Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Ryu actually the mascot of Capcom fighters in general on top of being the protagonist. Poor Liu Kang will never be marketable as long as Sub-Zero and Scorpion are around.

I’m going to be disappointed if they don’t include Orchid’s KI1 Ultra where she finishes it with backflips.

I did not like her KI2 Ultra, so they better not bring that back.

I also hope Eyedol returns as a boss and playable character. I want his character model to be huge!

I’ve seen very little evidence that breakers are unbalanced. So I am also curious what they do. I hope they don’t screw something up to combat a perception about breakers.

Dudley was my main in 3s and yes i was godlike with him lol but if you played a sick Urien on my account it was prolly 2nasty of TEK he was a beast with Urien. Was Super troll your XBL name back then?

I hope they find a way to give her back the move where she turns into a tiger from KI, it was one of the coolest and dumbest moves in the game.

I’ve never actually played a Killer Instinct game in my life, but I’d be lying if I said this game is getting me super hyped up. I am curious however about the game’s typical special move or command normal inputs. This is a series from the 1990s after all, so I’m willing to bet that like most other games back then, Rare tried to do their own thing with unique special move inputs and all that.

Does this game’s move inputs borrow a standard set by any existing franchise or is it its entirely own thing?

The problem with letting people play throughout the development of a game is that people start to get knee jerk reactions to things in the game without seeing how it plays out over months to a year. Same problem happened with the beta release for Marvel.

I don’t even think it’s a matter of balance, I think it’s mostly the stream monsters that don’t like to see combos getting broken all over the place. Which is obviously partly due to the lower level play of the combo triangle that people are still at.

The older games had some weird commands for stuff like holding a button down, then doing the motion. There was also the df,d,db+button stuff. That’s all gone now and even for charge characters like Sabrewulf, the charge time is very small or non existent. Everything is pretty much QC motions or short time charges.

IMO they can update Orchid’s look while remaining faithful. I mean I’d guess all they would have to do is stick with a green motif and have tig ol bitties right?

(however looking at what they did to Jago, and Thunder will be the other que - I’m expecting a darker, more stylized, less slutty - variant of her KI2 outfit…more details, something covering her buttcheeks, but closer to BDSM in nature - maybe leather belts/zippers etc.)

Back then I went by neymus but eventually changed it to rik aguilera. My main was ryu and I was mostly known for being great at parties in all the lag lol.

well they took out sabrewulf’s 360 scratch animation and changed jago’s windkick so i bet they will change orchid’s backflip. seriously though, jago’s windkick looks like shit now, wth? how do you make an awesome reinvention of glacius but then decide to let that windkick animation through?

I played Gouki back in 3S, but im not a very big Capcom player, that includes SF. 3S was the only one i slightly enjoyed

Damn man it’s been so long since we hooked up over a game that is making a effort to embody the 3s spirit.

Honestly the hype right now is just at a all time high…like picking off after a decade long chess match that ever ended ha. My Xbox tag is Datpunk but I might change it when KI drops to reflect my mood at that time.

Fo sho Onyx. I still try to keep my Ibuki somewhere around the dangerous level. LOL. I can never forget how to play that game. I could not play it for 3 years straight, pick it up again and play it like it was yesterday. Definitely remember Rik also.

I play SF4 mainly these days and while I still know how to play 3s…fuck I’m terrible now lol. If you guys are free anytime shoot me a invite and let’s get some classic 3s if possible…and I agree onyx 3s is the best sf.

Speaking of 3s, how crazy is it that KI2 had a parry feature too. I wonder how the new KI would work with it.

Technically it does with the Counter Breakers, but yeah, it would be interesting to see, but it would kind of slow down the gameplay IMO.

Yeah you don’t need too many defensive mechanics in a game with a meter free combo breaker.

Is there any footage of KI tournaments by the way. I can’t seem to find any actual competitive matches of old school KI.
