other players if they can use the same characters too.
This game desperately needs a character creation tool (unless at least everyone from 94-XII
are choosable.)
Is 2 players gonna be the party limit? It’s still early (there isn’t even any information on Wiki), but I think a party of at least 3 or 4 would be great with the beat’em up style they are going for.
It feels like there will be a fee attached, so it should at least deliver as much as Phantasy Star Universe does in content, customization, missions, etc.
But who knows if this will even come to the states.
There’s already some huge online games coming this and next year. Champions Online,
DC Online, Final Fantasy XIV Online, possibly Dragonball Online (NTL been quiet.),
A.P.B.,
etc. etc.
I’m very impressed with how it looks and seems to play, yet it will have to have a lot
more to it to really make it worth paying a fee for. I also wonder what the story will
involve and how it all comes together. The towns look really nice too. Will there be shops?
There would probably be a leveling system to give a feeling of growth and progression.
But that character swapping system still bothers me, it just feels like we just own a bunch of Pokemon we can swap in and out, instead of an avatar.
