a tweet was posted in this forum from one of the devs(?) that they were going for sf4/ggpo style netcode. whether that means it will be like ggpo until the shit hits the fan and suddenly be like sf4 to curb warping, i don’t know. i also don’t know where that tweet was posted on here (hell, maybe a different site too) but i’m sure i’m not the only one who saw it.
now back to guessing who will be the 4th reveal… definitely b. orchid. no ifs, ands, or BUTTs about it. she was the most popular character by far in the arcades in my area and she was everyone’s first or second choice in character select. i doubt they will show a less popular character at EVO where they will have everyone’s attention. i was thinking fulgore but they already have dude characters and yeah, fulgor and glacius may not really have a sex, but they’re masculine.
as for a bit of hope that this may appear off x1(as we know it with all that bullshit DRM)… they were using high end pc’s with Nvidia cards for x1 games at E3. also the devs were talking about how the game would have “seasons”. i’m guessing that’s fancy for constant dlc throughout it’s release because i doubt this game is anywhere near finished. this could eventually lead to a “complete” KI3 a year or so after release when only the core fans are still playing or even a pc only version. if x1’s sales are flat throughout the year i wouldn’t be surprised if they released a second SKU or lax the restrictions in order to entice buyers.
I waited so long for this game. Figured it would be an exclusive. Just a shame Microsoft really screwed things up (already pre-ordered my PS4). A couple of things I’m not liking about the game, the combo announcer is horrible and the character design just doesn’t say “KI” on it. It’s a mixture of two different games. The design seems to fit more of what I’d imagine Darkstalkers looking like if they remade it today (specially Sabrewulf looking like Dark Talbain). Jago just looks like he belongs in MK. I understand technology changes and what was popular back then isn’t today, at the same time there should be something in between that distinguishes itself from the rest besides the combo system.
I’m still confused as to why Microsoft bought Rare from Nintendo to have them make piñata games and then not take the lead in one of the most exciting games that defined them at their peak. Maybe I’ve been out of the loop for a while and something happened to Rare? It’s good to see KI3 finally coming out after so long I’ve waited, but it’s very disappointing to see it handled by someone else, exclusive for such a closed system and some of the great elements missing. One thing I do like are the particle effects. That was always great in the previous KI games and it looks like they amped up the effects for them here. As much of a fan I am, I don’t see myself buying into this closed media center Microsoft calls a gaming console for just one game.
Just chiming in. The games that were running on W7 PC’s were LocoCycle (a XBLA game) and Crimson Dragon, the rest of the games were running in actual XBO hardware. A pic of the KI booth with a special guest:
This is off topic so I’m not even going to get into it, but besides the DRM the Xbox One is boned in multiple ways, even from a hardware level being about 50% weaker than the PS4. It’s got nothing to do with hivemind/bandwagon/whatever else you want to call it, the Xbone is the worse of the two major consoles in every conceivable way.
Also a given, since the total cast in both equals 13.
Probably will be scaled down to 50, with 100-Hit Ultra being worth 40G.
That would be sweet, but from what I saw SC now only leaves one Shadow Image upon start, so might not be changed.
Good idea.
Do that for the 360 since Microsoft insists on selling it as the Killer App for XBO. Give people a memory of the good times to coerce them into going Next-Gen.
Also most likely a given, especially with enhancements to some bios.
Save the FMV for endings. In this day & age where gameplay can seemingly be blended with cutscenes, putting a FMV in just for intros and victory poses would just be wasteful, even if it was for nostalgic purposes.
See, that’s exactly what i’m talking about. the number was 40% and it was put out by a journalist from a said “anon source”. I know that because i actually researched instead of just taking some hearsay from some random dude on neogaf with an agenda as fact.
Plus the average gamer won’t notice the percent difference in graphics and depending on how much development work it takes to squeeze that juice out, you may not even actually get to see the difference in dual system release games. There may be a few exclusive PS4 games that may be able to show off that big difference down the road, but unless the PS4 shows it can do 7 things at once while the Xbox is struggling to go back and forth between Skype video and Xbox, it’s just going to be something that supposedly is.
Microsoft can just go back to using Windows 7 instead of 8, but they need to sell 8.
Same thing here. Obviously this is being released on Xbox One on purpose since the nostalgia for this game is SF worthy and using it to get people to swing over to the One is the main goal. Especially with Microsoft owning the franchise for so long and rumors going on for so long, this has been obviously strategically planned for a long time.
I wouldn’t expect a PC release for a year or more either while they try to use the exclusivity to sell the system. Expecting it to be on anything else is futile for the next year or more.
I’m just hoping there’s enough people who aren’t worried about the system wars and who will buy both systems to check it out. Which i think will happen since the system will have a month or 2 head start in release over the PS4.
You can always just go over a friend’s house and play it at their house. If you have a scene someone in it will have the dollars or just like the One enough to go get it. Hell…that’s how I played Killer Instinct 1. I was a die hard Sega Genesis kid and my parents didn’t have the money to buy me a SNES. So my next door neighbor and basically best friend at the time had a copy and I would walk to the apartment door across the hallway and crack out every day after school. Literally was the only game that made me want a SNES.
If they haven’t hacked UMVC3 for PC yet they certainly aren’t going to get away with hacking a game on the big bad One that will not be on any physical disc that you can carry or hold.
I don’t even know what journalist you’re talking about, don’t go to NeoGAF, and it’s pretty easy to see without someone else telling you. Feel free to fact check and/or read the specs directly from Microsoft and Sony respectively. The Xbox One is already at a detriment in the memory department from going with DDR3 instead of DDR5, which is a pretty big difference, but the Xbox One allocates only 5 GB of their 8 total to gaming so they can have 3 for their triple OS/multitasking operations. The PS4 on the other hand is allocating 7 to gaming and 1 to OS. On to the graphics card, both consoles are reported to have a similar card, but the PS4 is clocked at 1.8 GFLOPS compared to the Xbox One 1.2 GFLOPS.
These are pretty god damn drastic differences in consoles. If 50% isn’t an accurate estimate then whatever, that’s what I estimate it to be. If you did do the research you wouldn’t even need to argue about whether or not one of the consoles is more powerful than the other, both companies are directly advertising how powerful their consoles are and Sony’s hardware is just better.
