Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Truthfully I couldn’t sense any, but that was only about 10 minutes of combos in training mode. I had no problem pulling off any combos (auto-doubles, manuals, double ultras, etc), but I would be misleading you if I said that I did any sort of scientific testing…

It was definitely “good enough” - it will get some thorough testing this weekend with both DS4 and sticks (TE and Cthulhu-based). I’ll let you guys know if I notice any issues.

I hear a lot about Orchid being represented as a strong character, but what does that mean specifically?

Okay, my random Orchid notes from the lab last night:

-Her damage output is bonkers, and because of her Linker speed, her lockout damage is high (opposite of Thunder)
-She has more advantage after linkers, this opens up alot more manuals and reset opportunities than other characters, making her harder to break, and giving her better options to straight explode someone.
-her jHK is really crazy. It has a big hitbox, but before it comes out, it shrinks up really small. It can really crew with AtA and AA timings.
-EX Upercat is really, really, really good. It lets her get large amounts of damage in situation where other characters could not.
-Ich is a really good poke, it might even be the fastest best hitboxingest move at its range
-Charged 3rd Rekka is okay. You can still OS DP to avoid it, but its solid.
-cHK avoids lots of stuff.
-UpperCut and EX uppercut are the best punishers in the game. Stupid fast an tons of range. punishes a shit ton of “safe” stuff.

If you didn’t already figure it out, you can only do it with the 3rd hit of any of her ichi ni san moves. That specific special move has the ability to double linker. Everything else works as normal.

Brought one to my local FGC along with my TE2 and they really could not tell the difference after hours of playing with it. However, the CronusMax did not work with either a PS360 or Cthulhu (I can’t remember which it was). It would error out when we tried a stick with one of those PCBs.

It’s great for casuals and all, but later on it might be banned from tournaments because you can make macros and turbos and remapped inputs without anyone knowing.

Everyone has been saying she is weak. I don’t think they noticed that she has every trick in the book except command grab and instant overhead. Although, I don’t think she needs any buffs, if they were to give her something, I’d ask for ability to dash cancel the charge on HP rekka.

Have tried the CronusMax with DS3/DS4 and TE1 for a few hours tonight. I can’t sense any issues with either pad or stick. Seems lag-free, though KI is rather forgiving in combos I guess. Very happy with the product. I’ll give my Cthulhu stick a run tomorrow to see if I can confirm what Ar3s said.

Doing manuals and blocking stuff consistently would be a better test for the lag.

ok so finally got to try this game at Friends house. Their really a lot of getting use to but the game overall was an ok experience. I was surprise how manageable glacius was despite him being very technical. Also Orchid is looking to have a lot of potential when she has instinct. I may be wrong on this but i think i was able to use fire cat to protect my whiffed counter breaker, and shadow counters as well as even punishing shadow counter attempts.

I definitely have no issues including manuals in my combos. Blocking is never an issue, even with crazy Saberwulf/Sadira antics online etc.
Long story short, the adapters seem more than adequate, which is great considering that they’re basically the only solution available right now

Glacius is somewhat technical. He’ll probably get a bit more technical as people figure out more set ups or possible mix ups with the hail. He’s probably the hardest character to initially get into, but to get him to get started putting hit boxes on the screen it’s pretty intuitive once you get used to it. I still think his terrible movement is the most difficult thing to get used to. Having no dash is a mind fuck for a couple days till you get used to it. Everything else is just learning when to use. Don’t think he’ll end up having Guilty Gear or SFIV/MVC3 Viper levels of execution. Especially since you can land combos from far range and can only do the easy execution auto doubles from that range (you can also do ice lance manuals, but those are predictable and scale quickly).

Yeah, Orchid is built around the instinct. She has stuff that seems rather unsafe, but once you get instinct it all becomes safe and then some. You can even use it to make your dragon punches safe. You can go really HAM once you get into it and it can stuff shadow counters like you said. She has some pretty nasty unblockables with her ichi ni san overhead in instinct, but those most likely will be getting patched out (along with everyone else’s).

Yeah as long as you’re comfortable with the inputs that makes it worth the purchase. It’s just if you plan to go to tournaments it sounds like you’ll be out of luck with them looking to ban the product.

I hope somehow fixing rage quitting is in that patch. I hadn’t played ranked really much until last night, and I couldn’t believe how many rage quitters I encountered. Then I was thinking about how easy the crappy Xbox1 OS makes it to rage quit - you press the guide button then just load another game, and you are out of the current game. If they don’t fix it I think ranked mode is going to be pretty much worthless.

It was very frustrating watching me get hit with 110 hits on an ultra combo, then the next match having the person quit as I was about to beat them.

There’s no way you can fix rage quitting, people are gonna do whatever they can to disconnect if they really want to. Just have to accept it as a part of online gaming. All that can really be done is handing out harsher punishments to frequent quitters like ragequitter hell idea that Capcom lied about for Marvel; or just instantly striking a loss on their record, which I think is already being done on this game but I don’t know. The skull and cross bones icon that was put next to frequent quitters in Marvel is a pretty good idea though. Whenever I saw that I just left the lobby.

KLobb hinted at a possible rage quitter hell in the works. At least from what he said on Twitter. Basically, rage quitting is the number one complaint on the forums right now (especially since there is no lobbies to take a break from it) so expect something at least decent in the patch for rage quitters.

Past that, they’re supposed to be fixing Sadira’s unbreakable instinct combos, the high/low instinct unblockables and the KI store stuff. I hope they also fix the abysmal load times for survival mode and sometimes any of the modes.

Personally I just play ranked for the competition, not worried about the numbers. Always fun suddenly running into F.Champ, Tom Brady or J.Wong in ranked.

Yeah I imagine that must be pretty fun to run into those guys on a regular basis. If anything this is the best time to get practice in against them before people start picking up Xbones.

Yeah played some more high levels later today. Played Mike Infinite in a FT10 Glacius vs. Sadira, fought Rebelo a couple times in ranked, beat CDjr in a Glacius mirror with double counter breaker (LOL) and whooped on Valle one time in ranked (he’s still learning the game obviously).

@Onyx, again great set. I barely won the first 2/3 and then you just took off with pressure and combo break reads after a while. I’ll have to start learning that more aggressive Glacius stuff. I prefer to play really reserved with him unless I’m at a huge deficit. I think my biggest problem was I kept counter breaking you too late because you would keep going for a breaker then instant I hit you with an opener. I guess I just gotta counter at the opener if I’m expecting that. Sometimes you would lock yourself out and I lose a punish I would have gotten if I kept hitting buttons. LOL.

You’re definitely a lot better at reading the long ranged auto doubles than I am. I still kinda guess or only look for the light ones. You were reading my hard auto double, linker, light autu combo pretty well too longer into the set. I put myself into too much of a pattern with that double. Time to start learning manuals.

Ya man gg’s. Most of my breakers are just best guess when its right after and opener so mostly just luck on that part but you break first string lights every time i tried. I kept testing to see if i could slip one by but i never could, and at the time i didn’t think to counter break them. The glacius mirror are strange because you can play him so many different ways, hard to graps someone else style when you’re so into your own - but we play him pretty much the same. GG’s, we gotta do that again sometime soon.

Aside from character balancing or bug fixes, I’d like to see 2 things added to the game:

  1. The ability to go to your opponent’s profile after a match in ranked. For either messaging, friend requests, or reporting.
  2. In Ranked, a confirmation screen that has a connection indicator, the player’s name, and a ready up button.

For what its worth, M$ indicated they will bring back the “recent players list”…

Eventually…
