Quick question: decapre’s lvl 2 focus is +4 right?

So I should be able to cr.lp(3 frames) after and not get reversal DP’ed or thrown?

I can’t seem to get it tight enough no matter what I try. It’s to the point I just want to back dash after just to be safe because I keep getting hit/ DP’ed/thrown after.

Maybe I don’t have the right frame data?

yes crLP after fa2 dash forward is a block string if you do it fast enough

if you try to throw (3f startup) immediately after the dash forward it will not work because they are still in blockstun

yes is +4 but you have to perfect dash cancel into an almost perfect jab after the dash thats why you may have problem with this IMO

In theory I agree (hence my clicking on ‘Agree’). In practice I see a FAQ thread failing spectacularly. Do you realize that there are people posting their “newly discovered” techniques for cr. MK into LP Rapid Daggers in that thread that have already been posted 3+ times? That thread is only four pages long AND the idea of a Hundred Hands/Lighting Legs/Electricity move isn’t something IMO that’s so complicated that it should even need its own topic. Yet here we are and people cannot be assed to even read (hell skimming would probably suffice) 4 pages to figure out whether or not what they’re posting is relevant or unique. Hell, in ZOEs case people are, justifiably, getting on him because he couldn’t even be bothered to scroll all the way to the bottom of the forum and read thread titles before posting a question that’s been answered previously and in great detail (thanks @Teyah).

Yeah I missed it. I’ve been out in the field for over a month. I missed everything about this game the day it came out otherwise I’d be up to speed on all of this stuff. I did scroll all the way to the bottom and I didn’t see it there. I don’t think there’s any need to have an attitude about it. A simple,“Check the OP” or something without being an ass about it would have sufficed.

Was thinking about the economy of when it’s worth it to blow 2 bars for air throw based on damage/stun values, disregarding setups here because where/when you fadc at determines your potential okizeme and i’m still working on that. Lets just say “gets to keep momentum” vs. not in mind when choosing not to FADC the sting. Rapid dagger or RES combos tend to do 40-70 less damage than a psycho sting combo BEFORE an air throw so it’s also something to keep in mind.

at 6/7 hits fadc is not worth it unless you have some sort of sick setup or it will kill, and getting that many hits with decapre in a situation is pretty impractical in and of itself.

I think 1-3 hits is pretty much always worth it if you don’t need the bar for anything in particular.

example vs. Abel

cr.lp, cr.hp, st.lk xx hp psycho sting fadc airthrow does 334/508 for -320ish net meter
cr.lp, cr.mp, cr.mk xx RES does 193/300 for +140ish net meter
cr.lp, cr.hp, st.lk xx hp rapid daggers does 214/430 for +180ish meter

RES isn’t that great vs. Abel as you aren’t able to connect a lot of mediums on him, and can’t connect one after a cr.hp(boo).

In comparison to daggers here though we’re getting a straight up trade of 2 EX bars for 120 damage, 78 stun, a hard knockdown(which we’ll ignore for now) and about 2 tiles less of corner push. The corner push is mostly a wash, both combos push the other character about 40% of the screen.

That trade seems okay to me against a character like Abel where you want to keep pressure up on and who has a good amount of life, and he’s a character who has somewhat tricky wakeup if he has bar so you don’t want to cede momentum if you’ve got him on the ropes meterless.

This is all character specific though cause some characters the difference will actually be higher or lower depending on context as some characters can’t be airthrown midscreen after a max damage psycho sting combo, some characters hits of hands whiff on the max damage confirm, on some characters on the max damage confirm sting will whiff but hands won’t, some characters you can get good oki with RES(especially with u1) etc. etc.

I kind of don’t like it that much for long confirms, but it seems really good on a 1-2 hit into sting punish as the damage difference can get closer to 200 damage in comparison to a hands or res punish.

On a related note i added damage values for all possible enders including fadc airthrow in the char specific combo Google doc

apparently nuckledu and hoodaman ran decapre at evo and were the top placing ones (nuckledu maining guile, subbing decapre apparently, and hoodaman running decapre all the way). also infiltration after losing chun vs gouken to velociraptor, beat velociraptor with decapre vs gouken

b.throw, walk a tiny bit back, hk scramble mk divekick os lp psycho sting will beat Rose’s backdash, ex spiral, and ex soul throw sometimes(should be able to link u2 off of soul throw punish). On top of this if you hit her right on the toes as you want you can also build another os in. Cl.hp will link off of the divekick if it happens to hit, but on block will trade with a jab(can combo off of trade), beat a short, and if she focus backdashes you’ll get far fierce beating this as well.

you can also do cl.mk xx lp/ex hands too as far mk will also catch the focus backdash if you’re worried your dk isn’t right on the toes making cl.hp safe and is probably the better option anyway. though it has less reward if the divekick happens to hit.

can also os pyscho sting off of a normal jumpin, but I got it twice in 30 minutes. the os has to be entered late, but not late enough where you’re out of hitstop or at the buffer window. feels just frame or close to it

i have a few thing about set ups involving OS off of scramble dive kick

im going to wait to august tho. plus it need further testing

i came across with the sting OS from a jump in too, but it feels very hard to do for the moment but that was the key for the other set ups im talking about
