This is getting annoying. I understand people are upset about the character choices, but how are Mai, K, and Yamazaki essential?!? They’re good characters. They may be your favorites, but essential!?! Mai didn’t even appear in the original Fatal Fury game. Yamazaki didn’t appear to later in the Fatal Fury series either. K didn’t come along to KOF 99.
The purpose of King of Fighters XII was to get back to basics. The basics of the original game was a clash of SNK titles. Ikari Warriors, Psycho Soldier, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting…etc. Mai, K, Yamazaki were not in any of the original titles.
When I think Fatal Fury, I think Andy, Terry, and Joe. Kim and Raiden are cool characters with styles that should be mixed into KOF XII. Mai does not come to mind right away. Yamazaki is very far down the list. We don’t need 10 Fatal Fury characters. This isn’t Fatal Fury. It’s King of Fighters.
Some complaints about the game are valid, but the fact that Mai isn’t in it doesn’t harm the game at all. In fact if I were to add characters, Yuri and King would be way ahead of Mai.

Im a fan of mais, she my fav. snk fighter, sure, but im not a kof fanboy. IM not blinded by the games lack of shit! There sooo many fanboys on this thread that would still like the game if all the characters visual appearances were nothing but wireframes with there names overtop of there models. These would be the comment that the game would get…oh its not about the look its about the fighting, all of that visual stuff doesnt matter its all about the game. The only reason why i even play kof/fatal fury as long as i did was because i had a character who was always included in every title to enjoy playing with. I mean all honesty the game would have it faults still, but certain characters which make kof kof should have always been included. And mai regardless if u feel so or not makes kof, everyone and anyone who plays kof knows who she is…everyone might not know whos oswald is or heidern or heavy d but every one everyone knows mai(sorry long rant)
im not a fanboy of kof12 just mai, there a difference. IF many other characters that make kof werent included like kyo and iori and terry much much more people would be bitching as much as i am.People already complain about iori new moves, but in all honesty hes fine like that i know someone who fucks me up with him, although he doesnt ever win he does do some great combos.
Well without Mai there to shake her tail for you I guess you’d have to notice other things…

see thats where u were wrong, the orginal fatal fury included only three characters, one character being andy who was excluded from many titles that many other appreared in, since fatal fury 2 onward and there were about 6 fatal fury’s mai was included where yuri and king werent. Mai was in 95 and since was included in every kof until 12, while yes yuri was includeded in all as well, king was left out of a few kof related titles such as kof 2006. Now maybe k was pushing it but yamazaki, wasnt he was never excluded in any kof game, and when they crossed vs. capcom he wasnt excluded either.
Now on to this iwari warrior and pyscho soilder shit, like how many of those games were made??? And there were other characters that were included in kof12 like goro, elizabeth, mature that werent included past one or two kof only games that made it. They also have characters like robert and shen woo who werent also in a few kof related games but they made it before them. But above everything and everything mai is more essential then all of them because shes never ever not been included outside those side titles u mentioned that yuri wasnt in, and king was in art of fighting. When it somes down to when you think of presentation of characters, and this is for anybody not just people who dont like mai…Terry, joe, mai, kyo, iori are the top 5. Just think snk vs capcom where u cant include all the kof characters so u have to bring the ones that bring the best representation of the kof games u cant bring elizabeth and mature and expect to represent the game well when those characters are underused and arent important. Can you atleast agree that mai equals the equalivant of chun-lis streetfighter( chun-li was always included as well) if u feel as though there another female that holds that spot please feel free to explain that.

um yea man, because i when your a fanboy of something you dont care how bad it is you will still defend it till u die, i mean i only a fan of a single character outside of defending her i can actually see the game for what it is. Im not blinded and i write based on everything not just the good stuff.
um what fans burning down building how weird, and u can like a game alot but not be a fanboy, like i really really enjoy blazblue like alot…but if the game ws bad or lack things i would say but it doesnt. it comes through on every single aspect. Some people may say its unbalanced. In all honesty the characters that are a little bit harder to defeat take wayyyyyyyyyy more skill then everyone else in the game. Those characters being arakune and nu, u can know combos what does what and everything…but u can never ever get good unless you skillfully play tough opponents over and over. I feel like noels just wanna learn these damaging as combos and expect it to be enough.
That’s kind of sad. You guys are missing out on a lot of good games if you’re ignoring them because sites like ign don’t hype them.

So true, you cant trust most of these sites anymore with their review scores. Look what happened at Jeff Gratemans over at GS. He was fired for being a honest reviewer. These sites get influenced by publishers for good reviews. :tdown:
i look at all game reviews sites, and i also make sure that if have previous knowledge on the game to try it out for myself. Just to make sure im not missing out on anything. From what my friend(jay528) he’s say ign normally doens a great job. But despite whatever reputation reviewers may have now, they all felt the same way about the game( and they also mentioned about mai not being in the game which i liked they did it shows that yes mai makes kof kof, just chun-li mkaes streetfighter streetfighter)
Yea, cause the Chun Li street fighter movie had a good turnout. Also, what makes SF3 NG and 2nd Impact. Go buy a saigado doujin and glue that to your tv for your Mai fix.
Just wanted to mention that you actually CAN combo into normal throws BUT you need them to be in a counterhit state I believe. For example…
counterhit with shen qcf+A when they are in corner, walk up a bit and grab and it will combo. I also am pretty sure you can combo into throws during CC combos (since that counts as counterhits for everything).
btw I actually like the throw system in this game. throws do pretty decent damage and I like that they are unbreakable and low priority (or no priority you might say lol).
come on man, i didnt feel as though i need to make a point of that, but atlast i guess i do, sf3ng is exactly that a new generation of fighters. So it was understandable that she wasnt in the game, i think only ryu and ken were the only two old gen characters to be included in that version. If chun-li was never added they had all the right but they did eventually add her anyway. However, kof12 is not a new generation of fighters like garou mark of the wolves, so in this installment it makes no sense not to include mai. kof 12 in a sense is snk sfiv, if chun-li was not included in streetfighter iv that woul make no sense, and since mai is not included in kof 12 it equally makes no sense.
And i do not need pictures of mai, honestly i really use mai as my main in all kof fatal fury maxuim impact, capcom vs titles now i have an incomplete team of dou lou and athena( who i never ever liked). If people were missing iori kyo terry there would be a fuckin outbreak. And kyo iori arent even in all the kof titles there in most of them but not all. Mai however was in every single one.In this case it makes no sense not to include Chun because of the storyline. Mai has NO purpose whatsoever even if KOFXII had a storyline.
Which titles are you talking about? As far as I know Kyo was in all the KOFs and Iori was missing from 94 because he was first introduced in 95.
Mai and Chun-Li are both classic characters, and fun to play. Haters are just haters.
And speaking of the Chun-Li movie, Mai is actually in the upcoming similarly hilarious looking King of Fighters movie.
