Still can’t believe how little hype is surrounding Season 2. IG seems to be failing hard on this front. DH had us hyped for months prior to release.
Well besides T.J. there isn’t much to show… I hope Maya does get polished up properly for launch. But perhaps that’s the reason why they didn’t show her yet (in her alpha/beta form).
T.J. got a lot of flack when they showed him so early.
We’ll be getting hit by news probably very soon. I don’t expect the Maya trailer to come any later than Sept 23. I don’t expect the 3rd character trailer to come after Oct 15th…
We also have mode announcements (maybe), UI reveal, etc.
KI news should start becoming more constant in a week and lasting straight through to April if I were to guess.
I’m of a mixed opinion on the Sadira Nerfs.
On one hand, I think pretty much all the nerfs are reasonable and justified.
On the other hand, all together it feels like Sadira has been hit overly hard.
I’m kinda hoping that the EX wall cling and those new target combos will offer enough utility to make up for that. Also, I feel that Sadira is unique enough within KI’s ecosystem that she could still be quite strong once the game settles.
I’m guessing IG figures they can hold off on the news since once October 15th hits they’ll be giving us news very regularly. If what they supposedly say about getting a character a month is true.
I mean, truly, I don’t care what happens with Sadira’s Instinct Mode, but when the developers start dissecting things that wasn’t even part of the noteworthy issues with the character originally, then that’s where I put both my hands up and say “the fuck, yo?”.
IGS basically fucked this character over, while Sabrewulf seemingly gotten better, despite the small nerfs. It’s downright stupid.
I’m just terrible at this game, so I don’t feel qualified to way in here . . . but, that’s the way some of the character changes seemed to me as well, specifically the Sabrewulf changes. Granted the nerf to backdash makes sense, but from my perspective that wasn’t really an issue (I totally understand why you wouldn’t want him to be able to run away like he can), but his damn near unreactable cross-up dash coupled with his lows was something I thought would be nerfed:
- “While the forward Dash is the same duration as before, Sabrewulf gets behind his opponent quicker now so that properly timed punish attempts are less likely to come out facing the wrong way.”
If I’m reading this correctly the forward dash/cross-up got better for Sabrewulf. I’ll have to wait and see, and deal with it one way or the other.
Either way, I’m actually overall sort of surprised that they made a bunch of changes after only a year (11 months really), I was thinking they’d let the game mature a bit longer. Especially since I still suck terribly and now see another $40 purchase looming on the horizon in order to stay with the current KI game. Granted, it’s not like things are going to be so different that I’m going to be playing a completely different game, but that makes another $40 seem all the more irritating. But I do like the game and want to support it, I just take umbrage with how quickly it feels they decided to roll it all out.
You don’t have to spend 40. You get the characters as long as you just spend 20 and wait for a top off to come out later on. 40 just gives you cosmetics and KI2. Unless you have to play TJ Combo a month early it’s not necessary to spend it. The only real big perk for paying the 40 is they’re supposing we’ll get early access to all DLC characters this time by paying for the 40 dollar pack. We’ll see if that is a thing and how much quicker we get the characters.
Keits supposedly said that Wulf’s dash is a bit easier to reaction jab out or block, but I’m sure it’ll still mix people up, especially on their wake up. Double Helix ensured that they didn’t want to change much with the game and I’m sure if they were still working with the game they wouldn’t have done these drastic changes like IG did. They wanted this to be a game where the players evolved it more than they did.
I think now that Iron Galaxy has taken over they felt they had to show off that they can develop a fighting game and make it their own. Which makes sense from a marketing/business standpoint, but of course that’s going to piss off a lot of the competitive players. I’m open to change and the changes will make Fulgore’s bad matchups less shitty so I’m for it.
Yeah, that makes sense. I was forgetting that there’s a new group doing all this Season 2 stuff. What do you mean by, “spend 20 and wait for atop off to come out later on.”?
Basically means that like season 1, if you do buy the 20 dollar pack theyll eventually put out an offer for you to upgrade to the 40 dollar pack for 20 bucks. So that gives you time to buy into the ultra pack later than shelling out 40 now and not even knowing half of the content you will be getting. I originally only bought the 20 dollar version of season 1 since I soent so much money on the XB1 that I literally didn’t have room for that 40 dollar purchase at the time. Then they let you upgrade to it later (far later than I was hoping, but the offer eventually came).

Well at least we got a leg
From what I was told, on the forum NeoGaf, one of the developers sarcastically quiped that we would get one blurry leg and like it (in response to people asking when we would see Maya).
So yeah, its a pretty good troll.
Also, this does probably mean we will see more soon.
That’s hilarious. I think it’s pretty funny when the developers and industry insiders poke fun at the internet community/forum tropes. A couple of days ago, after it was revealed that Goro would be a special DLC character in Mortal Kombat X, Ed Boon was asked on his Twitter if there was a character trailer forthcoming . . . to which he respnded with a photo of a vehicle equipment trailer with a picture of Goro emblazoned on the side.
any bets or rumors about the thing, that made location testers happy?
They changed manuals back to the old rules? LOL
New Maya screens.
Aside from some animations still looking a bit weird, Maya definitely looks much closer to being finished than Combo did when he was first shown off.
The new unwrapped mummy character at the end of the trailer looks pretty cool, wonder what he’ll play like.
Edit: Some low quality gameplay footage here, new character select screen is also shown.
Maya still seems to have Orchid’s ultra animation as a placeholder.
That UI change looks very slick and professional-like. Though I’m gonna miss Season 1 UI a little… ;n;
Maya looks great and holy shit her stage is magnificent! This might actually be my main stage to go to.
And it’s great to finally see a newcomer for KI (and it’s a zoner, at that).
So like yeah, happy-happy-joy-joy~
good stuff!! def feeling the new UI changes
I hate to be this guy but its not very clear to me. I went to gamestop lastnight and pre ordered the Season 2 Combo breaker Edition, only because they didn’t have the Ultra Edition available to pre order. All I really want is the early access to TJ combo on the 23rd and the ULtra Edition so I get KI2 classic as well, I don’t care if I actually have the disc or not. When and where can I buy or preorder the Ultra Edition so can play TJ combo this Tuesday and get the other Ultra edition benefits when they are available???
