i’m concerned about this game only receiving approximately 7 months of development time pre-release. that’s a short period of time to develop AND TEST a fighting game.
Yeah, it does seem weird that they’re releasing it on a dead console. It’s like they don’t want to sell the game or something.

The game is looking pretty good, but it’s a real shame about it being on the XBone. I look forward to following it as it gets developed in the future.
The XBoned is a total clusterfuck of a console for tournament organizers. I can’t imagine many wanting to deal with them, especially for a game with such a dubious competitive history.

Playing devils advocate here but the Xbone might turn out to be pretty good for tournies with internet access since you can stream directly from the console with Twitch app. However it all depends on the venue…
MS has more than enough money to get it into EVO. Some majors and locals will have problems.

Let’s be real here, the chances of an exclusive launch title having any real tournament presence after the initial release promotions by the publisher are over are pretty much zero.
I am not angry. But yeah I want the Xbone to Fail. yeah I want the top execs at Microsoft to pull the plug on the Xbox long before Halo 3 came out.
If Killer Instinct 4 came out on the Wii U instead done by a actually good developer I maybe give it a shot like How I tried to give the N64 game a shot but thats it. And thats only on the Wii U a console still not planning on getting, well maybe for the new Smash Bros and Zelda titles. If KI showed up for the PS4 I still skip it.

I actually think the SNES version is superior to this. The fact from the title its the exact same title as the first game, a nasty reboot trend if you ask me. Sure make a reboot, but do something where I can say its name and people know I mean the Xbone and not the SNES version.
What I am angry about is the Xbox is still around, Atari is still in existence and Sega stop making hardware. Don’t give me a shit remake of KI, give me Dreamcast 2 damn it.

Unlikely, The system is not tournament friendly unless MS makes a truncated version of the Xbone that lacks the always online requirement just for major tourney organizers.
Far as I know Evo is in bed with Sony. I don’t see just Evo avoiding the Xbone, I also see MLG avoiding the Xbone as well.
I’d say it depends on the IP. Maybe if it was some anime or indie game, being exclusive would hurt it’s chances. If SF5 was an exclusive launch title, the community would still go along and play it anyway. So far this is the only fighter that has been shown and its got energy behind it being a reboot. If this was on PS4, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion about tournament viability because TOs would still be able to run tourneys the way they always have been because the console doesn’t have restrictions. Imo being exclusive to Xbone is what will kill its tournament presence rather than it just being exclusive.
Well Double Helix mentioned that they are trying to work something out with MS to make it more tournament friendly. Hopefully a tournament mode that disables all the Kinect bullshit.

Sabrewolf gameplay seems to be Blanka on crack. Charge character with mixups and a vortex? Awesome.
Honestly I will kind of miss UltraTech being involved in the plot, but at least it doesn’t sound nearly as convoluted as it did with KI 1 & 2. Jago’s plot is more interesting and Sabrewulf’s makes a lot more sense.
except sabrewolf isnt a charge character. hasnt been since ki2, and blanka is just a creative waste by shitty producers and directors of sf games.
