Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Using jago for now until spinal drops heh.

Sure how soon, just got off to take a small snack break when will you be on?

Bout another 5 minutes. I’ll send you an XBL message.

LMAO shit Jin you raped me like a little bitch with dat 10-1 ouch.

Well this isn’t my game I’m just too ingrained with ST, looks like its back to SF4 for me. Hope this game does continue to get bigger though and hopefully respected amongst the larger FGC. I might be quitting the game but I still do want it to succeed cause we need some new blood ya know…well rebooted new blood in this case lol.

Anyways it was cool to converse with this scene for the short time that I did and Jin good luck with all future tournaments, adios bro.

Edit: man I’m out like 700$ now cause of this game lol…most expensive wasted investment evar. I just hope SF5 comes soon cause now my brand new box will be collecting dust lol.

I think you’re just mind fucking yourself but yeah. I’m sure you’ll want to check it back out once some of the other characters release.

I just hope SF5 plays more like old school SF than IV did. Balance changes that actually make sense and don’t occur every 2 months would be nice also.

Given SF, as a series.

My guess is SF5 will play like sf5.

Nice interview of the DH team done by the Evil Geniuses.

They even address their decisions with how the combo system works, as well as counter/combo breakers (since this seems to be a discussion in the hype thread).

“The exact cadence hasn’t been determined yet, but we certainly plan to let things marinate and mature and let people come up with tech that could potentially counter things in the game that are considered overpowered. The one thing that’s a bit dangerous about capturing so much live data from the service is that there is a wide disparity of player skill out there, so we plan to prioritize experts in the field”

Really really good stuff here.

Thanks for the link

My problem is that I’m playing this game like I would a ST game or more accurately SF4. I usually know my potential in a game based off my performance against good players and in SF4,3s and ST I matched and beat good players almost instantaneously. Even in SFXT I didn’t lose this badly so I’m taking it as a indication that I got no talent in this game. The combo system just isn’t for me and its a shame too cause I think if this game had a traditional combo system it would be amazing and even better then SF4…unfortunately it just doesn’t play like ST at all and its the reason I can no longer take it seriously.

Can’t unlearn in my old age ha.

Trust me I know exactly what you are talking about as far as “playing it like SF”. When I played it at Evo, Glacius was the only character I did not like because he felt different and not like his traditional character. And I was playing Jago and Sabrewulf like I’d play SF and I got owned because of that.

Then on the X1 tour I played it again, and still was trying to play it like SF and I was getting owned for the most part.

It wasn’t until I really could sit down with it and play it at home after it came out that I started to try and play it differently. And it wasn’t until a week or two after I had it and I gave Glacius a try that I really got the “playing like SF” out of my system. And I think it’s because Glacius doesn’t play like any SF character I’ve ever played. And initially it took me quite a while to get used to it as well. It took me a good 2 weeks to get his special moves down. I mean his fireball is QCB. Every character I’ve ever played in fighters (not just SF) the fireball has always been QCF (or BF charge), so that alone took me some time to get used to. And on top of that, I’ve never played a character where special moves do different things and go different distances based on L,M, or H. I’ve only played chars where it would just make for a lighter/stronger version of a move. But with Glacius, it is a little different in that aspect with his hail, puddle punch, and the unblockable.

Now that I feel much more comfortable with him though I’m starting to not play it like SF anymore. The one habit that I still have though is the option select teching from SF, and sometimes me mashing it causes me to get locked out immediately in a combo starting because I had been opened up but out of habit, I was mashing it during the first hit of the auto-double and I’m locked out.

This sounds a lot like me…like for crying out loud I even tried doing a FADC on block just cause my mind is used to it after 4 years of SF4. I think unlearning ST could potentially be something I can get my head around since I did do it with T5DR but I guess what throws me off about KI is that it functionally fees like a ST game so it confuses my mind lol.

A 10-1 blowup is terrible though so obviously id have to do A LOT to even get decent in this game. As it stands my skill is so low rank in KI that I’d need to invest the effort of 2 full time jobs to get remotely "challenging"to a good player so I guess ill just need to weigh in my options and see if its worth the effort or if I should just get back to SF4.

