I have great success whenever i get a “safe jump” in the corner i like to do a jump in then do cl.hp xx EX MK scramble hp break. As it crossup very fast compared to midscreen opponents never block when i tried this one. I know its a gimmick but it tends to surprise a lot. High risk high reward.
testing out the character specific combos is driving me crazy. the variability in the idle animations are the fucking worst and i’d hate to be spreading misinformation.
can anyone with insight confirm, that if i set the dummy to jump and hit it during the grounded frames, it would be equivalent to hitting them on the first frame of the idle animation? i’ve been trying out a couple of different ways to reset the idle animations but i still get inconsistent results. fuuuuuck sake capcom, elaborate idle animations might’ve looked nifty with sprites but it’s the dumbest shit. leave that hitbox alone
Hey guys, just thought I’d introduce myself in the thread. I’ll be around trying to contribute to discussion as often as I possibly can. Can’t wait to dive in and find some cool stuff with this character.
Man you ask some tough questions. The only other characters I’ve ever been especially decent with at in this game are Guile, Boxer and Cody and they’ve all kind of fallen off in favor of working the kinks out of my Decapre. That and I’m not sure a) how good any of them are in this game AND b) which if any of those character spackle over Decapre’s bad matchups well enough to bother investing in them. Also, for example, I know that Guile is, so far, seemingly a bad matchup for Decapre but I definitely wouldn’t want to run my B-team Guile against someone who mains Guile and that’s not even considering the fact that Guile mirrors are already like pulling teeth.
identify bad matchups, then worry about counterpicking.
I can’t really say with a straight face what matchups I think are bad at the moment other than bison. I only have a lot of relevant experience in 5-6 matchups.
I’m not convinced about Guile being a bad matchup. EX Scramble does a pretty good job of saying naaaaah to his options in neutral and U1 gives free corner carry. The only matchup I’m entirely convinced is bad as of now is Zangief, but i’m ass against gief with any character so I can’t really take my opinion of that seriously : -{.
I’ve been mauled by some okayish Bisons but i’m not convinced that was because it’s a bad matchup. Is there anything in particular other than his higher quality pokes that makes the bison match bad?
he limits your oki options, can stuff scramble easily, and he can beat you in neutral
i’ve played HappyMedicine and my teammate Ferris(top 16 texas showdown), in it and I just think the character can limit decapre more than the other way around.
If you could punish ex psycho without ultra, or could reliably punish the vast array of reversal options he has it wouldn’t be that bad, but he’s really hard to pin down. scramble divekick os EX DP is okay and will beat psycho/scissors/backdash, but then he can teleport/ex stomp/reverse and you end up in a bad situation. other characters who are as hard to pin down you do better vs. them in neutral.
I keep trying to but the internet won’t let me. I do however find air throwing him out of U2 (can you tell that I mostly play shitty online Bisons) to be greatly amusing.
Uryo thinks Decapre can find projectiles troublesome and has problems with Grapplers. As a general rule of thumb I’m inclined to agree with him on both fronts, though some projectile/grapplers characters aren’t -that- bad and there’s still footsie characters who can give her trouble too. I agree though, still too early to tell.
lemme preface this by saying im awful at this game
There seems to be a bit of consensus, that fireball characters are difficult to deal with, but i just don’t see it. At further ranges, they are giving you free Ultra 1 and what fireball reliant character is good at circumventing it? Like, akuma and who else? At midrange, Decapre has so many options to close in with EX Scramble, rse, ex spiral arrow, cr.mk to hands etc. I’m most likely missing something but i just don’t see it.
You both need meter and have to save your meter to readily use those tools. Not to say it’s difficult but smarter fireball players can use that to their advantage. Decapre doesn’t do poorly against Fireballs by any means, but she can be conditioned by them and personally i find the range I want to poke/play footsies is the range where I can eat a fireball in the face if I’m not careful. Uryo’s translated quote was “Projectile characters are a bother to deal with,” which i agree with. Not “hard”, but a bother.
I don’t really find any of them bothersome other than poison or guile, and even then i can build meter faster than they can and force them to approach.
