sup everyone i guess i be the first to say. i thought this game was goin to suck but i’m wrong. this game is pretty nice and it’s fast? not like ex more like a fast and more cleaner Fatal Fury Wild Ambition mix with a little kof issh:cool: but i got i link with the game being played http://www.videogamerx.net/bbs/view.php?id=vx01&no=6895 p.s. www.snk-capcom.com has some vids also
It’s pretty funny (read: cheap) how some moves can OTG right into the wall. It does look like a cleaner version of FF: WA without the lame controls. When is it supposed to be released here?
the game is way faster then ffw and much cleaner. it’s comein out 09/14/2004 i can’t wait to play it
I’m taking a wait and see approach, but I so want this to rock. It just might, but the chain comboes I heard about in it on a preview worry me, the OTG crap doesn’t bother me too much- SNK should have wakeup options like Tekken I think in there. Won’t be much of a crossup game from wakeup in that’s the case.
I just got a bad feeling something’s wrong with this game- and it’s going to be just more Playmore wackiness.
(again, I hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it, and at least they aren’t being lazy this time- maybe cause they know this is their best shot at commercial success in the US)
gettin this game in 2 days (July 29th).
i just seen a match with ryo and that kim like bitch shit son the way ryo move’s is nice and fast not sloppy like ffw or ex. he looks like a powerhouse in this game.
yeah this game looks awesome. i haven’t been able to play that many king of fighters games so it would be cool to play it in 3d.
here’s some stuff that’s in the game
1st box
- walk forward - f
- walk backwards - b
- dash - f, f
- backdash - b, b
- jump - ub, u, or uf
- small jump - tap ub / u / or uf
- mid jump - tap db / d / df, then tap ub / uf -OR- tap uf during dash
- large jump - tap db / d / df, then ub / uf -OR- uf during dash
- crouch - db / d / df
- guard (aka blocking) - b (high), db (low) when atacked
2nd box
- weak punch - square
- weak kick - cross
- strong punch - triangle
- strong kick - circle
- taunt - L1
3rd box
- strong punch throw - f/b + triangle (throws to the right)
- strong kick throw - f/b + circle (throws to the left)
- mid-air throw - in air, any direction except u + triangle / circle
- throw … (?) - R2
- mid-air throw … (?) - R2 in air
4th box
- forward roll - f + R1
- backward roll - b + R1
- sidestep (background) - R1
- sidestep (foreground) - d + R1
- circle motion (background) - hold(?) R1
- circle motion (foreground) - hold(?) d + R1
5th box
- quick rise - R1 when knocked down
- throw escape - f/b + triangle or square
- guard cancel attack - R2 when guarding (costs 1 stock)
- guard cancel roll (forward) - f + R1 when guarding (costs 1 stock)
- guard cancel roll (backward) - b + R1 when guarding (costs 1 stock)
6th box
- stylish art - do a specific command at a specific timing within the duration of a certain attack (I’m guessing this is character specific too)
7th box
- special moves - character specific
- super moves - character specific
looks pretty standard KOF except the side rolls.
leads to another gameplay question- will the sidestepping be like
VF Evo or SC? will there be anti-SS moves that are effective?
Hopefully the side movement is just positioning, I don’t think a full 360 degree game 2d style is viable, and I really don’t want this game to be ass, the industry needs Praymore to get something right, even if it’s my dumb luck.
i wonder who’s the last boss in this game.
Well after watching the Vid I can say the SNK might have finally beat Capcom at something. It looks like they took their 2D game and made it work in 3D. I am sorry but the SF:EX series just sucked bad. The games felt unresponsive and jumping in them was just a pin. It looks like they did a great job here. Although I will wait until I get my hands on it before I pass final judgment.
you might at least quote where you got that from. Is it that hard?
sorry about that rook i was in a rush. thanks for the info
since this game was released… and i got it…
ok, this game isnt that bad, its real crazy thogu
its not too bad implementing kof 2d fighting in the 3d game, but more characters have strings that allow a lot of crazy links into specials/supers
theres 3 levels of supers, though some characters like seth dont have a level 3… or at least shown…
theres a wierd ass thing I did with terry which lost me all of my super and he just sat around looking dizzy as the screen went black… dunno wth that is…
theres a lot of leniency on combos off of anywhere, but off the wall reduces damage, and ground combos seem to be limited themselves… like after the round ends, the body sits there, and after 10 hits itll explode and pop upwards again…
guard meter doesnt seem to recharge soon… hmm…
theres a lot of different colors to be unlocked (with the same 2 models, but quite diverse). as well as “rigging model” which adds stuff… rock gets a cowboy hat and spurs, terry gets a wolf costume (OMG FURRY) But Im really liking the schemes… most of the different colors change the suit completely… so its pretty nice to unlock them… most all of the unlockables gained through beating it with the character and going through mission mode (40 missions)
the worst part about the game is the voices, and the gay ass anouncer with a big red nose and green suit…
still pretty fun though
Kof_Maximum_Impact_JPN_PS2DVD-Caravan
1 hour left to go =((
hope it’s good
its not that bad… it feels like SF EX…
mix between a button masher and the real game…
fun but not extremely satisfying… though I do like the extra unlockables the game has. and you can have some elaborate combos against the walls, though some combos wont work against hte walls because the recovery time for your attack is nullified when they hit the wall…
what’s so button mash friendly about the game? KOF’s never been known as a masher’s paradise.
i really like clark in this game
Here’s an Athena juggle I made up (most of the other characters seem to be stuck with those retarded canned combos):
f+p,f+p,P -> f,f+k -> f,f+k xx special
Maybe it’s possible to connect a third f,f+k if you’re really fast I don’t know. It’s hard to test juggles in the first place because practice mode doesn’t even have a “enemy recovery” setting.
Hmm nobody has any cool combos?
Here’s another Athena one I made up:
close db+K -> OTG f,f,f+k -> forward low jump K xx crystal DM/ phoenix DM (K version)
-the f,f,f+K is not a typo you want to delay the OTG and be as close as possible to the grounded opponent
-crystal DM can hit a lot or a little for 80-100 total combo damage. I seem to get the ‘little’ much more often.
-the phoenix DM hits in variable positions. You either hit them while they’re lying on the ground or while their back is turned. Also variably, you might be able to follow up the phoenix DM with a DP or cyrstal DM for 75-85 total damage.
