You’re prolly right on the characters, it a logical business step.
I’m not sure how I feel about the whole arieal recapture combo stuff… I’ll have to see more before I can judge.
Besides, now is the time to go back and play Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 DLC XD
No. That doesn’t make any sense. Just bring all the characters back as soon as possible. I want to see the entire OG cast in the game (bosses excluded) before I see more new faces.
No, that would be a stupid business decision. Imagine if they did all the OGs first and saved Sadira and friends for a later season. I guarantee the sales of said season would fucking suck because people jack off to nostalgia and don’t give a shit about anything else, and you proved that. If there were 3 seasons of all OGs and a 4th season of just newcomers it wouldn’t surprise me if half this thread just outright passed on buying said 4th Season unless they were required to.
Putting new faces blended in with the OGs will keep sales fine for as long as possible.
The game is already doing well. It doesn’t need any more “good business decisions” because it’s done its part and already has a massive install base. People who are interested in the game competitively will get all the seasons of the game no matter what characters they contain. And since they sell the characters individually, what’s stopping the “nostalgia jack off” people from just buying the OG characters they want and saying fuck it to the rest of them? Absolutely nothing. So there is no point whatsoever in holding the original cast back any longer.
They’re going to see diminishing returns on the future seasons no matter what happens. Not everyone who downloaded the free version of the game or even everyone who bought it is going to get the second season. The seasons won’t outsell the core game unless they put it all in a complete package which won’t happen for a long time. They should just spare us the needless fan outrage and give us what we want. I don’t care about how smart/dumb their business decisions are, and you shouldn’t either. We’re consumers, not shareholders. All we should care about is getting our favorites as fast as possible.
No. Keep raging, they don’t owe you a damn thing. As long as you keep buying their shit, they can do whatever the fuck they want. It would take a universal boycott to make them say “You know what? New characters are a bad idea, old characters or nothing”.
If people really stop buying shit or decide to drop the game because Maya didn’t get playable soon enough, it’s a bit pathetic more than anything. Not to mention the two most requested OGs are the first two characters of Season 2. You really think Riptor, Maya and Tusk will be more fulfilling to adding new characters and depth to KI?
I’d rather see new characters before Maya and Riptor anyway. Yeah, I know Riptor is a KI1 OG, but he’s still just a big ass raptor that may or may not still be able to spit fireballs. I want to see a new design for like a vampire or a ninja or a space soldier or something.
I don’t even have the game, or an Xbox One yet, because I’m waiting for my favorites to return. And you need to quit apologizing for them because you’re in the same position as me. This mentality that “they don’t owe you a thing and in fact you should bend over and blow them for even making the game in the first place” is complete bullshit. You never get anything by staying quiet. Consumers get absolutely nothing from the developers constantly doing “smart business decisions”, they just get screwed over and have to wait even longer. These people are not EA, what occurs in this game isn’t exclusively defined by people in suits saying “you need to do it this way”. This game is by fans, for fans; they surely understand that we don’t want to be kept waiting. EA does things this way and for that reason they are one of the most universally hated companies in the west, and the sole reason they get away with it is because they’re swimming in cash and can afford to screw people over because of their brand power. Iron Galaxy would get nothing from copying those business decisions other than dissatisfied customers.
I don’t see what they have to worry about by just releasing all the originals in S2. If they deliver quality then everyone will buy Season 3 regardless of it not having any originals. That you “know for a fact” that people won’t buy S3 if it doesn’t have any originals in it is in fact speculative and not a “known fact” at all, no matter how much you think otherwise, it’s just an assumption you pulled out of your ass.
Likely Cinder and Riptor will be the final veterans for Season 2. Bringing all 6 of the returning characters within the same Season is not a good thing for business, and will definitely make Season 3 sales rather poor.
We should have already known this when Season 1 was completed.
If they were really smart they should operate on the assumption that there’s not going to be a Season 3 at all, because if there’s any risk at all that there won’t be one, that means holding characters back for future seasons brings with it the possibility that they won’t return EVER.
I’m not in the same position as you because I have no intention of ever getting an Xbox One or KI even if it came with a free blowjob from Gianna Michaels.
And I never said you should be grateful they made the game, don’t put words in my mouth. I just said they don’t owe you anything and they don’t. They only owe you as far as it takes to get an efficient amount of sales over time.
As for EA’s practices, EA is one of the most hated developers because of their bad tendency to fuck up their own franchises and hide absolutely everything behind a paywall. We don’t have to worry about the first when ti comes to KI (at least at the moment) and the second will technically happen with KI regardless of release date.
And again, chances are Riptor is also going to be in S2. So all the relevant OGs will be released in S2 anyway because there are barely any left. A majority were covered in S1. Personally, I really would’ve held back an OG or two for Season 3, but Riptor sure as hell isn’t selling a season and neither is Maya or Tusk so my argument in the end is moot.
Season 3 isn’t even guaranteed and people are talking about it like it’s a sure thing. It’s not, which is why it’s all the more imperative to get all of the remaining cast in now. If Season 2 ends up being the last season then it should go out on a high note with all the original characters put in and a few new ones. 16 characters isn’t a bad number of characters for a fighter to go out on, but it needs to have the right characters.
No. I’m saying that Season 3 is not guaranteed to happen. If they “save characters” for Season 3 and it never happens, that means we’ll never get those characters. Period.
Putting them all in Season 2 is the only way to guarantee that the original cast gets filled out.
