Too many times where the U2 range fails me by a pixel =(
learning the range is important, and you should be working on dash ultra if you haven’t been already.
You know what I hate about U2? When you use the AA version to escape corner pressure and it autocorrects, putting you back in the corner, when you whiff the ground version on an attempted FA punish because they back dashed, etc…
having a corner escape ultra in the first place is a luxury. having to learn when you can use it is not that unreasonable.
u2 being bad vs. focus attacks seems to be intentional with the low number of active frames.
focus abuse is kinda hard to deal with at first
but then you realize that decapre can manage just fine and sometimes even better than most charge characters (ie. chun)
As an SSF4 Chun/Guile player I welcome all my newfound focus breaking options. So much easier to deal with.
if you’re getting beaten by lots of random focuses, start learning to do Rapid Daggers on the spot. Whiff a cr.MP and then activate HP hands. I do this by inputting MP,LP,HP,LP,HP. What I tend to do is buffer the first 4 buttons inputs and then put the HP at the end when I’m ready. This does take some practice to react to though as you are punished if you miss.
It’s mainly to punish bad focus positions but the good thing with this is that it punishes them when they back dash as well.
i’m getting bodied by ryus that are to keepaway what ghandi is to rushdown. it’s unbelievable how bad i am against players that do stuff without rhyme or reason. in my head im like “ama gonna shimmy that crouch tech and throw him”. in reality they wake up with sweep. -_- that being garbage at street fighter saltiness…
That’s not so bad. At least you were suprised by the “Different” wake up option.
Losing to the bnb of Jab, Jab, Throw x15 because teching online is a myth… that’s when my salt starts to pour.
Especially when you watch the replay and see down-back+LP+LK forty or so times when they’re within distance and still no tech.
One thing I was going to ask - How frustrated do people get with “Waiting for players” removing charge time? I mean, it’s so much fun to read a jump, try and Ultra 2 it and then Blip just get j.HK which whiffs and I get srk’d for it.
Feel free to ignore this post… realised it started out as something and turned into the usual “USF4 Online SSSSUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKSSSS!”
if you crouch tech early you can be thrown during startup of cr lk
(you should stand tech in that situation)
Yeah I know. I do, but when my salt level starts to rise I end up crouch teching a lot. I also start using HP-Break in neutral so that tells you how my brain goes in those situations (As in it decides it’s had enough and checks out early).
Sorry this is less about Decapre and more about me being awful in general. Can’t someone just post some random new gimmick so I can just steal some wins for a day or two? Something easier than cr.MKxxLP-Hands? (I’m kidding, please don’t hurt me Malvadisco)
blocktring cancel to ex divekick aim at their neck, will fake crossup, land hit them from the back, combo into hands then do it again
why you so cheap
This sounds delicious, I always have close to full stock of super, something new to use that extra bar now and then. Yum
I’m tired of getting thrown out of HP Break…. Also, a well-timed cr.LP/LK/MP beats it clean… You don’t even have to guess unless it’s timed perfectly/meaty.
On the topic of mixups, I really like the ones VRyu was using in that set against the Rolento player. HK Scramble > delayed EX Spiral Arrow, blockstring xx EX Scramble > MP Break > Throw/cross up low.
I feel you. Playing USFIV online makes me want to punch babies. Not just one baby but like all of them. Maybe kick some puppies too while I’m at it. Even worse are the Dekappa mirrors when the other guy views HP break as the essential tool in her arsenal and then losing to that player when the netcode decides that ground pound being -9 on block isn’t quit good enough to punish.
<- Spent the last ~3 hours playing online -_-
On a still semi-online related note I kind of wish that each version of Psycho Sting was a different color so that the terribad online players knew how predictable they where being when whatever they where doing was called out with the appropriate version of the move.
You know that if people throw you out of your cr.lk, you won’t get a throw tech, right?
You should mix it up with stand tech, backdash, and jump back.
it’s not even optimal use of bar and people will start blocking it if you use it too much, but it’s interesting.
eh i think ex scramble is one of the best uses of meter, esp as an u2 player. beats focus and automatically goes into bait dp/counter hit/throw/low/crossup mixup
edit: can beat focus
no i agree, i just think this particular use of it isn’t optimal.
