Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

So far I’m having more fun with that little black box than the other, bigger black box.

Also, earthbound.

Ill have to see some of J.Wong’s Orchid.

Aren’t all 3 systems this gen black boxes? Black = sexy and desirable.

The wii U is really long actually. Most are white, but the big ones are black (insert joke here).

Also, orchid does huge amounts of unbreakable or barely breakable damage on most really common situations. While other characters like sadira can also do this, with orchid it’s stupid easy and can be done in tons of situations. I want to see more if her played.

Can you go over this unbreakable damage? Because the only one’s I’ve come across as truly unbreakable and good damage involve instinct and shadow meter.

I should have said barely breakable.

It’s nothing fancy but just doing opener>Linker/Double/Manual>EX uppercut>throw>Juggle does huge amounts of damage for such a short combo with one break point.

Do we know when this month the “spinal patch” (lol thats what I’ve deemed it) is set to release?

Still learning the engine and how the chars contrast each other.
Gonna wait to jump online till after they make those ranked adjustments and I have a chance to study spinal.

Got a chance on New Years to finally watch max’s videos and most of the NEC top 8.

I hope i’m not the only person who realizes that aside from being an exclusive on a “cool to hate” console, This game has ALOT of fucking potential…

Yeah, the box is irrelevant.

The game is surprisingly solid.

Most of the issues I have are very niggly:
-you can luck out of combos
-I wish single hits were just a bit more damaging

… That’s about it really.

Anyone else come across an issue where you do a counter breaker online, the announcer yells counter breaker and you hear the sounds for it, but it didn’t do anything? Like the game rolled back and made that counter breaker not happen.

That’s rollback netcode.

Your connection wasn’t great, so the rollback was more dramatic.

I’ve had rollbacks happen in shitty connections, but so far haven’t run into your problem in a solid connection. The visual/sound rollbacks in this game are very few to none for me as long as the connection is strong. Which is pretty nice for rollback based netcode.

I’ve never had that, but I’ve definitely had times where I am doing a combo and I hear the announcer say “Lockout” and I see the exclamation point, only to see a fraction of a second later “C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!” and my combo is broken.

Audio cues are always the most obvious rollback effects because the audio cue plays in it’s entirety and is the rolled back to a different cue. This draws a ton of attention to what was likely and extremely small rollback.

On does anyone else have problems with the Xbox d-pad?

I swear it keeps making me dash instead of doing my SRKs and all around it really jams my inputs. I prefer the 360 D-pad but I suppose this new one is playable at least, already maxed out at contender heh.

I’ve had that happen once or twice. My connections were amazing the first 2 weeks after launch where every game felt like it was a local match. But as more people started playing, I ran into shittier connections. I had 1 full on desync bug game so far. Mostly though, it’s a lot of the same stuff I saw in 3SO where characters will teleport a bit or the game will skip animations so you can’t visually punish or see when you first got hit. That’s rollback though, just have to deal with it. Wish I could decline matches with bad connections ~crosses fingers for patch~

I have a lot of trouble with DP motions on the x1 pad, but I can’t really play pad anyways.

I will say after spending a lot of time with the wii u and ps4 over Christmas, the x1 pad is at least in par with the others…

But that’s more a statement of how mediocre the dpad on the whole are.

The one thing I couldn’t get used to was the stiff clicking of the d-pad buttons. But overall the d-pad is alright after I got used to it. I used to be a pad warrior for SF4 so it was easy to adjust to the X1 d-pad.

You could by a CronusMax and use any stick instead of spending $200 for the TE2. I already bought the TE2 before I got the CronusMax, but I wanted to test it out and it has almost no lag on your inputs.

That’s good to hear. I’ve been recommending the Cronus to my friends, several of which use the madcatz fight pad.

Madcatz, please make a fight pad for x1.

Unfortunately I can’t play stick for shit and I’m to old to change now lol. Maybe I should though cause I keep dropping my combos and botching reversal attempts.

I’m a bit more used to it now but I find you REALLY need to press’s down hard on the pad during those QCF motions. Is there any word on special fight pads coming soon or converters for the old 360 pad?

ChronusMax will let you use and 360, ps3, gear.

Yeah, the CronusMax will let you use almost anything. 360 wired or wireless, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Keyboard or mouse, Wii controller, etc.