I mean you spent 700 dollars I would try to attempt to make it worth it. TBH I pretty much let you win that one game so you could effectively call it 11-0. Lol. I’ve been playing fighting games and placing at locals and majors for them for a while. I didn’t really have too much trouble adjusting and can multi task pretty well between different fighting games once I learn the mechanics. Its why I like this game a lot because every character feels like a mix of a SF and an anime/marvel charactr with their toolsets.

With that said I don’t like being competitive in mor than a couple games at a time because otherwise I just start being mediocre at all of them instead of adept at a couple. Right now I’m set on KI being my main game for years and probably Marvel 3 as back up since people will always play that. Like Skullgirls a lot but its upgrading way too sloowly and getting good at it would just take too much time from what else I’m playing.

I’ve been at locals for awhile too and did participate at Canada cup a lot before I was unfortunately banned from the events. In the short time I had exposure to top players though I was able to level up a lot and get fairly good in SF4 at least comparatively to the rest of the top Canadian players (beating guys like air and mike ross). Even in my short stint with ST i was able to make diago sweat and panic during our tournament match so i guess you can say i came into KI expecting to maintain the same high level. However what I realize is that with those games the adaptation period wasnt that significant because they are all ST games at their core.

KI is a different beast and I can’t play it like I do SF4 so all the skills and habits I learned from past FGs are useless in this game. I guess I could try adapting and transferring my skill to this game but I just don’t know how long it would take cause its literally like going from tennis to soccer in terms of how different both games are. Ill give it a few more days then but I want another rematch and no sandbagging me this time, if you want we can go FT5 then and make it short so that you don’t get bored. If I don’t improve then ill know I just don’t got what it takes to be good at this game.

Any news on Spinal and Fulgore? Hopefully the next trailer shows both of them instead of just one with the other teased since we already say Fulgore in the final trailer. I’d like them both to be in the next trailer with another character hinted (really want it to be A KI2 character but it’ll most likely be Cinder)

The trailer always shows 2 characters. One gets a trailer and the other is teased at the end. They’re going to do it like any fighting game would and just show you Spinal and Fulgore. They’re going to drag out season 2 since that won’t start til probably after Evo.

It sounds like you your expectations are unreasonable. You shouldn’t expect to jump into a completely new game mechanics you aren’t used to 5 weeks after its released and expect be dominating 6 days later. DJ is a good player so of course he’s gonna own you up. If you’re as good of a player as you say you are then in a couple of weeks you when you learn how the game flows the wins should be 50/50… Again, this is’nt like any other fighter but if you’re giving pros a run for their money in other fighters then you should be able to do the same in this game once you put in the time.

If you really wanna learn how not to play this game like SF use Glacius exclusively for a few days, that’ll fix you.

So you were a Football star who became a Rugby player who expected to get the same results with no effort? smh.

I learned this game over the winter before getting an xbone and picking up KI and I really really really can’t emphasize enough just how good marvel is for your execution and your defense. The execution might be char specific to an extent but If you can block in marvel, You can block in just about any fighting game. its also good for learning how to control your salt levels, lol.

Yeah the fault was with me expecting to come into this game thinking I’d be as good as I was in SF4. Maybe just the fact that jago plays like ryu and that the game has similar mechanics to ST made me over confident lol. Well I plan to main spinal anyways jago was just a place holder to get me familiar with the game. Ill fight Jin a few more times though to see if I can unlearn my bad habits, it will be a process but I might as well put this 700$ to good use.

DJ is really good.

I don’t just mean that as a throwaway. I’ve played him in other games, and he is just a very strong player overall.

I know I played him in 3s years ago and I remember his ibuki was very solid.

Some guys can transition well between games but I could never steer outside capcom games that well…GG,BB and MK9 all come to mind as other failed attempts. It annoyed the fuck outta me in MK9 especially cause I was getting rolled over by dudes who I could troll with Dan in sf4 yet couldn’t touch in MK9.
