Free 2 Play with only ONE free character at the start?
Really? As if selling people on a niche genre (fighting games) using a relatively new concept (free 2 play fighting games) using a somewhat niche franchise that has been dormant as long than the many of the group of people who would be playing an xbone have been ALIVE (16years since Killer Instinct 2. I imagine ~16-28 is the age group they are targeting with the xbone) wasnāt going to be hard enough. Making only ONE character free is practically dooming the game from the start.
Always online (donāt kid yourself, this is what MSā system amounts to) + F2P makes this the most TO unfriendly fighting games ever.
You guys know what other fighting game had one playable character and also sucked? History shall repeat itself again, gentleman

No matter how you feel about the old games or how you feel about this new one, I think itās hard to argue that Killer Instinct doesnāt have the best name ever.
My god, itās like they had a checklist of what people liked in a fighting game and did the complete opposite. But this does explain why they didnāt want F2P DoA and Tekken.
I donāt even think this is real now, I think itās a plot by other fighting game devs to look less scumbag-ish.

The ONLY thing I like about the new Killer Instinct is the cel shading effect they used. Not the graphics themselves, not the design, not the particle effects, ONLY the shader. It looks just the right mix of ācartoonyā and ārealisticā
Every single other thing about this game can kindly go die in a fire.

The game had footsiesā¦ some character relied heavily on footsies to even start their combo sequence (spinal & jago for example). The combo chain allowed some buttons to double or combo into themselvesā¦ I hope whomever is taking lead does not try to meld the setup of 1 & 2 togetherā¦

I love Killer Instinct, but this Free-to-Play news is very much a dealbreakerā¦(as if everything else wrong with XboxOne wasnāt lol)
I wish KI didnāt have to be caught up in the cross-fire of this debacle. Hopefully we can get original KI and KI2 for Xbox360 since there is proven interest now.

I just read about the free to play on destructoid. Itās insane that you have to pay for each player and the only playable character is jago.
I think the fireball effects are sexy. I know people were hating on the hitstop because of the stiffness like MK. With this game though they add flash and screen shake to the hits so it makes it look like the strikes have impact, unlike MK where itās just stiffness and thatās it. The game just looks hype. Can definitely compete with Marvel from a spectator perspective in terms of hype imo.
Edit: Getting KOād looks hilariously bad though. I hope they fix that. Itās almost like injustice where they stand up after being KOāed and then just flop down family guy style.
