Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

I’m pretty sure they’ll ship the original 9

I think it will be more than that, at least I hope. Didn’t SFxT only reveal a few characters up until fairly close to launch?

It just seems to me that they are behind schedule.( i could be wrong though).

Actually itll be 10 if they just release the originals plus Shadow Jago. If they choose to add KI2 characters, the total comes to 13.

Then yoou have the original characters they said they would introduce, so depending on how many they make its 13+

With the whole round/episode thing being a reality I wouldn’t expect more than 6 + Shadow. They better have a lot of newly designed characters lined up if they want more than 2 rounds to look enticing. Giving you almost all of the cast in round one would be a hype killer for round two unless they threw in like 3 or 4 new characters per round.

I’m excited to hear the pricing plans this month when they also reveal Thunder. Then we will understand exactly what the seasons and rounds mean, and hopefully exactly what or how many characters we get with each season/round.

Either they’re going to blitz us with characters or we’re not getting many. Either way, I expect less than 15 and I’m fine with that.

12-16 is pretty normal.

I mean how many did even sf4 have at launch? Like 14?

25 I think.

25 then 10 more strayed across and etc etc.

Arcade Vanilla was 17 and Console Vanilla was 25.

This a digital download game so thy have more leeway to release a small cast as long as the price is low. Part of the reason disc based games jam pack so many characters is due to how much shit they have to go through to patch it and how you must pay a set 60ish dollars for the product usually.

Hopefully if they’re really trying to follow in the footsteps ov MOBA games that they can patch and add to the game regularly without issue. It would look bad on Microsoft’s part if they struggle to add to and patch their own flagship title.

I also think Fighting games are alot cheaper to develop than other genres. So adding characters is financially easier.

I don’t know, I remember reading somewhere that adding a new character to Skullgirls was about $100,000 and for SF it was like 1 million. If that is true then I’m sure Guile is probably the fan favorite amongst Capcom’s budgeting committee.

Could make sense. But probably cheaper than other games like COD.

But it wouldn’t surprise me, SSF4 would have had the money easily to put 10 characters and so on in. Maybe that’s dwindled, but heck I’m sure KI will be able to do that.

Not really, because you have to factor in a lot of things along with them. They could have their own stages, projectile attacks, Super Attacks, Dialogue and even Story Arc in some cases. It’s not like way back when you could just toss in any character and have no one question their involvement in the game (COUGHRUBYHEARTCOUGHAMINGOCOUGH).

A FG can turn a profit on far fewer copies than an other AAA game… So I’m fairly confident in my asertion.

I could dig through some financials… but its not worth it.

Just throwing this out there for reference from the Double Helix forums. Basically a synopsis of stuff that was said during the Evo panel. Highlighted the things I was really intrigued by. Looks like they’ll be making sure this game updates like a MOBA where it’s just updated regularly. Seeing Microsoft and Sony are big on advertising their cloud technology and being really up on the online infrastructure, we’ll see how it plays out.

Showing frame data in the moves list is always something I always wished for in a fighting game, and looks like we’ll finally get it. No more having to have a computer or guide just to look at frame data.

Things I got from the video:
-An explanation of the counter combo breaker system/what it is and how it works (they call them “bluffs” in the video)
-The way the announcers voice works (Will say “combo” after your combo if you cash out all the damage built up with a finisher, otherwise just says “master”, etc with no “combo” added to it.
-Ken Lobb himself feels like this is the KI he was trying to make back when he did KI 1
-If you can keep up with the lingo, the entire combat system is explained pretty well at about 30 minutes into it including linkers, manuals, frames, potential damage, KV meter (plays huge part in how long your combos can be), JUGGLE SYSTEM, difference between fierce and medium auto-doubles, hidden enders,
-They all check out this forum on a regular basis and read all the feedback/posts
-Updates and balancing will be done on the fly, wont have to wait for updates to be released they will just be downloaded automatically as soon as changes are made.
-Every characters different enders will do different things (extra damage, launcher, wall splay, refill meter, etc). You can do the ender that will best fit your needs in the moment.
- It has a “Super Deep” practice mode. They think most training modes in games “suck” and feel they have made a really nice training system. You will be able to watch tutorial videos as well using the xbox one snap feature while playing the game.
- They will be tweaking the game extensively after launch. - They are smart enough to know when to listen to the community, and when not to.
- They Hint at possible online tournaments

  • They mention having a grappling character
  • In depth explanation of Glacius’s gameplay mechanics
    - Every combo breaker is a hard knockdown
    - Quote from Ken Lobb “No Fucking way is this a free to play game.” Their goal giving Jago for free is trying to get as many people into the fighting game community as they can and are confident you will buy the game after playing it, and you do have the option just to buy the few characters you might want to play instead of the whole package.
**- New features, characters, updates, etc will constantly be added. They are treating this as a long term investment. In this regard you will NOT have to buy newer, more updated version of the game. (unlike street figher… )
-They will show frame data in the moves lists.
-They are looking into being able to do different enders depending on player performance as mentioned in this very forum
-Every show they go to they will have a new playable character and tease another one as well and dont have a set number of characters yet, they want to grow the roster as long as people play the game
    -Riptor was a girl

The Riptor tidbit was the most important info they dropped.

Never would have thought. Then again it’s a creature, so yeah.
