Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Frame advantage on hit from linkers is greatly reduced.

As a result, light linkers only have enough for a light manual, mediums a medium, and heavy a heavy manual.

There are some excptions to this rule for better and worse.

In addition, they fixed a bug wich didn’t give you the correct manual break window. The practical effect of which is that you have 4 more frames to break manuals.

Unrelated note. They only fixed glacius 4 hit ex cancel. The other characters with rapid ex moves can still do this.

hmm that screws with jago alot. Not sure how I feel about that…

It affects everyone though (except spinal because his manuals were ass).

To play devils advocate, the change has some distinct upsides:

  1. Makes break no longer pure guess-work on manuals.

  2. Improves risk reward as now you don’t get the same result from all linker types.

  3. Makes jagos instinct much better as the bonus frame opens up manual which no other character would have.

man, with this hitstop, if you have good reflexes and reads, you’ll be fucking invincible.
was this really necessary to make light manuals this hard? It’s not like you have to guess that much from a light linker…total nonsense.

I don’t mind not having to completely guess to break manuals. On a side note TG combo is a beast, i think he has the best normal’s in the game. Strong and mobile, really feel like i thought he would, 3S Dudley.

You only get Combo early if you preorder the Ultra edition, not the $20 edition, right?

the $20 & $40 versions get you combo

Oh snap really? Okay I planned on the $20 (or should I say $18 version, thanks for 10% off LOL) version so maybe I’ll snag it tonight.

For some reason I thought it was only the Ultra one.

EDIT:

I don’t even see the Combo edition on XBL so I think it’s just the Ultra edition.

And I’m only talking about getting him early. I know he’s included at launch next month with Maya if you get the $20 version.

you get him early if u buy the Ultra Edition, season 2 combo breaker Oct 15th

Is he playable online atm? I didn’t try TJ outside of training/survival

Also, I can’t remember the move names, but handful of his specials look awkwardly slow during their hit animations(not startup, like while hitting) ¯(º_o)/¯

Ah okay yeah I thought I heard it just being Ultra but wasn’t 100% sure.

And I thought some of his specials looked a tad awkward in the vids I’ve seen of him. In general I think IG is having issues making animations look smooth in this iteration. Both Maya and Combo don’t look nearly as smooth as far as animations go as the other cast members do, from the videos I’ve seen. They don’t look bad or anything, but they definitely do not look as good as DH did with the first season IMO.

Looks like they just tried to put a bit more streetfighter into KI which im not mad at. I was always on the fence about manuals. I don’t think they were a problem, as something in fighters are just educated “guesses” Interested to see how this will turn out

I think the issue was the risk reward. As it stood it kind made all the linkers the same. And muted a portion of the combo system.

The different types of linkers are much more important now, and the reward for the bigger ones greater (or rather, the reward for the smaller ones smaller).

The risk/reward on manuals in season 1 was busted. They were super easy to to pull of and hard as hell to break. Now the risk/reward is more balanced.

no, it’s not.
this system only limits creativity and forces you to do what they want you to. Now I’m forced to do resets and doubles to mix stuff up, since it’s either 50/50 with linkers.
the fact that they nerfed the shit out of my character doesnt help either. when I play, If I want to do something, Most of the time the response is :
I cant do that anymore. I feel limited. I did not say it was fair before, I agree with some of the changes, but They could have done something in between but they decided to say fuck it and do this shit.

Why are your linkers 50/50’s and why are you doing resets to mixup breakers?

No offense but that post didn’t make a lot of sense.

More impressions:

-Thanks to the buff to EX enders Sadira’s EX Recluse ender now does a fuck ton of damage. I know this is true of other characters as well, but given that she has stellar mixup and that she never used to do lots of damage, I feel this favors her alot.
-Same with Thunder’s EX CotE ender, good god the damage.
-Spinal’s cMK change is better than I though. It’s actually a really solid poke now, which Spinal desperately needed.
-Bone-Canceling normals is kinda so-so. One one hand it’s pretty fast and can catch people off guard, but on the other hand, its loses to lots of stuff.
-Spinal’s Skull gain on cHP is really useful for AA combos and the meter gain is much more powerful than before due to the meter nerf.
-Orchids Grenade is less good than I thought at first, but still very good.
-TJ Combo… um… how do you AA with this guy. His ground game seems very good, but I’m kinda questioning is mixup, and defense at the moment. Also, he seems to have very limited AA.

I’m hoping KI players in NYC show up to Next Level tomorrow. If nobody wants a KI scene here, then I will pull a “CD JR” and be an online warrior except during majors. XD Guess who’s winning EVO this year?

You probably have to use his AA’s pre-emptively rather than on reaction, it’s probably designed this way as a means to balance them out since Combo gets higher rewards out of his anti-airs than the rest of the cast thanks to recapture.

Was gonna ask this in the Glacius section but it’s dead there looks like. I haven’t kept up with this game due to other endeavors but did Glacius get some changes? I don’t remember hail bouncing or him having a command puddle. I’ll admit I didn’t fully play the game when I first got it so I very well could have overlooked the puddle but I still don’t recall the ice bouncing

Those are the big ones.

The other big buff to glacius is that the first attack of any combo now does 200% damage (up from 100%). This means all his stray hits from limbs hurt twice as much.
