King Fighters XII at DEVASTATION

I thought I would post this up here in the KoF section… we will have KoFXII at DEVASTATION this year for anyone who wants to get a shot at the console version before it is released

From the match video’s I seen it looks awesome. My biggest disappointment was in the caliber of players. Looked like one to many SF players trying to figure out how to play KOF. Extensive turtling players were destroyed, poor chains, and bad execution. Although there were a few players who really did quite well.

It looked mostly like they where trying to play a Capcom versus Fighting video-game.
Who is the person that commentated: “random uppercut” a lot?

I saw the devastation matches and first thought it was going to be an exhibition with people who knew the game so I was looking forward to see some nice stuff (fortunately I got to see a nice mature in action, and one guy was ocv people with ralf). But what I thought was so funny, one of the players when customizing the controls was making almost all the buttons hard. I just had a flashback to some people who do this in street fighter .

Haha. I was also confused by that, even if he was using a controller all your four face buttons are right there.

That Mature was quite nice, I’d like to see more of that player.

Who won the KOF tourney Devastation 2009? Any vids?

They threw this game under a bus. Terrible idea trying to have the exhibition and Third Strike Finals at the same time. Not only that but randomly picking people who never touched the game for the live stream. It was a big opportunity to get more support for the game, but instead it gave more people a reason to hate on it.

Hey guys… sorry about the feelings on this… The dev units we were sent were busted and we had to fix them ourselves we lost some days to run stuff because of that.

That said, we wanted to give the game some stream time for the exhibition tournament. Along with that, we had so many people that wanted to play in the tournament that it was hard to choose who could play so we opted for a random spread.

Sorry if you felt that did the game wrong. We will definately hold a KoF XII tournament next year and give it all the show it deserves.

I definately appreciate you actually coming and reply to us. I hope you understand our situation as as this is the first chance KOF can break out in a really big way, so we really want to try and make the game look as good as possible so that a lot of the people who didn’t give the game a chance and just blindly turn their head from it can at least give it a shot and possibly like it.

Just the fact that you actually had it at all said a lot though, and I appreciate that.

Don’t get me wrong Rob, what you guys did at devastation was just plain awesome. I love how you featured the game during down time, some exposure is always better then none, even if the players were not high caliber. I was suprised at the amount of haters in the chat, I know KOF vs. SF has always had it’s player segregation, but I think that despite loyal KOF fans and regular fighting gamers, this game won’t ever mean much to SFIV fans.

Look at game series like GG, Tekken, and SC. Only years after gathering fans and holding local tournaments and so forth are they really starting to draw crowds. Even games like Smash have quite a following that can no longer be considered underground.

I say regardless of the player caliber, what you guys did for fighting game fans was spectacular. I was really happy to see KOF there to begin with. It’s a shame there were so few good players to drive up the hype.

Which kinda brings me to my next question…

How man pro’s circled around that cab when they weren’t playing SF and Tekken?

No problem guys… I really try and support all the communities that I can.

I would not let any of the haters get to you - the two games will probably always be at odds, much in the way GG is… (Tekken is a bad example since they are sooo different). Having KoF on a next-gen system will allow a new level of accessibility and, because of that, new blood and players - see what it did for SFIV?

We could not run an “official” tourney for KoF this year with it being a dev unit and some other legal mumbo jumbo but we will have that as a tourney title from here out so make sure you guys come out an support - as long as people are attending and playing we will be happy to keep it on the roster.

I am fairly certain every serious player spent a few games on KoF… both the KoF units and the Tekken ones had players on them the entire time they were running.

Anyways, play the game and make sure that you guys run tourneys, etc. at any event you can (if the event is not already holding it) to get it the exposure and be willing to sit and help the noobs learn it… if it is too intimidating they will just roll to another game instead.

By the by… I was just sitting here playing the dev unit (I did not get to play it once the whole weekend)… I thought you might get a kick out of that. Boy I suck at the game too

it was funny we had so many ppl signed up for the kof tourney and we had to select the bracket randomly and dropped more than half the players signed up, KOF xii was a great start since everyone is new on it. I am sure we will have a good size community when xii go on the main stream.

Again, great thanks to the dev team, glad to see the two units there.

Hey Robb thanks for having this game and letting us make the best of it (Raiging Storm Staff) and what happened on Friday was way out of your control but you and your staff were great at handeling the situation. I am definitely looking forward to next year.

Results:

1st: Me (Mature, Random, Random)
2nd: Fubarduck (beni, goro, raiden)
3rd: Etep (Joe, raiden, goro)

Was it your mature we were watching? Because that was some pretty sweet stuff going on. Any other characters are you gonna try to learn besides her?

Yeah man, your Mature really rocked. A buddy of mine and were watching a few vids, and your Mature came on. I really like your CC juggles and corner pressure. Way to show what this game is capable of.

Oh wow I got a lot of catching up to do in this thread…I’m still uploading matches myself guys to youtube but yeah after I finish I’ll chime in on everything…

But with that said once again all the credit in the world goes to Jedirobb for allowing this thing to happen in the 1st place!

Apologies to devastation crew, for what I wrote. It was actually the Djwheat Streaming coverage that gave the game a bad impression. Props to Ignition/Snkp for promoting, and Devastation for hosting!

everyone hates justin wong, but freak, hes really good and took home #1 for the majority of the games. hes no joke.

what?!?! I think you are in the wrong forum dude. :wtf:

LOL. The truth…

Now why would I hate Justin Wong when I am his SNK alter ego??? :wtf:

lol, well, i was just watching the end of the devastation stream vids and he took home everything pretty much. but yeah…
