Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

And I never will get why people bitch about DLC in fighting games (not saying you do). It’s not like you’re being forced to buy anything extra NRS puts out, and it’s certainly not the situation we endured last year with SFxT. But I guess there’s just no pleasing some people.

True. Yeah it’s like I said above. The chess piece concept only really favors tournament/hardcore players or those who don’t want to pay too much to try. Doesn’t really destroy a bottom line when you have a well established fighting game developer plus DC comic characters.

Yeah, you just don’t buy the characters if you don’t like them. It’s just the Namco/Double Helix method makes it easier for hardcore and casual players to make the commitments they want without feeling like Ted Debiase is going to fuck them over.

NRS titles release with a lot more than 6 characters though.

True, but again, like Ken Lobb said, nobody really plays as all of those characters. A lot of the time when you buy a fighting game you’re buying a really advanced chess set and only on average use like 20 to 30 percent of the pieces. If you truly love every character you really get your money’s worth, but otherwise you’re trying to get your money’s worth out of the 3 or 4 characters you actually play daily (or less).

The game isn’t going to release with only 6 characters since the entire KI roster not including the bosses was like 13. Expect to get close to 13 by the game’s release and then expect entirely new characters or still unreleased older characters to come about inbetween.

Plus again, this is a digital download title that isn’t trying to cram a ton of characters into a short deadline, so expect the full retail price to be cheaper than you may think.

I like the idea of letting casual players buy piecemeal.

Bit I would really prefer to get a more complete roster at retail. But this is all speculation. Hopefully gamescom will reveal more.

Personally, i want to know the pricing scheme.

Ugh going through withdrawal symptoms… Need more infoooo…

NRS gets more shit from constantly patching their games above all else. The biggest negative the Injustice DLC characters had was poor character choices. They usually provide free a costume with those characters. They are one the few developers that actually does DLC right.

I hope that DH patches more like Capcom than NRS.

I hope that DH does DLC more like NRS than Capcom.

Don’t really have much of an opinion on how they patch the game as long as the characters don’t get nerfed into oblivion due to casual fans and such. The characters are looking powerful out the gate so they should stay pretty strong. Shouldn’t have to worry about Glacius losing entire normals like Seth did in SFIV.

I don’t really care what they do with the DLC at this point since the only DLC I’m going to really care about is the characters. Which that DLC has already been confirmed to be given out for free as long as you fully pay for the game up front. Any other DLC they want to release on the side like costumes I don’t give a crap for as long as it doesn’t stop you from playing the game without paying for it.

I just hope they give away some free costumes like NRS.

Sigh… I’m not liking the breaker system. I hope that tones down by release timeline.

Revisited KI2 and from I see combo wise they are really taking a lot of notes from 2… thus I hope the ‘flow system’ (button coordination) isn’t changed.

Can’t wait for Orchid to be announced… Again hopefully some of you will revisit the classics or if ya coming to Summer Jam play with us.

Finally, a KI3 thread without the Xbox one talk!

Anyway, I really hope that DH make this game good and don’t fuck it up.

@Koop Yeah I’m not expecting rave reviews for the new Killer Instinct from anyone who played the old games competitively. I know 1 was played moreso than 2 since I remember old Big E tournaments actually running KI1. Just like the older SF and Marvel players that had a bias towards the new games. I never played Marvel competitively before 3 so it was easier for me to like that than SFIV which just didn’t feel at all like any SF game. Once Marvel came out I quickly dropped IV because it just wasn’t clicking for me anymore.

This game definitely seems to borrow more from 2 than 1. It basically seems like an attempt to create a balanced, tourney competitive version of 2 with an assortment of new features and character redesigns to make it fresh. Ill probably start playing KI2 to get in the mindset for the new game.

Oh and I don’t think ill be going to any tourneys in the near future so unless they release a port of KI1 ill just get at you in the new game.

Chief Thunder to be revealed at GamesCom and/or PAX(Revealed twice maybe?). New character to be teased.

Ill bee chiefin during the reveal of Thunder. Native America getting a real representation in a fighter again.

Chief Thunder is the most badass Native American stereotype in a fighting game imo.

Other than T.Hawk is there any more Native Americans in fighters?
