Probably a good question to ask John Bautista or Filthie Rich on the DH forums then. He would be hella overpowered being that fast with too many projectile invincible moves.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s just his overhead, which is decently fast.
I figure since they took the time out to let everyone know that the core characters are done, everyone else will be variants off those. I kinda feel like that means either these 4 will be top tier or they will suck…
If we get another character that can grapple (tusk or riptor perhaps?) but lack the the instinct mode that pulls Thunder together… Its gonna be hard from a “competitive stand point” to justify picking tusk or riptor over Thunder.
Same for those rush down type and more range like types…
Over all I guess instinct’s are really whats gonna determine who’s top tier.
Instincts will definitely play a big roll because it basically gives your character new tools or extensions to their damage/chip after getting hit or doing enough breakers. Like a more creative Sam Sho Pow/K groove meter with a bit of XF in with the cancelling anything into it also.
The most important stuff will just most likely be who has best normals, control of spacing and hardest to break combos. It’s just with all of the stuff like bluffs/counter breakers and baiting bluffs with no breakers into attacks, the mind games will play heavily and allow a lot of stuff work despite tiers.
It’s actually very interesting because it seems like because of breakers and the fact combos are very similar in general; combos won’t be the thing that makes people good.
I think thats a really great thing as it keeps the game from having characters that are not viable, sure there are always going to be top tiers but I feel like the worst character is going to stand a pretty good chance regardless. Also it seems that it will favour smart players rather than overpowered characters in the end.
That’s mainly why he was revealed next, to complete the Triangle.
Sabrewulf - Rushdown
Glacius - Zoner
Thunder - Grappler
Jago - Balanced
It would make sense to start over from either Rushdown or Balanced to show the next character, which is why so many of us think it will be our favorite criminal next.
Oh Jebus, Chief Thunder’s Instinct Mode has be the scariest one so far.
So true, what is the point in picking a Top Tier if every other player can read your Combo Strings, Breakers, Counter Breakers and etc like a book?
Yeah it reminds me of mid to higher level 3S where someone can pick a top tier, but if they just throw the same pokes in the same place, they’re just going to get parry os’d down. Its only at the highest level that players know enough about how to mix up their poking game and use anti parry strings and techniques that you can’t just use pure wit to beat a top tier.
Double Helix just released some official character art for the “Core Four” characters.

Well, I know what’s gonna be my new Wallpaper.
Yes
So good the original composers commented on the video. Damn.
The guy with the sanwa buttons on his guitar was pretty cool.
Ken Lobb tweeted some cool info about the Gamescom build!
Looks like they found a workaround to the 50% Linker breaking. Tweaked auto speed hopefully means faster which is a win in my book.
tightening breaker windows is a much better answer than some of the other things being thrown around like initial lockout.
However, i was thinking. Initial lockout, or just regular lockout on Counter Hits could be interesting.
So how would fierce linkers work? Going by the mechanics of the game so far wouldn’t that eliminate opener > auto/manual > Ender combos? Or will they make specific fierce specials able to be used as linkers?
I like that fierce linkers are on the table though. Going to be cool to see how they’ve set this up.
Glacius satellite doe? That sounds pretty sick. I wonder if he will be able to use normals and specials while holding it. Sounds like a good way to help him combat all the methods people can use to get around projectiles.
Whoa are they about to blow my mind AGAIN?! How will enders be executed now? Will there be 3 different ender strengths now?!?!

Ken Lobb quickly mentioned in one of his tweets that the game will also be at PAX Prime in Seattle. Friday - Monday the last week of August (29-Sept 2nd). Meaning we could see the next teased character in action as early as 2 weeks from now.
I kinda figured this would happen with Glacius. His projectile can now double as a keepaway tool and Anti-Air tactic, giving him more versatility. My question is can he shadow-cancel out of a held ice ball, since it could set up some crazy juggles.
I noticed a bit demand for a female character reveal. So I had some thoughts on Orchid.
In case anyone is interested… Also has some very good matches in. Max covering the Sabrewulf theme and an Easter egg as well as some HD matches.
