KILL! The Urien SFV thread!

Here is some random anti birdie tech, if birdie blocks up close stand jab, cr. jab, cr. strong xx into ex knee drop when your opponent blocks the knee you will side switch and still be plus enough to get a throw or a cr. lk/st lp that can stuff birdie’s fastest button. Dont know if it works on anyone else.

I’m not usually a fan of manual setups but I think sweep > delayed EX tackle (10f delay to be exact) is valuable enough to be worth practicing. It’s +3 on block if they quick rise and +8 if they back rise. 1f timing is a bummer but you have a little bit of leeway since there’s a 3 frame window to be at least +1.

This a common occurrence for anyone else?

I feel like it’s indistinguishable whether it’s a crossup or not.

Dont let Nash jump right on your head because its guess city. Thats the space where he can hit you in front, but land behind for a double mix up. Just dont be there or jump backwards with a button if you see him go up. Even if you get hit out of the air its better than taking coin drop jump in into a lot of life.

Hes plus 3 after that c.mp so its not the best idea to throw a button back at him afterwards. It let him jump over your button into a free mix up.

I’ll keep that in mind, the same occurs with every character though and without a fast overhead anti air it’s so tough to deal with. Balrog wasn’t too bad because his st.mp was really fast but uriens st.hk is very slow for reacting to a close jump and it often looses, you need to predict the jump it seems.

Ideally you dont want to stay on the ground to AA close jumps. Its better to go to the air.

You don’t play on pc using ibuki do you?

I play on PS4. PC gives me harsh rollbacks

Oh I was playing an ibuki on pc with your name and was wondering :stuck_out_tongue:

A reset concept I came up with. Haven’t posted it anywhere yet.

CC st.HP, B+HK, V-trigger, st.MP, F+MP, cr.HP, HP Metallic sphere, EX Shoulder Tackle, V-trigger, F+MP, cr.HP, HP Metallic Sphere, EX Shoulder Tackle

After the second aegis reflector comes out, you can mix up with something other than cr.HP such as st.LP, st.MP, LK/EX shoulder tackle. If you think you can get a counter, st.MP, cr.MP, st.LK, LK/EX shoulder tackle also works and should take your opponent close to stun.

It’s either that Or they lack fundamentals.

HK Knee Drop seems like a decent corner escape tool if used sparingly, given that the beginning of the knee drop animation looks like a normal jump. That makes it a lot harder to react to than its frame data suggests.

V skill ex knee is a theoretical great way to escape the corner since its armored on the way up and fast on the way down.

But I guess if you’re cornered you probably won’t have time to use V-skill anyway
So you would have to have a stored vskill etc

That’s when it’s time to think ahead bud:

“Hmm I’m playing against mika/ken and if they corner me I’m toast. Maybe I’ll finish this combo with hk tackle and v skill just in case they make a comeback and get me in the corner”

It’s just critical thinking. Yeah it won’t likely be up very much… But that totally depends on the player that you are. Do you go all out offense or do you play it a bit more safe? The world is your oyster.

He’s definitely good. I still think there’s probably some stuff that hasn’t been discovered/fleshed out enough yet too.

If anyone wants to practise a combo after perfectly spaced lk tackle, here’s a way to hit the dummy so you get the perfect spacing -

Who isn’t going to block that? I’m not trying to be a smart ass either.

As for you guys who are having problems with corner escapes you can always v-reversal.

^yeah that is like un-un-blockable. if you keep them high you might be able to do f+MP xx headbutt for the crossup but I feel like at that height they are gonna land in the reflector before you cross up.

I am struggling a lot with st.HK as an anti air. Don’t think I’ve ever played a character who needs to let their stick into neutral in order to AA properly so my muscle memory is screwing me up, and it feels especially awkward on a charge character.

Hey guys. Which Aegis set ups should I be practicing that I can use consistently? My set ups feel fraudulent as hell and I feel it’s me timing things wrong more than anything. Here’s an example:

I hit a cr. mk and go into Aegis, do my combo and launch them with cr. HP. Reset them out the air Forward St.MP into another Aegis… and it hits them twice when they land thus turning my mix up into a screw up. Sometimes I’ll get one hit, sometimes I’ll get two.
What am I doing wrong? Sometimes I find if I delay the Forward ST. MP it hits them once but there’s no mix up because the overhead is far to slow at that point.

TLDR; I need Aegis set ups because I’m a fraud. :bawling:
